After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 236, Whether Others Are Awesome or Not, What’s It to You?!
Lin Jia felt aggrieved. Why is this woman like this? She’s completely unreasonable, ignoring the facts and ungrateful for my help, yet she inexplicably berated me. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"I know exactly what kind of man my husband is," Chen Hua said. "A single look at you tells me you’re no good. So young and yet so shameless, seducing my husband and then trying to pin the blame on him. Heh, I’ve seen plenty of sluts like you."
Chen Hua snorted disdainfully, her gaze toward Lin Meiqing flickering with obvious envy and resentment. After all, as a woman, Lin Meiqing’s aura and appearance far surpassed her own. For some reason, I want nothing more than to tear that beautiful face to shreds.
"You’d better watch your mouth," Lin Jia warned. "Your husband orchestrated this entire thing, so what do you mean I’m pinning the blame? I have evidence."
"Evidence?" Chen Hua’s laughter grew more brazen. "Evidence can be forged. Since I’m calling you out by name and saying you’re no good, then you ARE no good! You slut, say one more word and I’ll slap you."
The onlookers exchanged bewildered glances. No one had expected Chen Hua to be so aggressive. Seizing the opportunity, Yu Zheng struggled to his feet. He didn’t want things to escalate, so he waved his hand dismissively and urged his wife, "Alright, that’s enough. We won’t stoop to the level of trash. Let’s go home."
"We’ll take the loss today. The less trouble, the better. Let’s go, let’s all go back!"
Shen Fanyun watched them. Are this husband and wife insane?
The most baffling part was that Chen Hua grunted in agreement, but before leaving, she shot one last haughty threat at Lin Jia. "If you ever seduce my husband again, I’ll see to it that your slutty reputation is utterly ruined!"
"Are you out of your mind?" Lin Meiqing suddenly stepped forward, her sharp question stopping Chen Hua in her tracks. "Your mouth is overflowing with such filth. Did you eat your breakfast in a toilet?"
Chen Hua tried to maintain her domineering, untouchable facade, but Lin Meiqing closed the distance in a few quick steps. She came right up to Chen Hua, raised her hand, and swung. "My daughter is not someone you can humiliate."
SLAP!
Another slap followed, this one so hard it sent blood gushing from Chen Hua’s nose and mouth.
Chen Hua was left speechless.
"I advise you to get the facts straight. Do you really have no idea what kind of degenerate your husband is?" Lin Meiqing’s voice was cold. "Dare to deny it, and I’ll slap you again."
Chen Hua said nothing.
"Is your husband really so innocent?"
Chen Hua remained silent.
SLAP!
Tired of talking, Lin Meiqing began slapping Chen Hua’s face from both sides. "You’re clearly the one at fault, yet you dare to slander others? After smearing my daughter’s name, you think you can just walk away? Do you really think things are that simple, or do you believe you can just spray your filth and pretend nothing happened?"
With a sharp tug, Lin Meiqing grabbed a handful of Chen Hua’s hair and yanked it fiercely, delivering another resounding slap that nearly fractured the bridge of her nose. This was rage at its peak.
Caught completely off guard, Chen Hua only thought to fight back after enduring several slaps. However, Lin Meiqing, who had supported her family through years of hard labor, easily overpowered Chen Hua, a so-called lady of leisure whose hands had never known a day of work.
"Yu Zheng, are you an idiot? Can’t you see your wife is being beaten? Get over here and help!" Chen Hua shrieked. "Grab her! I’m going to kill this bitch today!"
Yu Zheng took a hesitant step forward, but his blood ran cold when he met Shen Fanyun’s inscrutable gaze. He froze, terrified to move.
"Yu Zheng!" Chen Hua urged again.
Yu Zheng sucked in a sharp breath.
"You move an inch, and I’ll put you right back on the floor," Shen Fanyun said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
Yu Zheng instantly deflated. His hands fidgeted nervously, but ultimately, he lacked the courage to help his wife.
"You vile woman, you dare curse my daughter when she is the victim?" Lin Meiqing seethed, yanking Chen Hua’s head from side to side by her hair, looking as if she wanted to rip her scalp clean off. "With a mouth as foul as yours, did you really think you could spew your venom at anyone without consequences?"
"This..." Lin Jia’s eyes were wide, her mouth forming a perfect ’O’. In her entire life, she had never seen her mother so utterly furious.
SLAP!
One final slap sent Chen Hua crashing to the ground. The onlookers stared. The woman who had moments ago appeared so elegant and poised was now a disfigured wreck. Her face was a patchwork of blue and purple bruises, and a wretched mixture of blood, saliva, and tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Yu Zheng, are you fucking dead?" Chen Hua screamed, clutching her face in disbelief and confusion. "Your wife is being beaten to a pulp, and you just stand there watching? You useless, spineless coward!"
Yu Zheng trembled, unable to form a response.
"You," Shen Fanyun said, pointing at Yu Zheng. "Tell your half-wit wife who started this whole mess."
"I... I..." Yu Zheng stammered.
Chen Hua was furious with frustration. In truth, she knew exactly what kind of man her husband was; she had been deliberately stirring up trouble, counting on her family’s status to mock them with impunity. Still, Yu Zheng is a man of some standing. Why has he folded so completely today?
Her gaze swept across the room and suddenly landed on a pistol lying on the table, its black iron gleaming faintly. Is it real? Her eyes widened in shock as she finally understood why Yu Zheng was acting so uncharacteristically tame, like a newborn kitten.
"Honey, stop making a fuss. Let’s just admit defeat this time," Yu Zheng muttered through gritted teeth, trying to pull Chen Hua away.
Chen Hua stumbled, not yet on her feet, when Shen Fanyun sneered, "You weren’t thinking about admitting defeat when you were acting so high and mighty. Now you know how? You do something this outrageous, and you expect to just say ’we admit defeat’ and walk away scot-free? Besides, this wife of yours twisted right and wrong from the moment she walked in and started slandering people. Isn’t she going to apologize?"
Chen Hua, emotionally volatile, blurted out without thinking, "Apologize my ass! I have never apologized in my entire life! I don’t even know what an apology is! The nerve of you to ask me for one! You should look at yourself and see if you’re even worthy! What utter nonsense!"
BAM!
Shen Fanyun didn’t waste any more words. He kicked out, his foot slamming into Chen Hua’s head and smashing it against the floor. With a sickening thud, Chen Hua was sent reeling, her mind going blank.
"Now do you know what an apology is?" Shen Fanyun asked, looking down on her with that same humorless smile.
Chen Hua was silent.
Yu Zheng was silent.
A pool of blood spread across the floor from beneath Chen Hua’s face. The room fell into a dead silence. The force of that single kick was far more devastating than all of Lin Meiqing’s slaps combined. Chen Hua felt as if the bones in her face had shattered. Shen Fanyun is trying to kill me.
In that instant, she was stunned, her heart filling with an indescribable sense of indignation and rage.
"This..." Yu Zheng stood paralyzed, looking around helplessly, unsure how to handle the situation. Shen Fanyun was simply too brutal.
"Are you going to apologize?" Shen Fanyun asked with a placid smile.
Chen Hua said nothing for a long moment, then managed to grit out, "You... you dare hit me... You hit me... Do you have any idea who my distant relative is?"
Shen Fanyun raised an eyebrow. Here we go again. Is she about to name-drop someone to intimidate me? All the clowns I’ve met lately seem to love this trick, flaunting their connections as if that makes them royalty.
"And who might that be?" Shen Fanyun asked thoughtfully. He had no real interest in her background, but he figured he might as well humor her.
"I am related to the Li family," she declared. "It may be a distant relation, but if I ask for their help, they won’t just stand by and do nothing. Young man, by provoking me, you’ve picked on the wrong person!"
The Li family? Shen Fanyun frowned. Is there a powerful Li family in Hangcheng City? None of the top families seem to have that surname.
His confusion cleared when Chen Hua triumphantly uttered the name: "Li Qiuchan."
So, this Li family is Li Qiuchan’s family.
"Hmph, you’re scared now, aren’t you?" Chen Hua saw the flicker in Shen Fanyun’s eyes and her confidence surged. The name "Li family" must have intimidated him.
"You should know that Miss Qiuchan of the Li family is about to marry into the Han Family! You know of the Han Family, don’t you? That’s Han Long’s family, one of the undisputed overlords of Hangcheng City!" Staggering to her feet, Chen Hua’s tone grew smug. "Heh, in Hangcheng City, I absolutely have the capital to do as I please. This time, you’ve definitely messed with the wrong person."
Shen Fanyun’s gaze turned icy. "Did I say you could get up?"
Chen Hua froze, stunned.
"Kneel," Shen Fanyun commanded.
Chen Hua was dumbfounded.
What the hell? I’m a genuine, albeit distant, relative of the Li family! How can he be so fearless? How dare he still try to discipline me? Is this guy a reckless fool? Doesn’t he know the Li and Han families are about to form a powerful alliance? Who in Hangcheng City would dare to provoke them? And since I’m related to the Li family, isn’t provoking me the same as seeking death? Could it be there’s no one in this entire city this man is afraid of?
"Are... are you insane?" Chen Hua gaped, at a loss for how to even communicate with him.
"What does the Li family’s strength have to do with you? Besides, I really don’t have time to deal with the Li family," Shen Fanyun said with a ghost of a smile.
Chen Hua was speechless.
However, the sudden mention of Li Qiuchan made Shen Fanyun realize he hadn’t thought about his ’lovely’ ex-girlfriend in a while. I wonder if her fiancé, Han Feng, is out of the hospital yet? By my count, their wedding should have happened by now, right?
"You’d better be more respectful! Who in Hangcheng City dares to offend the Li family? Aren’t you afraid your words will bring you disaster?" Chen Hua warned.
"And what if I’m not respectful?" Shen Fanyun’s brow furrowed ominously.
Yu Zheng and Chen Hua exchanged looks of disbelief. What kind of freak was this man who showed no respect even for the Li family? He was audacious to the extreme.
