After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 234: Let me witness, your courage!
"Heh heh, Lin Jia," Yu Zheng said, "today, I, Mr. Yu, will not only be your groom. I’m also going to..."
His lewd gaze flitted past Lin Jia’s body before fixing intently on Lin Meiqing.
"I’m also going to be your second father."
Yu Zheng rubbed his hands together, making no effort to hide his vile and disgusting nature. "If you hadn’t asked to meet me, I’d never have known you have such a stunningly beautiful mother. Tsk, tsk. Lin Jia, don’t worry. I will take good care of the two of you. There’s no need to rush."
Yu Zheng licked his lips, revealing teeth and gums stained with yellow filth. His eyes oozed with a despicable, vile light.
Lin Jia trembled with anger. She had never seen someone so utterly devoid of morals. "You... you’re shameless!"
"That’s right, I am shameless," Yu Zheng said arrogantly, his hands in his pockets. "In this day and age, who doesn’t like a shameless man? You’re still young. You don’t understand the value of a man like me. But that’s alright. Tonight, you will."
Shen Fanyun casually lit a cigarette.
According to the script in movies, villains tend to talk too much. By the time they actually sense the aura of death, the chance to save themselves is long gone. Right now, Yu Zheng was doing a frantic dance on the very edge of death.
"And you, you brainless bastard! How dare you meddle in my, Yu Zheng’s, affairs?" Yu Zheng stared coldly at Shen Fanyun. Seeing the man’s exceptional looks and commanding presence filled him with a storm of envy, jealousy, and hatred. "Go and ask around about my, Yu Zheng’s, great reputation in Hangcheng City."
Holding his cigarette carelessly, Shen Fanyun asked indifferently, "How great a reputation? How does it compare to Han Long?"
"Han Long? He’s nothing! I, Yu Zheng... wait, what? Han Long? Mr. Han?" Yu Zheng’s swaggering arrogance instantly vanished, and he stared at Shen Fanyun with a solemn expression.
Han Long was a tycoon of Hangcheng City, a distinguished and influential figure of the highest caliber. Who in the city wouldn’t show him the utmost respect? Forget standing before the man himself; merely mentioning his name was enough to inspire instinctive fear in everyone.
A man’s reputation precedes him.
In all of Hangcheng City, no one carried more weight than Han Long. The man had already achieved a god-like status.
"You know Mr. Han?"
Yu Zheng remained wary, scrutinizing Shen Fanyun. His eyes flickered with suspicion as he studied every detail of the man’s face.
Shen Fanyun shook his head. "Not well."
"I’m just curious. Between you and Han Long, who’s more formidable?"
Yu Zheng licked his lips. Was this guy insane? Who would dare compare their strength to Han Long’s? That was no different from seeking death. ’Not well acquainted?’ That just meant he didn’t know him, right? And if he didn’t know him, why bring up Mr. Han? He’d really given him a scare. He thought Shen Fanyun actually knew Han Long, in which case he certainly wouldn’t have dared to act so rashly.
"Hmph, I don’t have time to waste on you," Yu Zheng snarled. "If you know what’s good for you, get the hell out of here and leave these two with me."
With a grand wave of his hand, Yu Zheng advised Shen Fanyun to go back where he came from. He was just some small fry, yet he fantasized about clashing with Yu Zheng? It was like a mantis trying to stop a chariot—utterly overestimating his own abilities.
VROOOM!
At that moment, a white van screeched to a halt on the scene. The door slid open, and seven or eight bald, burly men immediately jumped out. Then came a second van, and a third. One after another, over forty men surged from the public square toward the café. Seeing that things were turning ugly, the other patrons quickly fled.
"Quite the spectacle you’ve arranged," Shen Fanyun remarked, snuffing out his cigarette with a flick of his fingers. "To brazenly abduct women in broad daylight is one thing, but to parade so many men through the streets to do it... You really have some guts, Yu Zheng."
Yu Zheng bared his teeth in a grin. "This is a dog-eat-dog world. If you have power, you can do whatever you want. If you don’t, you can only live a stifled life within the rules. Obviously, I’m the kind of person who lives above the rules. So what if I take them? Is anyone going to dare stand up and punish me?"
Yu Zheng seemed quite interested in lecturing Shen Fanyun. Shen Fanyun, however, was rapidly losing patience. Just looking at this foul man for another second was becoming unbearable.
"Boss," one of the men boomed, "who pissed you off? Fucking hell, talk about blind. Who dares provoke our boss? I’ll kill him today!"
The forty-plus men crowded into the café. The leader, a bald man, rubbed his head and swept a fierce, vicious gaze around the scene. Inevitably, his eyes landed on Lin Meiqing and Lin Jia.
"Boss has got good taste, huh? Are they mother and daughter?"
Yu Zheng let out a sly chuckle. "Heh heh."
"Well, well, look what we have here. A mother-daughter pair," the bald man said, crossing his arms. He leaned in close to Yu Zheng and added fawningly, "Boss, when you’re done, can you let your brothers have a taste? I’ve lived this long and never had a mother-daughter pair, tsk, tsk... especially not lookers like these."
Yu Zheng shrugged. "Relax. I, Yu Zheng, never mistreat my brothers. But first, there’s a bastard here in the way. Beat him senseless and throw him out."
In an instant, the bald man’s gaze locked onto Shen Fanyun.
"Kid, I gave you a chance. You’re the one who chose not to leave," Yu Zheng sneered, raising his hand, ready to give the order.
"The show’s just getting started. How could I bear to leave?" Shen Fanyun mused. He straightened his back, and before anyone could react, he suddenly tossed something onto the table.
CLANG.
The sharp sound drew the attention of everyone present. It was pitch-black and ice-cold. Palm-sized. It gleamed with a chilling light.
"A gun?"
The sight made not only Yu Zheng’s henchmen gasp and recoil, but Yu Zheng himself felt his hair stand on end as he stared at the object on the table in disbelief.
Is it real? And why would Shen Fanyun have something like that?
Lin Meiqing and Lin Jia were equally shocked. Lin Meiqing, in particular, found it incomprehensible.
Where did Shen Fanyun get a gun? Every time they met, they’d held nothing back from each other, but she’d never seen this before. Of course, compared to this one, Lin Meiqing much preferred, and was even infatuated with, Shen Fanyun’s *other* gun!
"This..."
WHOOSH!
The dozens of men behind Yu Zheng scrambled backward in unison, leaving him standing alone at the forefront to face Shen Fanyun. The atmosphere became heavy and oppressive.
After a long moment, Yu Zheng’s cheek twitched. He summoned his courage and said, "Do you... do you think I’m a pushover? Trying to scare me with that thing?"
"Shouldn’t you be considering just who I am and what kind of person carries something like this?" Shen Fanyun replied with a smile.
His words hit Yu Zheng’s nerve. This was clearly not an ordinary person. Besides, forget ordinary people; even the rich and powerful wouldn’t dare carry such an item openly.
"Who... who the hell are you?" Yu Zheng asked, forcing the words out.
Shen Fanyun said, "Go on, take them. I want to see exactly how you abduct women in broad daylight. Don’t be a coward. Show me the extent of your courage, Mr. Yu."
Yu Zheng was speechless.
