Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Little bastard, you’re making me embarrassed!

She was wearing a white, floral-print long dress today, which gave Shen Fanyun the perfect opportunity. Otherwise, if she were in jeans or sportswear, would he have had such an easy time? He certainly wouldn’t have been able to get them off so quickly and cleanly.

"Right here? Is this okay?" Shen Fanyun asked.

Lin Meiqing was silent, neither agreeing nor refusing.

"I’m starting now, okay?" Shen Fanyun’s gentle voice echoed in her ear once more.

Lin Meiqing found herself panting as Shen Fanyun’s hands began to roam. He lifted her long dress. A sudden coolness, followed by the heat of his large hands, made Lin Meiqing subconsciously arch her perfectly curved hips.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Her phone suddenly rang.

"Shit!" Shen Fanyun cursed aloud. Why did something always have to go wrong at the most crucial moment? "Who the hell is calling at this hour?"

He grumbled and pulled out his phone. The voice-activated light had already switched on, illuminating Lin Meiqing as she readjusted her clothes with a smirk. "You can’t blame Auntie for this," she gloated. "It’s just your bad luck, hehe."

Although she was gloating, Lin Meiqing actually felt a twinge of regret. How nice it would have been if we hadn’t been interrupted. Just a little more, just a tiny bit more, and he would have been inside. I was all ready for it, too. This call came at the worst possible time!

Shen Fanyun was at a loss for words.

"It’s your phone," he reminded her, his face dark.

Only then did Lin Meiqing realize. She quickly checked her phone and saw it was a call from Lin Jia.

"Mom, why aren’t you home yet? Should I come downstairs to get you? It’s getting late. You should come back and rest!" Lin Jia’s concerned voice came from the other end.

Lin Meiqing smiled. "I’m already downstairs in the complex."

"Oh, okay. I’ll come down with a flashlight to meet you."

CLICK!

Lin Jia was fast, not giving her mother any chance to refuse before hanging up. This completely extinguished any hope Shen Fanyun had of stalling for a few more minutes.

At the same time, the sound of a heavy door closing echoed from the top floor, followed by a beam of light descending and the thudding of footsteps.

"Mom! Mom, are you down there?" Lin Jia deliberately raised her voice as she walked. This wasn’t her being dramatic; it was purely for safety. A loud voice could easily intimidate bad guys.

"Aren’t you leaving yet? I’m going home now," Lin Meiqing said, turning to Shen Fanyun. She shot him a playful look, a mischievous grin spreading across her face, her gloating expression perfectly clear.

Huffing in annoyance, Shen Fanyun leaned in and nipped at her playfully a few times. Caught by surprise, Lin Meiqing could only let him have his way.

"What time do you set up your stall tomorrow?" he asked curiously.

Realizing what he was getting at, Lin Meiqing deliberately refused to answer. "I’m not telling you."

"Then I’m not going home tonight. I’ll just sit downstairs and wait for Lin Jia to leave for work, then I’ll come up," Shen Fanyun stated earnestly.

"What?" Lin Meiqing’s eyes widened. He’d do that? Isn’t he being a little too desperate? Can’t he just take things slowly?

"Huh? Manager?" Lin Jia had arrived surprisingly fast. Before Shen Fanyun could turn and slip away, her head suddenly popped out from the stairwell.

"Jiajia," Shen Fanyun greeted with a smile.

"Why are you with my mom?" Lin Jia asked, looking back and forth between them.

Shen Fanyun spread his hands and smiled. "I was actually planning to have dinner with you and your mom tonight, but you were working overtime.

"So, I got to enjoy it all by myself. I was leaving just as she got off work. You know me, I’m a helpful guy, so I volunteered to walk her home!"

Him, Shen Fanyun, walking me home out of the kindness of his heart? Ha! What a load of bullshit! Lin Meiqing thought.

Lin Jia didn’t think much of it. "Oh, I see. Well, thank you, Manager."

"How’s the resignation process going?" Shen Fanyun couldn’t resist asking.

To his surprise, Lin Jia shook her head, looking displeased. "It’s a bit of a hassle."

"That old witch is back at the original company," she explained. "Lately, she’s been looking for any excuse to give us trouble, trying to block us from signing our non-compete agreements."

A non-compete agreement? If they sign that, they won’t be able to join Su Xiyang’s new company. And ’that old witch’? Shen Fanyun had a pretty good idea who she meant.

"If you run into any problems you can’t solve, tell me. I’ll handle it," he told Lin Jia with a confident snap of his fingers.

Lin Jia smiled. "Our Manager really does have a heart of gold. I get it, hehe."

"Let’s go, time to head home," Lin Jia said to her mother.

As Lin Jia started up the stairs, Lin Meiqing took the chance to whisper a farewell to Shen Fanyun. "Well, I’m heading back then. Be careful on your way."

"Right now I’m full of frustrated energy. Other people should be the ones watching out for their safety. What could happen to me?"

Lin Meiqing gave him a meaningful look. Before leaving, as if she had made up her mind, she pulled out a spare key and pressed it into his hand. "Jiajia leaves for work at seven-thirty every morning."

Hmm? This woman really gets it, doesn’t she?

A grin finally broke out across Shen Fanyun’s face. He clutched the key she had given him and said softly, "Well then, see you in the morning!"

Lin Meiqing rolled her beautiful eyes and turned to head upstairs.

"Mom, why is your face so red? Are you feeling hot?"

As the mother and daughter faded into the distance, Shen Fanyun stood in the stairwell and finished a cigarette before turning to leave. The moonlight was like water.

What a wonderful day.

He lifted his hand again, gripping the spare key Lin Meiqing had given him, filled with anticipation. Twelve hours to go. Not too long.

「Back in her apartment」

Lin Meiqing told Lin Jia to go to bed first. Then she began looking for clothes, planning to take a shower.

I wonder if Shen Fanyun got home safely...

Picking up her phone, she sent him a message. "Have you gotten home?"

"I’m near your place. I’m not sleeping tonight," he replied.

Lin Meiqing was stunned. "Stop fooling around and go home to rest."

Shen Fanyun pouted and texted back, asking what she was doing. She replied with two words: "Showering!"

"Let me see," he wrote.

Lin Meiqing was baffled.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Immediately after, he brazenly started a video call. Lin Meiqing felt both shy and awkward, torn between answering and rejecting him outright.

Finally, she slowly typed, "I... I’m a little embarrassed... I’ve never done anything like this before."

"I... I..." This is just too mortifying!

She held her buzzing phone, hoping he would understand and not push her. But... Why is he so annoyingly persistent?

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

That little rascal was calling again.

"So annoying," Lin Meiqing mumbled, covering her mouth. The warm yellow light illuminated her flushed, water-splashed cheeks. After a moment, she finally gave in, answered the call, and spoke hurriedly. "Have you seen enough? If so, I’m going to take my shower. It’s late, and I need to rest."

Shen Fanyun wanted to cry but had no tears. He had his face pressed against the phone screen. Seen enough? I haven’t seen a single damn thing!
