Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 237: As Long as You Like It, Who Cares What They Do
Last time at the mall, Natalie Vaughn headed straight for her favorite store, but this time, she dragged Zane Thorne into the men’s clothing store.
Zane rarely went shopping with her, so she was determined to savor the experience of picking out clothes for her man and sending him off to try them on.
Seeing Natalie so enthusiastic, the man went along with her, but once inside, he squeezed her hand.
"Don’t overdo it."
Men seem to have an inexplicable aversion to shopping for clothes, even Zane, who is quite particular about his attire, usually picks the style himself and has the brand send it to his door.
Picking clothes in-store and then trying them on like this is a first for him.
Precisely because it’s the first time, Natalie is exceptionally excited; within just ten minutes of entering the store, she’s already picked out over a dozen outfits for Zane.
Zane: ....
"Sweetheart, know when to stop."
Natalie was still busy picking outfits for Zane.
"What can I do? You have a great figure and you’re handsome; I feel like any clothes you wear will look good on you."
The man’s furrowed brows smoothed out, and the sales clerk beside them didn’t need to speak; just that one sentence was more effective than any sales pitch she had.
What Natalie said was true; she truly thought that Zane, with his looks and figure, could pull off any outfit, merely changing clothes for a different feel. She really did picture what Zane would look like in anything she saw.
Anyway... changing clothes was a hassle for him, not her, tee-hee.
Despite Natalie’s sweet words, after trying on five outfits, Zane couldn’t stand it any longer. He grabbed Natalie’s hand.
"Sweetheart, since everything looks good on me, there’s no need to try them all."
Natalie, being someone who goes shopping and attacks her favorites directly in a quick and decisive manner, understands the pain of trying on clothes. Moreover, Zane is indeed busy; it’s not easy for him to take an hour to accompany her shopping.
She couldn’t bear it, either.
"Okay, then let’s not try them on. Let’s wrap up everything we’ve picked."
The sales clerk took the clothes; her professionalism couldn’t prevent the ’reckless’ smile on her lips.
Was Goddess of Fortune smiling down on her today? These clothes were almost half the store’s stock, and at the end of the year, hitting a sales target so unexpectedly! Commissions! Year-end bonuses! Here I come!
While the packing was happening, Natalie leaned close to Zane and whispered.
"Wear them all for me later."
Zane lowered his gaze and discreetly pinched Natalie’s waist.
Natalie’s remark reminded him. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Remember what you promised me back when I was in Altara?"
The topic changed so quickly that Natalie couldn’t keep up.
"What?"
With a smile, the man lowered his head, almost biting Natalie’s ear as he whispered those words. Natalie’s face flushed instantly, as if startled, she quickly pushed Zane away.
Zane laughed and wrapped his arm around Natalie’s waist.
"Are we going to buy it now?"
Natalie glared at Zane fiercely.
"No, buy your head!"
This damn man, why does he always have those thoughts?
Zane wasn’t angry even after being glared at and scolded; instead, he laughed even harder. His little lady, as daring as she was, sometimes really couldn’t handle teasing, behaving like a little rabbit.
In the end, they walked into the mall sweetly in love, but Natalie walked out in a huff, storming out with anger.
Tsk, not really angry, rather embarrassed.
Zane followed leisurely behind her, with hands in his pockets, his eyes full of affection, from time to time adding a word.
"Slow down."
What was the hurry in high heels?
...
When the two returned to the group headquarters building, it was ten minutes to three, and GN Group’s employees noticed something.
The lady seemed to be mad at President Thorne.
But what puzzled them was, why did she blush when she was mad, and why was President Thorne smiling when she was angry?
Since GN Group specializes in racing and sports events, the male-to-female ratio was an outrageous 8:2. A group of honest, adorable, and single men didn’t understand what flirting between couples meant. They didn’t understand that sometimes when a woman is angry, she’s not really angry, just shy.
Inside the private elevator, Zane moved forward wanting to hold Natalie.
"Still mad?"
Natalie shook off the man’s hand.
"Don’t touch me."
Yet Zane shamelessly went forward and wrapped his arm around Natalie’s waist.
"If not you, who should I touch?"
"I don’t care who you touch."
With that, Natalie tried hard to pry the man’s hand away, but as long as Zane was unwilling, how could Natalie succeed?
In this playful resistance, the elevator reached the top floor, and Seraphina Sutton was waiting in front of it.
"President Thorne, regarding The Blackwood Group..."
The words halted; Seraphina froze for two seconds upon seeing the scene in the elevator, then lowered her head.
The couple stopped their playful banter; Natalie patted Zane’s hand on her waist, and this time he let go promptly.
The man’s voice turned cold.
"Let her keep waiting."
"Yes."
Seraphina hastily got away from the chill zone.
Zane pulled Natalie into the office and, once the door was closed, she immediately let go of his hand and went into the room, Zane paused, then followed, seeing Natalie tidying up in front of the mirror.
The man chuckled softly.
"You’re prettier than her anyway."
Natalie glared at Zane.
"You’re like a peacock spreading its tail, attracting all sorts of unwanted attention."
Zane: ...What do these two comments have to do with each other?
"Okay, blame me, perhaps my lady can help me fix it later."
Natalie’s hands paused.
"You really want me to go?"
"Why not?"
"But the collaboration..."
Zane’s eyes turned cold, and he let out a sarcastic chuckle.
"The Blackwood Family isn’t up to the mark."
Even without the Serena Blackwood incident, the Blackwood Family wasn’t the top choice for a partnership with GN Group in terms of hard powers. The racing and sports events industry are lucrative fields, not a pie to be shared by just anyone.
"Alright, then I know how much I can play with here."
Of course, it’s about embarrassing Yvonne Blackwood as much as possible.
Zane just smiled, full of doting affection.
"Mm."
That attitude finally stopped Natalie’s embarrassment and anger from earlier. Once tidied up, she approached the man who in turn lowered his head, letting Natalie wrap her arms around his neck and tiptoe to peck him on the lips.
This reminded her that she forgot to mention the lipstick mark left on Zane’s chin from the morning. Tsk, he went through half the day with a lipstick mark at work, did he not notice?
Natalie pretended to be affectionate, wiping Zane’s chin a couple of times with her hand.
But after so long, it wasn’t easy to clean off, and as she tried pretending to rub his face to wipe it off, Zane grabbed her hand.
"Okay, do you plan to turn my face red too?"
Natalie blinked, awkwardly chuckling.
"You knew?"
Zane smiled, tapping her lips with his index finger twice.
"Your little scheme was too obvious."
Natalie, feeling guilty, touched her nose.
"Then why didn’t you wipe it off? Aren’t you worried your subordinates would get the wrong idea?"
The man nonchalantly raised an eyebrow.
"As long as you like it, who cares about them?"
