Chapter 386: 386 "Please step into the urn

[Margaret’s Perspective]

Thankfully, the sudden knocking at the door didn’t let my restlessness linger too long. I turned to look and to my surprise, it was Levi who had come.

He was alone, with no Henry following behind him.

I raised my eyebrows slightly, watching him step by step as he walked in, "Is everyone on your island this idle? The first thing in the morning is to come and watch the captive?"

Levi seemed indifferent to my sarcasm. He picked a spot to sit down on his own, and only when he looked up at me again did he speak, "I didn’t sleep all night because Licia’s yard was breached!"

I didn’t expect Levi to be so direct in telling me the news, so I looked at him silently, not joining the conversation.

Seeing my lack of reaction, Levi sighed and continued, "Though the patrol team discovered the enemy’s attack immediately, and Henry ordered a thorough search of the island right away, they just couldn’t find where the person was hiding! They can’t turn into plants or trees, nor can they vanish into thin air, so why can’t they be found?"

I didn’t think Levi had come to complain to me. Given he’d said so much to himself, there must be something waiting for me next.

Thinking this, I still looked at him with cold eyes, "What exactly are you trying to say?"

Levi’s eyes flashed as I spoke to him, then he continued, more cheerfully, "Henry is afraid they’ll discover your location, so he’s had the hospital surrounded inside and out. I’m curious when they’ll expose themselves to rescue you, so I came over early to keep watch!"

I was utterly speechless at his words, huffing back at him, "What a nice ’invitation into the urn’ you’ve set up. It seems you can’t wait for Donald to realize I’m here, and then ambush him with elite troops and well-designed traps, waiting for him to fall into the net!"

Levi raised an eyebrow at me and remained noncommittal.

I took a deep breath and continued, "Donald isn’t as foolish as you think. He won’t miss such an obvious trap. You won’t succeed!"

"That’s not necessarily true," Levi immediately countered, his eyes filled with cynicism and mockery, "Henry said Donald would rather die in your place, if he knows you’re here, how can he bear not to rescue you? The battle between us is inevitable; it can’t be avoided."

After murmuring that last sentence, I looked at him, feeling somewhat baffled, "You seem pretty confident that you can defeat Donald. I’m rather curious where such confidence comes from. Is it all because of the elusive Poison Snake Island Master?"

"Do you even realize what kind of army you’re up against? Donald would mobilize the entire strength of the Wolf Royal Family to eradicate Henry. Ordinary irregular soldiers or mercenaries stand no chance against a large-scale assault. It’s only a matter of time before this island is flattened. If you’re thinking of using me to negotiate any terms with Donald, I’d advise you to abandon that hope. I would rather die than be a burden to Donald!"

The half-truths I was trying to use to brainwash Levi—even if they couldn’t undermine his resolve to face Donald head-on, I still hoped to plant a seed of doubt and insecurity in his mind. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Levi was quiet as I finished speaking, his eyes intensely focused on me.

After a moment, he scoffed in mockery, as if he found my expression quite amusing, "Has Henry ever mentioned that there’s a special kind of cuteness about you? It’s an innocence that no one has the heart to shatter. Are you trying to convince me to turn over a new leaf? Hahaha!"

As Levi spoke, he suddenly stopped laughing and said coldly to me, "It’s too late now, there’s no going back. Donald won’t forgive those who have betrayed him, and neither can I."

Neither Donald nor I had delved into the fundamental reason for Levi’s alliance with Henry. He was like a particularly prickly conundrum; anyone who even thought of getting a closer look would find themselves viciously pricked until bleeding from the face!

At this point, I couldn’t comprehend the significance of Levi’s words. I frowned at him, finding this man’s madness somewhat terrifying, his thoughts incomprehensible to a normal person.

"The duty doctor told me you smashed all the medicine given to you. Why? Don’t you remember how you were rolling in pain on the ground yesterday?"

Levi’s change in topic surprised me. I frowned and locked eyes with him, not responding.

But given his bizarre way of thinking, it seemed he didn’t need me to speak anyway, "Henry was genuinely distraught over you. I had never seen him look so worried before—it was really something! If he had said you were his lover, I might have believed it at the time..."

"Shut your mouth!" I couldn’t stand his madman-like babbling any longer and sharply interrupted him.

Levi mockingly closed his mouth and looked at me with amusement in his eyes.

"Get out!" I continued.

Levi casually crossed his legs with a provocative posture, looking at me, motionless.

After taking several deep breaths, unable to contain my urge, I turned my head away, fearing I’d lose control and strike him the next second!
