A Night of Desire-Chapter 166: President Quinn Likes Madam, so It’s Only Natural to Give Her Clothes
Thinking Seth Quinn had returned, she opened the door, about to ask why he was back, but when she looked up, she saw it was Chase Childs.
Although she had never met Chase Childs before, she had seen him by Seth Quinn’s side at the opening ceremony earlier. Now, glancing down at the suitcase by his feet, she knew he had to be the Assistant Childs that Seth Quinn had mentioned.
She hadn’t expected Chase Childs to be so fast. After a moment of surprise, she greeted him, "Assistant Childs."
Chase Childs nodded and gestured toward the suitcase. "Ma’am, President Quinn asked me to bring this up for you."
Clara Grant quickly stepped aside. "Sorry to trouble you, Assistant Childs."
Chase Childs helped her move the suitcase into the room. His eyes fell on the other suitcase in the corner, which she had opened. He smiled and said, "Ma’am, I hope the styles and colors of the clothes are to your liking?"
Clara Grant hadn’t even had a chance to look closely, so she had no idea what the styles were like. The colors, however, seemed to fit her usual taste, so she gave a slightly awkward nod. "Oh."
"It seems President Quinn knows you very well, Ma’am."
Since the topic had come up, Clara Grant decided to voice the question on her mind. "Assistant Childs, did Seth Quinn tell you to buy these clothes?"
"Yes, he did. The moment President Quinn saw the contents of that other suitcase, he instructed me to prepare a new suitcase and clothes. He was the one who specified the sizes, styles, and colors.
Thankfully, they sell all these things near the film studio, so getting them wasn’t too difficult. But it would have been very hard if we didn’t have enough time. Luckily, President Quinn reacted quickly, which bought us the time we needed."
Chase Childs wasn’t a talkative person by nature, but since it was the Ma’am asking, he held nothing back, even answering questions she hadn’t thought to ask.
Clara Grant felt a little embarrassed. At the time, she had uncharitably resented Seth Quinn for not speaking up for her. She never imagined that he had already figured out a solution and sent someone to take care of it.
"Then if there were things in the suitcase, why did he stop me from opening it?"
Chase Childs glanced at her. ’Their ma’am really is a bit naive,’ he thought. ’After all, she’s still a college student who hasn’t really seen the world yet.’
"These clothes are all brand new. An ordinary person might not notice without a close look, but people in the entertainment industry are sharp. They could probably tell with a single glance that everything was newly purchased."
Chase Childs didn’t have to finish for Clara Grant to understand. It’s one thing to pack a few new items for a trip, but for everything to be brand new would be highly unusual.
’Besides, these all look like expensive clothes. Given my status and income, I probably couldn’t afford them.’
’Opening the suitcase would have only made people more suspicious.’
"In that case, why did he waste all that time, effort, and money buying so much? He could have just given me an empty suitcase. With a word from a powerful CEO like him, no one would have dared to insist that I open it anyway."
Clara Grant asked again, still confused.
Chase Childs found himself admiring his ma’am’s line of thinking. ’What other reason could there be?’
"Er... Of course, it’s because President Quinn genuinely wanted to give you some clothes, Ma’am. President Quinn likes you, so it’s only natural for him to buy you a few things."
Clara Grant’s face reddened at his words. ’It seems that while Chase Childs knows we’re husband and wife, he must not know the real story behind our relationship.’
Seeing she had nothing more to say, Chase Childs took his leave. "Well, Ma’am, I’ll be going now. The president is waiting for me downstairs."
"Okay." Clara Grant assumed he meant Seth Quinn was waiting for him at the dinner in the first-floor hall, so she nodded and saw Chase Childs to the door.
