A Night of Desire-Chapter 165: She Feels Unworthy
"Suit yourself!"
He didn’t want to say another word to her. He turned sharply and left.
Just as he opened the door, Clara Grant’s voice stopped him from behind. "Seth Quinn..."
Seth Quinn’s tall, slender figure paused. He stopped walking but didn’t turn around.
"...Thank you!" Clara Grant finally managed to say it. Whether it was for getting her out of trouble or for preparing to punish Sandra, she knew she owed him her thanks.
Seth Quinn’s hand tightened on the doorknob, making his knuckles stand out sharply. Her saying "thank you" made their relationship feel so distant.
They didn’t need such formalities between them.
Instead of her polite thank you, he’d much rather have her throw herself at him, hang on to him, and thank him with a cute, coquettish kiss.
But he wasn’t going to get that kind of treatment right now. He probably wouldn’t for a long time.
After a moment of silence, he spoke with his back still to her. "Assistant Childs will bring your suitcase up in a bit. ...If you don’t want to go down for dinner, don’t. Just get some rest."
Clara Grant nodded silently, then realized he couldn’t see her and said aloud, "Okay, I got it."
After speaking, she hesitated, staring at his back and biting her lip.
’I actually want to tell him not to be so good to me for no reason,’ she thought. ’I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle it. Afraid I’ll just fall deeper and deeper for his kindness.’
Even though she knew he was only being nice to her to try and get her into bed, she felt guilty accepting it when she couldn’t repay him with her body.
But in the end, she didn’t say it out loud. She knew if she dared to say it, he would dare to get angry, and who knew how he’d punish her then.
’He’s been in my room long enough. What if someone sees him?’
When Clara Grant came back to her senses, she realized Seth Quinn had already left without another moment’s delay.
She let out a slow breath. For some reason, a trace of disappointment settled in her heart.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, she stared blankly at the closed door. Her fingers drifted to her red lips as she recalled the long, passionate kiss they had just shared. A blush crept up Clara Grant’s cheeks.
Maybe it was because he’d forced kisses on her so many times, but she found she no longer disliked them. She might even say she’d grown used to his kiss, his scent, his taste.
Realizing she was actually savoring the memory of that kiss, Clara Grant slapped her own mouth in frustration. Looking down, she saw she was still wearing her dirty pants and shoes and realized she had forgotten to change all this time.
She had planned to wait for Chase Childs to bring her suitcase before changing, but she didn’t know when he would arrive. Then she turned and saw the one in the corner.
She hesitated for a couple of seconds, then got up, walked over, laid the suitcase flat, and opened it. What she saw stunned her.
It was a suitcase packed full of clothes. Although the tags had all been cut off, she could tell they were all brand new and unworn.
Before opening it, she had assumed it was filled with some random junk. After all, it had felt quite heavy, not like it was empty.
But she never expected it to be so many clothes.
’This...’
’Did Seth Quinn prepare all of this for me?’
’How did he get so many clothes in such a short amount of time?’
Clara Grant figured there must be clothing stores around the film studio. ’Don’t tell me he just sent someone to a random store and had them buy so much?’
’If there were clothes in here, why didn’t he just let me open the suitcase then? Why did he go out of his way to stop me from checking it?’
Just as she was thinking this, she heard the doorbell ring.
