Chapter 61: Yellow Blossoms

Serena was washing the biggest furs first since they’d take the longest to clean and dry. Grace and Emma had a similar approach and were using the sides of large rocks in the shallow part of the river to scrub the furs against.

It made getting the dirt out much easier and Serena followed suit instead of dipping the furs in and scrubbing it together with her hands.

After a minute of doing this, Serena placed her hand under the fur and was about to retrieve her soap from her subspace when one of Emma’s cubs ran towards them.

"Mom! I found yellow blossoms!" The young rabbit cub yelled, holding up a small round flower with petals that curved up.

Emma turned away from her washing and glanced over at her son, eyes widening at the sight of the yellow flower in his hands. She suddenly exclaimed, "Where did you find that, Simon?!"

"Over there." Simon pointed over to where the other cubs were playing a few meters away. "There’s a whole bunch of them around the bushes."

He handed over the flower to his mother and Serena watched, straightening up as she did so. She prayed that those flowers were not dangerous. Especially with Kiro so near them.

She had to resist running over to him and getting Kiro away. Emma wouldn’t be acting so calm if they were dangerous, would she?

After examining it for a moment and lifting it up to her nose to sniff, Emma let out a smile and said, "Simon, try and get as many of these as you can for me okay."

The cub eagerly nodded his head before he ran back to the other cubs. Soon, the four of them were on the ground, picking flowers. As they were doing so, Emma turned to Grace and Serena.

"Seems the cubs really found yellow blossoms." Emma declared. "I thought it would be too late in the season for them, but apparently not. The furs are going to smell so nice with these flowers."

Grace moved closer to the older beastwoman and took a sniff of the flower. She then exclaimed, "You’re right! I can’t believe this!"

"I know." Emma smiled, turning to Serena. She noticed the snow leopard beastwoman’s confusion and explained, "We use these flowers to give the furs a nice smelling scent. You crush them while scrubbing the furs and they create a foam. Scrub for a bit and then hang the fur to dry. I’ll show you how to do it once the cubs bring some more of them."

"Alright..." Serena nodded her head in understanding. Perhaps I can use these yellow blossoms instead of my soap. Maybe get some more on the side and save them in my subspace for future use.

They wouldn’t die in her subspace as time was essentially frozen there and could keep a stockpile of them whenever they weren’t in season. Which would work out better for her than just using her soap.

Because it was now one less thing she had to worry about keeping clean when her soap ran out.

The cubs soon returned with handfuls of blossoms which Emma split between the three beastwoman. Serena sent a few on the sly into her subspace as she watched Emma show her how to use them.

She scrubbed her fur against the side of the rock for a bit before placing the yellow blossom in the center of the fur. She then went back to scrubbing, crushing the flower in the fur as she worked.

Within seconds yellow foam appeared along with a strong scent in the air. It was quite fresh, making Serena understand why they used it on their furs. Once Emma got the foam all over the fur, she wrung it out and moved to a nearby tree branch to let it dry.

"Does that make sense?" Emma asked, turning back to Serena once she hung up the fur.

Serena nodded her head. "It does, thank you."

Emma beamed at her words and got back to washing out the other furs. Serena followed suit and went back to washing her own furs. The cubs would sometimes come by to help with the washing, but they mostly ran around playing.

A few times, Serena and Emma had to yell at them to not stray too far from them because while this place was fairly safe for them, they were still outside the perimeter of the village. Danger could be lurking around.

They were halfway done with washing when Emma’s mate came by. He immediately took over from Emma, having her relax in the grass nearby and even offered to help finish up Grace and Serena’s leftover washing.

The two beastwomen declined the offer, Grace only having a few furs left and Serena not being comfortable with the offer. She already owed Emma enough with all the knowledge and skills she was gaining from the older beastwoman.

It was midday when Serena was finally finished with all the washing. By then, some of the smaller furs had dried and she packed them away in her basket, enjoying the faint scent lingering on them.

She’d definitely need to find more of the yellow blossoms and perhaps see if there were more flowers like it. There probably was seeing as her soap had a different scent to the blossoms.

Grace and Emma were also checking their furs and packing away the dry ones. As they did that, Serena had Kiro show her where the cubs had found the yellow blossoms.

He eagerly showed her and Serena made note of what the plant looked like before secretly picking a few more and adding them into her subspace. She didn’t want to take everything, wanting to leave enough so there’d be more blossoms next time.

She soon returned to check on the rest of her furs. A few had dried, but most were still damp. Just as she was taking a fur down to pack away, a system notification suddenly popped up.
