A New Life In The Beast World-Chapter 60: Washing Furs
Serena leaned her head on a large boulder by the stream bed, enjoying the cool water caressing her body. A mix of blue and green moonlight reflected off the clear water along with the countless bright stars in the night sky.
The stream she was bathing in was quite peaceful with a few animal noises in the distance and the gently rustling of grass and leaves as a gentle breeze blew by. No one was around to bother her.
The nights were beginning to get much colder as the cold season approached, so Serena wanted to enjoy a cool, nightly bath as much as possible before it became too cold for her to do this.
Her muscles also deserved the cool water on them after all that work carrying wood. As promised, she did indeed do two more trips back to the village before she called it quits.
By then, most of the wood had been chopped up and Theo completed several trips to the village with the bundles of wood Serena created for him. By the time the sun was setting they had managed to finish up for the day.
They managed to collect exactly one hundred bundles of wood which Serena was happy with. Over half the firewood task was done with just seventy five more bundles needed for her to complete the system quota.
They also would need wood for their coop project and ladder, but they decided to get that done tomorrow. Both Theo and Serena were beat from all that manual labor and wanted to rest.
Another cold breeze blew past Serena and she shivered, deciding it was time to get out. She wanted to cool off, not get a cold. Rising from the water, Serena stepped out of the stream and walked over to grab her towel.
She wasn’t worried much about being nude since this was a spot only females were allowed. And she doubted anyone would be around to wash up at this time.
Most of the rabbit beastwomen washed up in the afternoon when the water was slightly warmer thanks to the sun. If they did wash up at all. Hygiene wasn’t that much of a big deal and some beastwomen only washed every once in a while when they felt they were beginning to stink.
Serena couldn’t do that. She needed to bathe at least once a day to feel clean and sometimes she did it twice. But that normally only happened after a nightmare because she was trying to limit herself.
The soap Theo had given her would only last her so long before it finished. And Serena dreaded that a bit because she had yet to find an alternative.
The system shop did have hygiene products, but Serena was trying to avoid relying on the system shop as much as possible. She didn’t want to waste coins when she could possibly find a solution herself.
Sighing, Serena quickly dried herself before putting on her fur dress. She made a mental note to get some washing done. It had been a while since she’d had time to wash all her furs and she was done to her last set of clothes.
Not to mention, the fur bedding was starting to stink. It would be a mission to clean, but that was better than having a weird smell in the hut. Although, the herbs she’d been hanging up to dry were hiding that smell a bit.
Once she was done getting dressed, Serena slowly headed back to the village, her muscles aching a little as she walked back.

The next morning, Theo headed out early to chop more wood. Meanwhile, Serena took Kiro with her to wash up all their furs. She wasn’t sure when she was going to get the next chance to do it and wanted laundry out of the way.
Thankfully, the sun was out, so things would dry once they were washed. When they got to the village entrance, they ran into Emma and Grace who were carrying baskets on their backs.
Three of Emma’s cubs who were two years older than Kiro were with them too. Grace waved at Serena upon seeing her.
"Serena!" Grace called out. "Are you going to do some washing too?"
"I am..." Serena nodded her head. Her eyes then shifted to their baskets. "I guess you two are doing the same."
"Yes." Emma replied, leading them out of the village. "We’re doing a final big clean up of our hut before the cold season comes in. Plus, all these furs have been lying around and need some washing before we use them again."
"I see..." Serena mused as the group made their way to the river. "I take it your mates are busy preparing for the cold season."
The four cubs ran ahead of the three beastwomen and were playing some sort of game, trying to see who was the fastest. Serena kept her eye on them as she spoke, however, they didn’t stray too far from the beastwomen. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"They are, so these three are coming with us too." Emma glanced over at her cubs. "I plan to have them help me, but I don’t think that’s going to happen..."
"I won’t mind helping out once I’m done." Serena offered the older beastwoman.
It wasn’t really out of the kindness of her heart, but rather to silently repay the older beastwoman for teaching her how to weave baskets. The skill had come in handy and Serena already had several baskets, both underneath the hut and in her subspace.
Emma waved a hand. "It’s no worries. One of my mates will come by soon. He’ll help me finish up whatever I don’t get done."
Serena nodded in understanding and the group fell silent for a bit. For once it wasn’t an awkward silence, but rather a peaceful one. They soon got to the river and found a few others already there, washing their furs.
It seemed everyone was washing their furs in preparation for the cold season. Most of the people doing the washing were beastmen, but there were also two other beastwomen as well.
Serena couldn’t quite recall their names, only having met them once during the bonfire party, but they were friendly enough, greeting the trio as they passed by. Once they found a spot by the river, they got to work washing the furs.
