Chapter 586: I don’t remember.

The rehabilitation therapist Coco was a young Asian woman, with a very Westernized makeup style. Upon seeing Lady Stephens and Daisy Ginger approach, she softly and considerately said to Edward Stephens, "I’ll step out first, you guys talk."

Edward glanced at her, furrowing his brow slightly, before quickly retracting his gaze. Daisy watched his action, sensing that Edward heavily relied on his rehabilitation therapist.

Even though she knew this jealousy was untimely, Daisy couldn’t help but feel a twinge of bitterness on the tip of her tongue. She furrowed her brows and said nothing more, instead turning around to push open the door to the hospital room.

Edward’s private hospital room was spacious and bright. At this moment, the large windows were open, and brilliant sunlight poured onto the white tiles and the light-colored bedcovers. The air had a faint scent of disinfectant. Several pieces of rehabilitation equipment were placed in the corner, and a bouquet of purple roses sat at the head of the bed, likely brought by Lady Stephens; they were the same color as the roses in the vases at her home.

With just a blink, she had taken in the entire room’s décor and silently walked over to sit on the black leather sofa. Daisy raised her head and looked at Edward, who was being pushed in by Lady Stephens.

He was also looking at her.

A familiar face, yet with unfamiliar eyes. Daisy felt a bit disoriented, as if she had returned to when they first met in Banyan City, and he had looked at her with the same unfamiliar gaze.

Lady Stephens helped Edward onto the bed and carefully covered him with a blanket before kindly saying to him, "Edward, this is Daisy. She came all the way from Banyan City to see you. You two chat; I’ll be right outside the door. Just call if you need anything."

Edward frowned as he looked at the woman sitting upright on the sofa not far away.

The afternoon sunlight quietly shone on her. Half of her pale face was bathed in light, revealing fine, clear vellus hairs. Her jet-black hair and bright red lips contrasted richly, yet her aura was cold, like a beauty made of snow.

Even though he hadn’t been awake for long and hadn’t seen many people, he knew that someone with her looks must be extremely beautiful.

He asked, "Who is she?"

"She’s..." Lady Stephens hesitated, coughing lightly, as she seemed unsure of how to explain, simply saying, "Let Daisy tell you later. I’ll step out now."

As if unable to handle the situation before her, Lady Stephens hurriedly left. When the door was softly closed, Daisy slowly came to her senses and softly said to Edward, "I’m your ex-wife."

Her voice was gentle and calm. As she spoke, she kept her gaze on the man’s expression.

She always believed that Edward was deceiving her. How could he possibly have amnesia? Clearly, after the accident, he held her hand with a clear mind and recognized her distinctly.

How could he just conveniently forget everything once in Chicago?

Impossible. He must have some unspeakable secret, forcing him to feign amnesia.

The man’s expression showed no significant reaction when she uttered those words. He slowly leaned back against the head of the bed, his gaze on her somewhat indifferent and distant. "As you can see, I don’t remember. If you’ve come all this way to ask for alimony, you’ll need to provide legal documentation. Once my lawyer verifies its authenticity, I’ll deposit these months’ alimony into your account."
