[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go - Chapter 254: Ch : Rin, have you forgotten?
’I need to find time to talk to Rin. But this darn class and these darn teachers...’
Caelis had tried to find time to get Rin alone, but because Rin was a new face and had also been made to sit beside Caelis, he was gaining too much sympathy, and people kept coming up to check on him.
Usually, Caelis would have threatened others to give him and Rin space. But that was a time when Rin was completely dependent on him.
Right now, he had no idea how long Rin had been in this world or what his personality was like. He did not even know whether Rin recognized him or not. So he kept looking for a chance to talk to Rin the whole day.
That’s how the day ended-with Caelis unable to get a single word in or even call out to him.
But he finally got his chance once the day ended and it was time for everyone to go home. Caelis followed Rin out, but the other esper did not say much or even acknowledge his presence.
Finally, Caelis gathered his courage and reached out toward Rin.
"Excuse me-"
"Rin, there you are. Come here. We need to head home as soon as possible... Oh, hello! Are you Rin’s friend? It’s nice to meet you, dear."
The person who came to take Rin away and extended his hand toward Caelis was not Shuu, but someone else.
’Why is... Rin not with Shuu? Does that mean I was mistaken yesterday as well about seeing Shuu?’
That left an extremely bitter taste in Caelis’s mouth, to the point where he found it hard to control himself. His body was shaking, and his eyes were quivering with annoyance.
Rin looked at the guide in front of him with pure annoyance in his eyes, and the guide looked taken aback, worried about whether he had done something wrong.
"Excuse me, but do I know you? Do you need something from me? You keep looking at me with that expression..."
The unknown guide asked as he pulled Rin closer to him in an attempt to protect him.
But Caelis was not a danger to Rin. He was never a danger to Rin and had always tried to protect him. So why would the unknown guide try to get between them?
And not only that, but he was also hiding Rin from Caelis, and that felt unacceptable.
Rin looked at Caelis with calm eyes as well, and Caelis tried to tell him that he was not a danger and that Rin could come out and trust him.
That seemed to be working, and Rin started to reach out slowly... only for his hand to be grabbed by the stranger, and then he was being led away.
"We have spent enough time here. We need to hurry back now. The others are waiting to hear how your first day went."
Rin’s face lit up at those words, and it was an expression Caelis had seldom seen on his face before.
That unfiltered joy and happiness left him speechless-and jealous at the same time. It made rage boil inside Caelis, and he wanted to tear that joy apart.
’Don’t look so happy like that-! It is not fair! This is not fair! We are your family, the ones who missed you the most. Don’t look at others with that expression. I... cannot take it if you do.’
Caelis had not lost control of his powers ever since he was born. But right now, his balance felt unstable, and he felt like he was about to lose control at any second.
This was not fair. His body was not listening to his mind. He needed to calm down before he caused an accident-
"Oh no-! That’s an esper losing control. Rin, stay here. I need to guide him-"
Secretary Ann ran toward Caelis without hesitation in order to try to calm him down. His hands reached to grab Caelis, and his voice turned soft.
"You can calm down now. There is no one here to hurt you. Now, close your eyes and allow my powers-"
"No-! Get away from me. I don’t need you or your powers... Just leave me alone."
The guiding was making things worse. Caelis felt like he was about to lose his mind and attack anyone he saw.
Secretary Ann had never seen a reaction to guiding like this, and he tried to guide even harder. But Caelis only got angrier and smacked the secretary away.
That caused Rin to react immediately, and he placed himself between the secretary and Caelis.
"Please stop."
Those were Rin’s first words this whole time, and his eyes looked far more determined than Caelis had ever seen them before.
Somehow, a small but desperate laugh broke out of Caelis’s mouth, and he could not help but look a little sick.
"You are... defending him against me? Rin, do you truly not realize who I am? Or do you not care? Is your new family better than us-"
Rin’s eyes widened just a little, and doubt began to swirl inside them. He took a step toward Caelis hesitantly, and finally, it seemed like things might return to normal.
Beepppppp
[This is a warning. A dungeon has opened inside the institute. You are all advised to remain calm and- scrteechhhh]
The warning signal cut off the speech before the speakers blew out.
Horrifying noises came from the speaker room, causing everyone to let out a yell in panic.
"Fuck-! A dungeon, and in here?"
"A-Are we all going to die? I am not ready to fight a monster."
"I-I need my mommy! Someone, save me."
People were justifiably terrified.
Despite this being a school for the gifted, most of the people here were privileged and had never seen any hardships in their lives. They were not ready for a dungeon just yet. And that meant that someone had to take command and calm everyone down.
Unfortunately, that person was not Caelis.
