[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go - Chapter 243: Ch : New School Admission
"I don’t think there is an error in the readings, Secretary Ann. I think that our dear guest is much more powerful than we first expected. That is all."
Yuri’s words caused everyone to pause and give him a wide-eyed look.
The one who looked the most startled was Secretary Ann. The poor man looked like he was ready to faint at any second.
"Sir, please don’t say that. Consider the place and timing of what you are saying. Also, this is a kid. You cannot put so much pressure on a kid by saying all this."
Secretary Ann tried to make the situation lighter, but Yuri did not take his words back. If anything, he looked even more curious to see how Shuu and Rin would react.
But there was not much to react to.
The shocking news was so shocking that the pair it was about could not even comprehend what was happening. They looked at Yuri with shocked expressions that made Yuri let out startled laughter.
"Alright, maybe it is my fault for expecting a little too much from you both. But anyway, you don’t have to be so startled. Now that you are a part of this family, I will do my best to protect you."
Shuu nodded and ignored Secretary Ann’s annoyed glance. Instead, he followed Yuri outside, and they headed toward his new room.
It was located in the employees’ quarters, and it was neither too big nor too small. It was just enough to fit him and Rin.
Somehow, the decent size and simple nature of this room put Shuu at ease. He did not feel as burdened as he expected, and he quickly turned around to give Yuri a small bow to show his gratitude.
"Thank you for all the help you have been giving me until now. None of this would have been possible without your support."
Shuu kept his head bowed, and Yuri nodded back at him with a grin.
"It’s not a big deal. Since you are family now, this is the least I could do for you. If you need anything else, then make sure to ask Secretary Ann. He will take care of all your needs."
Secretary Ann looked startled by this new responsibility. He did not want to take on such a heavy burden. That much was clear to see in his eyes.
But as sorry as Shuu felt for the secretary, he also knew that it was for his own benefit to keep the secretary close by.
Ultimately, Secretary Ann realized his fate and decided to give up. He turned toward Shuu and asked him and Rin to sit down.
"I am going to go over more rules with you, and then you can look through the academy options for Rin. He will need to undergo control training for his esper powers and basic studies. We have decided to have him classified as a B-ranked esper for now, but we can change that anytime."
Secretary Ann declared, and the more he spoke, the more questions Shuu had. But he did not want to disturb the secretary, so he allowed him to finish speaking before he spoke up.
Not that he got the time to do that.
As soon as Secretary Ann finished explaining the basics to Shuu, it was time for them to leave and check out Rin’s new academy and finalize it.
It was all happening far too fast. Shuu was not even getting time to catch his breath with everything that was happening. But he could not say that he was complaining.
The busier he was, the easier it was for him to breathe. He did not have to think about what he was doing or what was happening. His mind was not being tortured by his own thoughts either.
’It feels nice. Letting someone else take the lead is so relaxing.’
For now, Shuu was just along for the ride.
Secretary Ann led them into a clean and pristine facility. Children were dressed neatly around them, and their well-cared-for skin and expensive trinkets reminded Shuu of the rich kids back home.
He suddenly felt like he had to shield Rin from those looks.
Thankfully, Rin did not notice any of it and instead walked carelessly. He looked around with awe in his expression, which made Shuu feel a lot better about the situation.
They finally reached the office door, and Secretary Ann entered first to make preparations inside.
Shuu waited outside for him to come back, but he swore he could feel eyes on him the whole time. He looked up but did not notice anyone else in the vicinity who could have been watching him.
And yet, the intensity of those looks did not lessen even a little bit.
Before Shuu could get up to check what was happening, Secretary Ann came back with an almost annoyed look on his face.
"I have talked to the school board for now. They will admit Rin so he can start coming here tomorrow. Do you have any supplies for him? If not, then we will need to go and shop for them next."
Secretary Ann pointed out, and Shuu shook his head.
He did not have any supplies or anything that could help him here.
Secretary Ann sighed before he gestured for Shuu to follow him. They went shopping, and the eyes watching Shuu finally gave up and left him alone.
"What’s wrong? Did something happen? You keep looking back."
Secretary Ann asked once he noticed the oddity in Shuu’s behavior. It startled Shuu, and he stopped looking behind him. But he still could not shake the feeling that he was being followed.
"It’s nothing. I thought I saw someone following me, but maybe I was wrong and it was nothing."
Shuu turned back toward Secretary Ann and followed him out. But he still could not shake the feeling that someone was following him and keeping an eye on him. And that feeling stayed with him all the way until he reached his room.
