Chapter 1817: Chapter 1814: Zhao’s Father

Every hospital has an isolation emergency plan, and as soon as Director Liang heard it needed to be activated, he realized the seriousness of the situation. The veteran director immediately directed the doctors and nurses to transfer the patients to the intensive care unit.

The doctors were constantly busy, without a moment to pay attention to Lin Tian and Xu Feibai, who respectfully stayed aside watching. It was only after the patients were settled that Dr. Sun remembered Lin Tian and his companion.

Outside the entrance of the outpatient building, Dr. Sun found Lin Tian and Xu Feibai.

"Dr. Sun, may we see those two people?" Lin Tian politely inquired.

At this moment, Dr. Sun had just finished her work, with a slight sheen of sweat on her forehead, a sign of her exertion. Lin Tian deeply respected Dr. Sun— if all doctors were like her, there wouldn’t be so many doctor-patient disputes.

"You may see them, but only from outside the corridor, you cannot enter the isolation ward." Dr. Sun thought for a moment, not rejecting Lin Tian’s request. Then she asked, "But, I need to ask you some questions about the parasitic worms you mentioned. What’s going on? How did you determine this?"

"The head." Lin Tian pointed to his head and explained, "I lifted their hats and saw the worms, lots of them, as thin as hair strands. If you’re not careful, you won’t see them. These worms consume human essence, which is basically the nutrients of the host, and reproduce until the person is completely drained dry."

"Drained dry!" Dr. Sun’s face changed color, startled by Lin Tian’s words: "That’s... that’s too much! How do you know those parasites?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Uh, well, Professor He has recently been researching similar bugs, and I’ve been to the life science lab. Oh, and I’m a student at the College of Life Sciences." Lin Tian hesitated, somewhat troubled, so he only shared what he could. No mention of Jiang Chen, Gu worms—terms like those would surely label him as insane.

Even so, Dr. Sun was quite astonished: "You’re Professor He’s student? That’s not right, you’re so young, surely you’re still an undergraduate, yet Professor He only supervises doctoral students now, not undergraduates."

Professor He’s reputation is indeed significant; of course, the affiliated hospital is connected to Jinghua University, all part of the same system. Lin Tian pondered this, and then replied, "Professor He’s daughter is my classmate; I’ve visited Professor He."

"I see..." Professor Sun nodded slightly, lost in thought.

"Dr. Sun, shall we go have a look then?" Lin Tian reminded her.

"Oh, alright." Dr. Sun agreed, then led Lin Tian and Xu Feibai inside.

The three rode the elevator straight to the tenth floor. Exiting the elevator, there was none of the usual hustle of people waiting at a hospital, instead, it was very quiet, since this floor was the isolation area.

"Here, room 1013 and 1014..." Dr. Sun guided them to the front of the rooms; this was the intensive care unit area, with a glass curtain wall to observe inside the rooms.

Medical staff in protective gear were setting up monitoring equipment for Zhao Weitao and attaching an IV.

"We don’t yet know what kind of worms are parasitizing them, so we are temporarily administering nutrient solutions. We must obtain biological samples for targeted treatment." Dr. Sun explained.

As Dr. Sun said this, the medical staff were preparing to remove Zhao Weitao’s hat, and Lin Tian frowned: "Dr. Sun, these worms can fly and spread quickly. According to Professor He’s research, these worms fear sunlight. It’s best to collect biological samples under strong light to prevent the worms from flying out, which would make them difficult to handle."

Dr. Sun’s face changed again, quickly relaying through a communicator to shout inside: "Director Liang, the worms can fly and fear light; turn on the shadowless lamp, quickly."

Director Liang glanced over and then made an "OK" gesture. Following this, the shadowless lamp was turned on inside.

Xu Feibai looked for a moment, then turned and walked several meters away, leaning against a wall with a nonchalant expression, showing no sign of urgency.

Lin Tian approached, and Xu Feibai glanced at him: "You seem to like meddling."

"I don’t care about their life or death, but we can’t let others know about Jiang Chen’s existence. If above decides to completely block that place, completing your task would become exceedingly difficult. If you fail to complete your task, you’ll have countless excuses not to provide me with the blood." Lin Tian replied just as coldly.

"Hmph, I just need to find the passage entrance; who can stop me?" Xu Feibai snorted, utterly indifferent.

Indeed, even Zhang Lingyu couldn’t stop him. If there were those few who could stop him, unless the old guys from the Zhang Family got involved.

"You mentioned the passage entrance?" Lin Tian’s mind stirred, remembering last night’s dream: "Last night, I entered the passage again, and my mind was flooded with many images; two of them were the Broken Dragon Stone Gate and a dark corridor. I think this should be Jiang Chen’s hint."

"There’s the question of whether Jiang Chen is dead or not; even at this stage, hints can still be given." Lin Tian was quite puzzled.

Heeding Lin Tian’s words, Xu Feibai was startled, and could no longer maintain his cold demeanor: "You’ve received hints? Stone gate... stone gate..."

Once surprised, Xu Feibai murmured to himself and ignored Lin Tian’s question, instead pulling out his phone to make a call.

"Yasuo, conduct a thorough search in a carpet pattern centered around the basement. If you find stone gates, stone slabs, or similar items underground, report immediately!" Xu Feibai commanded forcefully.

It was an order, not a request; his relationship with Yasuo differed from Lin Tian’s with Rossi, as Yasuo was merely a tool or servant for him.

After hanging up, Lin Tian jokingly said: "You, the mighty Xu Feibai, actually uses a phone; that’s quite a novelty."

"Phones can enable Long-distance Transmission, which we, regardless of power, cannot achieve. This is the strength of humanity, the legendary Thousand-mile Eye, Sharp-Hearing Ear, Long-distance Transmission—humans accomplish all these with technology." Xu Feibai remarked seriously for once.

As the duo idly chatted, the elevator door opened, and a group of people hurried out. Leading them was a middle-aged man in a suit, not tall, but his eyes held authority, clearly the result of long-held power.

Particularly the middle-aged man had a tense face, and those accompanying him dared not breathe loudly.

"Liu Yuansi?" Lin Tian noticed a young man behind the middle-aged man, dressed fashionably, often seen with Zhao Weitao, indeed Liu Yuansi.

Beside Liu Yuansi were two young women, though not the socialite daughters from the last time. Perhaps they were new flames of Liu Yuansi or Zhao Weitao, as these wealthy offspring never lacked female attention.

Liu Yuansi immediately spotted Lin Tian; the corridor was empty, making Lin Tian conspicuously visible.

"Lin Tian..." Liu Yuansi was very surprised, staring intently at Lin Tian.

Yet the middle-aged man ignored Lin Tian and Xu Feibai, heading straight to room 1014’s isolation ward, yelling at Dr. Sun: "What happened? My son suddenly fainted and ended up in the hospital!"
