Ultimate Tamer Class: Genetic Engineer
Chapter 40: YOU DARE…
Kale’s eyes narrowed as he thought, ’So that’s why he was late? He was advancing to the Grandmaster rank. What a strong power! It seems he has stepped onto the Grandmaster rank as a Toolcrafter, Pillcrafter, and a Fleshcrafter simultaneously.’
Of course, Kale doubted whether the other Grandmasters could sense the true power his master was hiding within; to them, Lazek might only feel somewhat stronger than an average Grandmaster-rank entity.
His master spoke softly, "Everyone, please continue what you were doing. My advancement into the Grandmaster rank is not that big of a deal."
His voice had an irrefutable authority with no room for refusal.
The old Grandmaster became extremely bitter in his heart when he saw that Lazek had stepped into the rank of a Grandmaster at such a young age.
So, he directed his raging emotions towards the cursed disciple of Lazek. He was hell-bent on humiliating the kid, and by extension, he would humiliate Lazek Oberon for taking in a disciple who was not only cursed by the Church but also a tamer.
The old man began to throw more and more advanced questions at Kale that should not have been asked, questions beyond their understanding, as they were only newly awakened and had not even become Apprentice-rank Artificers.
But Kale remained unfazed by the questions, no matter how difficult they got. Eventually, the old Grandmaster began to ask for specific answers to difficult topics that even the man himself might not remember the answer to.
But every single query was graciously answered by Kale to the tee; this shocked all the Grandmasters to the core. Even Oram and Kraul were similarly shocked; only Lazek Oberon, Kale’s master, remained unperturbed with a subtle but prideful smile.
There was a hint of arrogance in his eyes, born of knowing full well how superior his and his disciples’ path was to everyone else’s.
Their path was to be the Greatest.
The old Grandmaster was forced to stop, as Kale’s capacity to answer increasingly difficult questions only made him look pathetic; as a result, the value of Lazek’s disciple continued to increase.
The shocking part was Kale’s deep knowledge about not only the profession of Fleshcraft but also the other two professions.
The old man shouted in perverse anger, "SO, WHAT IF YOUR KNOWLEDGE CAPACITY IS IMMENSE? WHAT MATTERS IS USING THAT KNOWLEDGE IN VARIOUS EXPERIMENTS. I REFUSE TO BELIEVE A TAMER CAN DO THAT...."
Oram and Kraul from the sides, both shook their heads in pity. The old Grandmaster with that one sentence had dug his very own grave.
Lazek, with a swift movement of his hand, brought out a table filled with all the necessary items for a moderately difficult experiment of the Fleshcraft profession.
Without clarifying anything, he spoke to Kale, "You have 25 minutes to perform this and prove yourself in front of everyone properly...."
The old Grandmaster was stunned, and everyone else was also stunned.
The old man had a bad feeling in his heart. Lazek bringing out everything like this and telling his disciple to experiment so suddenly like that could only mean one thing. It meant that he was extremely confident in Kale.
Kale sighed and leisurely walked to the front. Wordlessly, as always, he started experimenting, as usual, like he does every morning. But he performed at a much slower pace than usual.
After all, if he showed too much, it would be a problem in itself, just like how his master, Lazek, remained unaware that Kale had finished devouring the knowledge of an entire section of the third library.
After 22 minutes....
All the Grandmasters were so shocked that they could not even string together the words necessary to generate an audible response.
Their disciples, who had mocked and belittled Kale, had long been drowning in despair, becoming a background note in the event, as if their existence itself had been forgotten amid the glorious display of expertise performed by the cursed tamer named Kale, who outshone them all.
Grandmaster Kraul could only shake his head and sighed internally, ’If only these people knew of Kale’s true expertise in all three professions, they would lose their minds.’
Oram stated, as the room had gone deathly quiet, "Alright then, I think there’s no need for today’s gathering to continue. Let’s be on our way..."
Everyone nodded grimly; the gaze of the Grandmasters looking at Kale had changed drastically. There was also deep jealousy hidden in many of their hearts. For Lazek Oberon himself was one of the best Artificers there was, and now even his disciple was also a genius of great caliber.
Kale’s name would no longer be unknown in the grounds of the Association; he would become extremely famous.
As everyone was leaving, Lazek’s cold voice echoed in the chamber, "Grandmaster Ginrow, please stay...."
Lazek may have phrased those words in a form of request, but the newly ascended Fleshcraft Grandmaster’s voice left no room for refusal.
As Kale walked out last, Lazek patted his shoulder with a prideful smile, "You did well, my disciple..."
As there were only the Old Grandmaster Ginrow and Lazek left, the latter’s expression changed as he grinned, "I must truly thank you, Grandmaster Ginrow, if not for you, my disciple would not have been able to show off in such an audacious manner. Truly, you have helped my disciple and me a lot."
The old Grandmaster became more wary in his heart; he cursed, ’Damn it, damn it, damn it, I should not have continued to insult this madman’s disciple...’
’All the disciples of the Association leader have a screw loose on their brains one way or another, damn it....’ said Ginrow with a cold face.
Though he was apprehensive about the situation, if the boy dared to try anything funny, he didn’t mind teaching the Fleshcrafter a proper lesson; his main anxiety stemmed from Lazek’s status as a disciple of the Association leader.
And the next moment, Lazek’s expression turned dark as he said in an arrogant tone, "You worthless piece of trash who barely advanced to become a Grandmaster through overuse of Pillcores, how dare you try to humiliate my disciple?"
A powerful pressure forced itself upon Ginrow from all directions; the pressure compressing him was so great that the Old Grandmaster was taken aback.
