Ultimate Tamer Class: Genetic Engineer
Chapter 39: Master’s Entrance
The Toolcraft Grandmaster Kraul merely snorted and entered the bustling chamber. His disciple was walking right behind him. The man swept his cold gaze over all the gathered disciples. His eyes showed surprise as his gaze landed on Kale.
The man smiled, "Kale, so you’re here too...huh."
Kale stood up and said in a polite tone, "Master told me to come..."
Kraul indicated to his disciple, "Go on and sit beside him..."
Yet, the moment Kale saw the boy, who was the disciple of Kraul, his eyes went wide, and a violent storm raged in his mind. As someone who had an extremely powerful memory, he remembered it clearly.
It was one of the boys in his group. When he had awakened, his name was Torin.
Of course, Torin naturally did not recognize Kale; after all, he had regressed and did not have to go into the Church grounds to awaken again.
Torin introduced himself, "Hello, I am Torin."
Though his gaze also went to Kale’s forehead, and there was a look of confusion in his eyes, he went and sat beside Kale, considering Grandmaster Kraul’s amiable tone. Torin did not dare show any hint of disrespect towards Kale.
Kale nodded towards him, then, right after, Grandmaster Oram also entered with his own disciple.
Oram also spotted Kale and smiled, "My boy Kale, you’re here too...."
Kale nodded with a subtle smile. He saw the disciple of Grandmaster Oram, who had freckles on her cheeks; she was pretty but not too much. But she had a friendly smile that made her approachable.
Grandmaster Oram also said to her to go and sit beside Kale.
But this strange situation left all the Grandmasters and their disciples present extremely confused, especially the old Grandmaster who had taunted Kale.
He did not understand why these two prominent Grandmasters of Pillcraft and Toolcraft professions were treating the cursed Tamer in such a friendly manner.
Even amid the Grandmaster rank Artificers, there were vast differences among them. Some were far better at their craft than the others; for example, the old Grandmaster himself was a Pillcrafter, but he could not compare with Grandmaster Oram.
A strange thought flashed past his mind as the old Grandmaster started to speak, "Well, previously, some questions regarding both Toolcraft and Pillcraft have been asked, so this time let me do a few Fleshcraft queries."
"There is a particular type of Core that is extremely harmful to the Solvane cauldron. What is it?" asked the man.
One third of the disciples raised their hands, and Kale naturally was not amongst them.
The old man’s gaze landed on Kale as he stated coldly, "Kid, you there, stand up...."
"Till now, no matter how simple or advanced the questions that have been asked, not a single time have you raised your hands. What’s the matter with you?" asked the Grandmaster in an animated gesture—mocking him with every word spoken.
The moment these words were directed towards Kale, both Oram and Kraul frowned visibly. Kraul gave the old Pillcrafter a mocking look.
Meanwhile, a strange smile formed on Oram’s lips, but he did nothing and remained silent when he saw everyone looking down on Kale, whether the Grandmasters or their disciples.
Kale stood up from his seat and said coldly, "With all due respect, Grandmaster, I don’t know how to answer, but these questions are just too easy for my liking. Like, is this a children’s quiz?"
Kale sighed, "Even then, most of the answers given to those very basic questions were not entirely correct."
A deafening silence took over the place. The old Grandmaster’s face turned red with anger, but there were smiles on the faces of Kraul and Oram. But the rest of the Grandmasters all frowned, hearing such an arrogant answer.
The old man almost had the urge to kill Kale right then and there, but he barely controlled his anger and said with a threatening smile, "Hoho, then, Mister Cursed Tamer, please grace us with the correct answers for all the previous questions..."
Kale answered in a frosted tone, "The melting point of Pillcores differs by a few degrees compared to the general standard."
"For example, Poison-based Pillcores start deteriorating from 97 degrees Celsius."
"At 149 degrees Celsius of steady heat for one minute can destroy the poison inside, as the Beast Will dissipates."
"And only at 255 degrees does the material itself start to melt..."
Kale paused for a moment and added, "As for medicinal Pillcores used for wound recovery, the corresponding temperatures are respectively, 102, 151, and 251...."
"As for power boost type Pillcores, it is respectively, 104, 153, and 250..."
Everyone was stunned when they heard those words, but the shock did not stop. Kale answered the freezing-point temperatures for three types of Pillcores under three conditions.
The old Grandmaster, who had wanted to mock him, was flabbergasted.
Kale further answered the questions posed by the various grandmasters with impeccable accuracy. In fact, his explanations were so accurate that not many of the Grandmasters may remember those subtle details and conditions.
Until he eventually arrived at the last question that had been directed at him by the Old Grandmaster, "And the type of Beast Core that is most Harmful to Solvane Cauldron’s is it of the Mud water type Beasts. But even deepwater-type Beast’s cores can harm Solvane cauldrons to an extent...."
A deathly silence took over the room. Everyone looked at him in shock.
At this moment, the door to the room was gently pushed open by a pair of hands. An overpowering presence spread through the room, a power far stronger than any of the Grandmasters’; everyone’s attention swiftly turned towards its source.
And it was none other than Lazek Oberon himself; his expression was cold and aloof. Only when his eyes landed on Kale did he show a subtle smile.
Kraul said in disbelief, "You? You advanced?"
Oram was also flabbergasted, "Lazek, how did you advance so quickly? I thought you said you encountered a block on your path?"
Everyone began to congratulate Lazek Oberon all of a sudden, who received the greetings with an expressionless face. He had finally advanced to become a Grandmaster.
