The stones were a little different from how they had been shown in the game, but that was within my expectations.

There would always be differences between the game and this world.

"Will it be enough?"

Arthur stood before me, his eyes fixed on the mana stone in my hand.

"It will be enough to solve all of our problems."

I assured him.

Right now, Arthur felt the most vulnerable, or maybe he would become even more so after meeting his daughter.

I had held back curing the little girl for a long time, so delaying the task at hand any further would be inappropriate of me.

"Let’s go."

I motioned for Arthur to move, as I bent down to pick up another mana stone in my hand.

Just as I began to walk, Arthur walked alongside me, with Julien on the other side.

"I have asked them to store the mana stones in a safe location for now."

I simply nodded my head at Julien’s words.

Right now, there was no need to launch the cures for mana poisoning and damaged mana cores to the public, as I still didn’t think that the strength of D.X. was strong enough to protect its interests against the major powers that would try to steal the cure from us.

With time, the cure could be made available only to the absolute elites or Syma’s public allies, so as to bolster the existing alliances while at the same time solidifying Syma’s image as the best in the field.

In a matter of minutes, we had walked to the surface, coming out from a tavern.

The underground base had many entrances to it, the tavern being one of them.

Making our way out of the building, Arthur quickly took the lead, guiding us to his house.

Though I had visited Arthur’s house, it was only a few times, as most of the time I would always be busy making one plan or another... Or in many cases, I was just busy fighting monsters and improving my cultivation—Along with suffering through Arthur’s training regime.

As I had indeed visited his house, meeting his daughter was a given.

The first time I met her was when I had just secured Arthur on my side, and all the other operations of D.X. had begun to stabilise.

Maybe it was right after using the numerous monsters to supply mana essence to the egg that Alfred had discovered.

Arthur had invited me for dinner, and that was the first time that I had seen his daughter.

At that time, she should have been around fifteen years old—An entire year younger than me, as I was still sixteen at that time.

Now... The girl should have already celebrated her seventeenth birthday.

After walking for an entirety of five minutes, we had finally arrived at Arthur’s house.

During the walk, neither of us spoke, as Arthur was nervous from the possibility of his daughter being cured today.

Arthur had struggled his entire life to find a cure for his daughter, but all his efforts were met with a dead end.

Though the cure for mana poisoning was discovered later in the game... Sophie had already passed away.

As for Julien... The guy had surely learned to read the atmosphere, as he didn’t try to initiate any sort of conversation using his antics.

As we stood before Arthur’s house—The man in question quickly walked towards the door.

I just observed his house in silence.

Arthur, despite being a Peak Immortal, had always chosen to live in this house, because it had the remnants of his wife, whom Arthur loved dearly.

The house wasn’t like some grand mansion, but a simple two-storey building, with a nice warm look to it.

After fiddling with the door for some unknown reason, Arthur slowly opened it, before motioning us to move in.

Glancing at Julien once, I walked through the door, only to be greeted by warm light within.

"Sophie, are you awake? Sophie—"

"My lord?"

A maid interrupted Arthur’s shouts as she walked in our direction from the kitchen.

"Is Sophie awake?"

Arthur asked as he once again moved his gaze upstairs in the direction of Sophie’s room.

"Young miss just had her tea, so she must have been awake."

The maid replied while slightly bowing her head in Arthur’s direction and then... mine.

"That’s great. Can we begin the process right now, or should we wait?"

Arthur asked, turning to look into my eyes with the same excitement as before, or maybe even more.

"Let’s get it over with. The process isn’t that complex."

The moment I ended my sentence, Arthur nodded his head, before walking towards the stairs.

I followed from behind, as Julien too walked by my side.

Curing mana poisoning was surprisingly easy for a disease that was considered impossible to heal.

The only requirement was having a mana stone with you, and... the individual would recover within minutes.

The reason behind that was simple.

Mana poisoning was a disease in which an individual’s core was saturated with foreign mana from the atmosphere, with no way of filtering it out of the body.

The process of absorbing the surrounding mana into your body involved converting it into mana that was similar to your own mana signature. Though it might seem hard in theory, it was surprisingly simple for cultivators, as it was more of a subconscious action for them when they cultivated after combat to increase their power or to fill up their mana reserves.

That leads to the mana in the atmosphere tainting one’s core, which results in the person’s health deteriorating as they grow in age.

Most individuals who indeed suffered from mana poisoning had passed away at an early age, roughly between twenty to twenty-five years of age.

That was why Arthur’s anxiety was justified, as Sophie had now turned seventeen—Meaning the time left for her to live was nearing its end.
