Mia followed him and got up, taking a few steps before realizing the chancellor was gone, surprised, she asked, "Where’s the chancellor?"

"Little Darcy took him out for a walk."

"Oh."

As long as someone was taking care of it, Mia nodded and followed Koa Jackson back to the room.

Went to bed to rest.

But—

In broad daylight, she couldn’t fall asleep at all.

The two of them stared at each other with big eyes for a while, then at Koa Jackson’s instruction, Mia went to the study to find two books.

She gave him a medical dictionary and took an art album for herself to ponder over.

And so the morning passed.

After having lunch again, Koa Jackson’s body temperature had returned to normal.

Outside the window, the rain had stopped, the wind had calmed, and the sky brightened up.

Koa Jackson glanced at the time on his wrist and suddenly said to Mia, "Is your dad coming back to Peace Province today?"

"..." Mia was startled, "Yeah, I would’ve forgotten if you hadn’t mentioned it."

Koa Jackson closed the book.

Mia also closed her book, took out her phone, found the number, and called Aurora Cooper.

Aiden hadn’t left yet; he was about to call her too.

Hearing Aurora Cooper’s complaints on the other end, Mia quickly responded with a smile, "I told Margot when I left, telling anyone is the same. Got it, got it, we’ll come back now and go to the airport with you to see my dad off."

Aurora Cooper grumbled, "That’s more like it."

Mia chuckled, hung up the phone, and sighed in relief.

Meeting Koa Jackson’s scrutinizing gaze.

"What?" she asked.

Koa Jackson’s eyes flickered slightly, "Nothing."

Mia put away her phone and drove with him to Cooper Manor, suddenly remembering she had said last night that she had argued with Aurora Cooper.

But—

Judging by the phone call earlier, everything seemed normal.

Mia laughed awkwardly and softly admitted, "Actually, I didn’t argue with my mom last night."

"Hmm." Koa Jackson responded softly, of course, he could figure out why she lied.

Mia felt uncomfortable, and as soon as they got out of the car, she tightly held Koa Jackson’s hand, rubbing her cheek against his arm twice, whispering, "Brother Jackson, will you tell me whenever you’re not in a good mood from now on? Even though I can’t help you much, at least I can be with you."

Koa Jackson looked down at her, but said nothing.

Mia tugged at his arm, stopped in place, reached out to hug his waist, and stubbornly said, "Okay?"

Koa Jackson reached out to rub her hair.

Mia looked up at him with a face full of anticipation.

Koa Jackson smiled faintly, nodded, and said in a low, gentle voice, "Got it."

"Do you promise?" Mia hummed in a small voice.

"Yeah." Koa Jackson leaned in closer to her ear and whispered, "My Little One has grown up."

"I wasn’t that small to begin with." Mia pouted, but inside she felt happy. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Koa Jackson also felt the same way; it seemed like just this morning he suddenly realized that the little girl had grown up, peeking out from under his wings, able to take care of him actively and comfort him as a wife, bringing him joy and keeping him company.

This feeling was so good, making him realize that he was not alone after all.

With this girl, it’s a pair.

A lifetime, a pair.

Koa Jackson withdrew his arm and instead wrapped it around her shoulders as they entered the hall.

Old Master Cooper and the old lady had already returned yesterday, now, Aiden’s things were all packed, just waiting for Mia to come back so they could head to the airport together.

Looking up to see the two of them coming in together, Aiden and Aurora exchanged a glance, both feeling a bit complicated.
