the great corruption system
Chapter 82: Hospitality
Everywhere they looked The commoner families were staying in the sidewalk and staying as far away from the supposed town guard that keeps things safe.
"Care to take any bets on why they’re acting like this?" Donnie lightly asked the group.
"Ignore him he doesn’t have gambling money." Andrew spoke older his shoulder.
Just then Donny turned to him.
"Just cause you’re rich doesn’t mean I’m the poorest. It’s not nice flaunting your wealth like this."
Andrew tilted his head a bit. It seems Donnie was still pretending to be angry about him pretending he had no money this whole time.
Damian looked at him like a proud older brother despite being the most immature out of the entire group. "Yeah, don’t project your hatred for the poor."
Andrew shook his head. They were being way too loud.
Nearby, two newly stationed guards were Leaning on a nearby wall that connected to a clothing shop. "Man, this is the easiest job ever, but it’s getting damn boring."
The guy next to him shook his head. "Nah man, you just gotta, expand your horizons a bit." He said waving his hand slowly in front of himself.
"Like what? Please enlighten me because I’m two seconds from stabbing something. Or someone."
Since the recent takeover of the town, Not many came out of their homes unless they needed to. But luckily, the man hit up and managed to spot what seemed to be a man passing through, seemingly trying to get into the store they were leaning on.
"Watch this." He says to him. "You there! Stop this instant!" He says, getting off of the wall and pointing to the man.
The moment he heard the guard screaming the man froze up. Once he got closer he took a few steps back before stopping.
"Hey. You know me and my buddy here have fallen on hard times. Some of our friends got taken out during that scuffle last night and we need to stay out her longer than normal.
Could you do us a favor? Two silvers, one for each of us."
With the other guard still on the wall looking over in shock, the man continued. "I, I don’t have that much. I just wanted a change of clothes." He began shaking.
The guard sighed before pulling out a blade, drawing the attention of everyone on the road and Scaring the man even more.
"Fine. We’ll just take what you have if you’ll be so kind." He pressed the sword closer until it was almost touching the man’s stomach.
Seeing as how he wasn’t moving fast enough, he complained once more. "What’s keeping you from doing what I asked? Do you like your life?"
Then he noticed a funny smell in the air before looking at the man with disgust. "You didn’t."
The man crumbled to the ground in shame and fear, while the guard on the wall burned out in sheer laughter. "Oh shut up you."
And to his surprise the man actually did.
Now that was hard to believe.
As the man turned around, not only did he find his friend knocked out and slumped against the wall, but an angry tall man Grabbed him
By his helmet.
"What–"
*WHACK*
With one punch, his blade had dropped from his hands, clattering onto the floor. Screaming could be heard in the background as what little civilians were present began leaving.
The man’s arms grabbed at Damian pathetically. throwing punches that didn’t affect him. "Y–you!"
Donnie retaliated in full and more. Two more punches and his hands dropped completely,
But Donnie had to be safe and add a few more for good measure.
At this point, hearing the sound of a man getting his face bashed in had caused the already low amount of people walking outside to dwindle to zero in their area.
In their stead, five guards had appeared swords drawn. "Put him down you bastards."
One of them said, already prepared to attack.
By the seventh punch, he was knocked out.
Damian still held the bleeding man by the hair.
"I think I might have an idea." He said, referring to Donny’s proposal earlier.
Everyone else surrounded him, more than confident in plowing through these people with ease.
"This guy was threatening civilians. You got a way to Deescalate this?" Chase looked back towards Damian.
Almost immediately, Donny noticed a tavern and motioned to it. Without thinking, Damian grabbed the man and through him inside before walking in himself.
Inside of it, a bunch of rugged men were Eating a bunch of the meals. The bartender was pouring a rather big man another pint of ale, seemingly scared for his life.
"That’s it, keep it coming."
The man said as ale fizzed in his cup .
The bartender, a rather short fat man with graying hair and glasses nervously began speaking.
"Sir, while I know you men do like your drinks, we haven’t been payed by any of you and we’re running out of product due to lack of trade."
The bigger man with a bald head shook said bald hair. "The gates just opened back up earlier today. Besides I told you to just put it up for later. You know we’re good for it."
He rested his head on the counter.
The bartender looked around. He saw thugs dressed in wolf pelts over leather armor, some were just shirtless as they fought, broke glass objects and vomited on his floor.
Some were even asleep as he spoke. A less then gracious tone left his lips as his patience grew thin. "Surely."
one man from the back of the bar noticed this and snapped at him in response. "Hey!"
He drunkenly flopped over th table before picking his blade back up and walked towards him.
"You think my boss isn’t gonna do what he promises? You think just cause your old we won’t kill you old man? Has nobody told you about us!?"
He held a blade over the counter, pointing it in the bartenders general direction.
The man’s heart was racing as he thought about his response, but the sound of a viscous beating sounded outside before a man was violently thrown in. His face wouldn’t look the same again.
Just then a man on the bigger side walked in right after. Strong jawline and a confident smile on his face. With his hands raised he walked in. "Now guys I know this looks bad, but you guys gotta let me tell you what he did first! You’re buddies outside just won’t listen!"
"What?"
