Chapter 135: Breaking Up or Breaking Down.

"Out of my office!"

A startled Raymond looked up when he heard Ethan’s firm command.

"What? Do you need me to get—"

Ethan cut him off, shaking his head in sympathy for Raymond.

"What can you get for me in this state? You look like someone who isn’t even sure of how he’s going to survive the next day. A hopeless person," Ethan taunted, not bothering to hold himself back.

He continued,"Did that woman not advise you at all yesterday? And you also followed her yesterday so why are you still grumpy?"

Raymond sighed heavily.

"I did, but she was meeting her brothers for lunch so she picked them up before I could meet her. Her brothers are terrifying so..." he trailed off, leaving Ethan to guess the remainder of his sentence.

"You are a coward, Ray. You should have approached them and act like a man," Ethan reprimanded.

"Act like a man and fight them?"

"Note that I said act. You would have approached them while acting like a man, and when you get there, let them do their worst. You make me feel like all the training sessions I had with you was useless."

The emotionally exhausted Raymond had nothing to say but, "I’m sorry."

"Alright, just get out and go find her or something. I won’t be needing you for today," Ethan said, waving him off.

Raymond gave an excited bow and hurried out the room, stopping dead in his tracks as soon as he was in the secretaries office. Why did he feel like the usually peaceful atmosphere in this place was missing now?

He looked around the room to see his sister standing beside one of the secretaries while Enoch was shooting her an icy glare, and the other secretaries looked on.

He shrugged, thinking that none of it concerned him and proceeded to pass the room to get into the presidential elevator.

As soon as the elevator doors closed, Enoch stood from his seat and approached Ruthlyn.

"Miss Stone, I don’t think this is the time to make leisure visits to the cafe. The fact that we are less busy does not give us the right to—"

"You knew that, Mr DeLoach? I thought you didn’t since you and Toni have been enjoying your time together whenever you guys are less busy. Plus Mr Stone just left the office now and I am sure he’s not on official assignment." Ruthlyn scoffed, not fazed one bit by Ethan’s unsmiling face. She turned to Toni and smiled,"Aren’t you getting anything, Toni?"

"Iced Americano please!" Toni exclaimed, shocked just like the others at the current scene in their office. She didn’t want to be caught in the brawl between their CEO’s trusted assistant and his younger brother, as they didn’t even know who Ethan would support if it got worse.

"Alright," Ruthlyn answered. "Shall we, Ryu?"

Casting one last glance at Enoch, she walked away from him.

Several minutes passed by and Raymond arrived at Cyprian’s apartment. He parked the car appropriately and alighted from it, walking towards the stairs to take them to the fifth floor.

He had overheard her telling her brothers of her two weeks leave the previous day, so he didn’t bother to go check her in Preston TV first.

He has just climbed five steps of the stairway when he heard loud exchange of pleasantries from the lobby.

"Angel! How have you been doing?"

The voice sounded familiar, and Raymond recognized it immediately. He retraced his steps down the stairs and ran back to the lobby.

"Been doing well, Cyprian. Well...apart from the fact that I broke up with Aaron. How about you?"

"Well too, but I think I’ll join your ship since. I think I will be breaking up—"

Raymond grabbed her hand from behind, drawing her into a tight embrace.

"I think the right word should be breaking down the chains of misunderstanding with my boyfriend," he whispered into her ears, before looking up at the girl she had been talking to. Probably an apartment mate.

"Wish us well, Angela," he gave the girl his brightest of smile, for he would not have known Cyprian was in the lobby if not for her. It seemed like she had taken the elevator.

"Of course, I wish you guys well. Bye Cyprian, see you later!" The girl named Angela walked away from there.

Cyprian wiggled out of Raymond’s embrace, as much as she did not want to. She had missed his broad chest so much but still, she had to maintain her firm resolve.

"What are you doing here, Raymond?" She asked, staring up at him.

"I came here to see you, Rian. We need to talk."

"About what? As far as I know, we have no misunderstandings between us so there is nothing for us to talk about..."

"No, Cyprian. We have so many misunderstandings between us so there are countless things we have to talk about. Let’s go up to your apartment first, and then you can vent all you want," he proposed, trying to pull her along to the elevator.

Cyprian refused to move.

"If I have to talk to you, then I will do that later. I have an appointment with Shikera and I don’t want to be late," she informed, expecting Raymond to let her go but he didn’t.

"Miss Anderson isn’t home presently and I will just be taking a few moments of your time so please Rian, let’s just have this discussion once and for all."

Cyprian drew her lower lip into her mouth, nibbling on it as she pretended to be pondering on Raymond’s words.

"I will give you just an hour," she said. Taking out her phone, she texted Shikera.

[I will be two hours late, Kera. But I think I will stay longer than expected.]

As she clicked on the send button, the phone slipped out of her hand, falling on the floor with a loud sound.

Raymond bent to pick it up for her but when he handed it to her, a frown was on her face.

"What’s wrong, Rian?" he asked.

"Something is wrong somewhere, Ray. Can you try calling Shikera with your phone?" she asked.
