Chapter 842: Assemble at the gate

Red Moon Chamber

Jeremy Night had only gotten a few hours of sleep. He immediately woke up because of the alarm. He was in a daze for a few seconds; then, he collected his thoughts.

"Alarm," he uttered.

This time he was hearing it clearly. It was the sign of a beast invasion, and the whole city was under alert. He got out of bed and quickly began to get ready.

A few minutes later, he left the room wearing a combat suit. Everything was prepared inside his storage ring. He was ready this time.

But when he got down to the lobby, he saw it was crowded with members. Everyone was chatting, but none of them were going outside.

Then he noticed some elders giving out instructions. He quickly went down there and joined the crowd. He began to hear what was going on.

"The Corrupted Beasts have started attacking. But this time, the heads of the various forces, including our head, went outside to face them."

"They didn’t want casualties to occur this time. Lords from the Human Alliance will soon come. They hope that we don’t have to fight this time. All the elders will take care of the problem," one of the elders said.

Gasp!

A huge exclamation occurred.

"How is this normal? The fight is for everyone!"

"It’s our fight. We should join them as well."

"We want to go to the wilderness!"

The people started voicing their opinions. They were not convinced; they wanted to join the fight as well.

Jeremy Night heard it as well. He was shocked internally. He didn’t imagine the Governors would do this, but he knew the reason why.

Governor Leon had died at the hands of the beasts. Jeremy shook his head, then waited for the elders to leave.

Just as he expected, they left after giving instructions. The Beast Tamers then exited the building one after another.

The elders couldn’t do anything about it, but they knew the tamers could not do anything without a Governor’s order.

Even if they went to the city gate, they wouldn’t be allowed to leave. Jeremy followed the group and walked out of the building.

He came to the main street and approached a cab driver. He wanted to go to the city gate like the others, but the cabs were filling up.

In fact, the drivers were not asking for a price. In this time of crisis, they were providing free service. Hearing that from one of the drivers, he was happy.

Jeremy sat inside the car. It didn’t take long for the driver to start heading toward the city gate.

A few minutes later, a large number of cars reached the gate. A massive crowd had gathered in front of it. Everyone shared the same emotion: they wanted to fight against the Corrupted Beasts.

They didn’t know why the Governors had changed the rules this time. Usually, they were the ones who fought against the lower-tier beasts, followed by the higher-tier Beast Tamers against the Corrupted Beasts.

Jeremy Night exited the car and thanked the driver. But the driver was scared. He saw the scene in front of them; no one was making it clear why the gate was blocked. Jeremy knew the reason, but he could not tell.

Jeremy advised the driver to leave and help the people in the high-rise buildings. The driver collected his thoughts and left the place.

Jeremy then turned toward the chaos of the crowd. No one was doing crowd management. If this continued, the people might break the gate to enter the wilderness.

Jeremy was surprised. The city was facing a second attack in a short time. The casualty count had been high last time, so emotions were running high. No one wanted the same situation to occur.

He raised his head and saw the Governors standing in mid-air. Others could not see them, but he had "zoom-in" vision. When he looked, he saw Governors Martin and Orion chatting. They were likely talking about the fight.

Suddenly, both of them turned toward him. Their gazes came into contact with him. They were stunned.

Jeremy withdrew his gaze and started acting normal.

On the other hand, both Governors were shocked.

"Who is this young man?" Orion asked.

Martin recalled the face. He had heard the name before. He smiled and said, "This kid is from the Red Moon Chamber. He is a gem found by Head Harold."

"Hmmm. This young man has some eyesight," Orion replied. Then they continued their conversation.

Time passed.

More and more people gathered at the gate. The streets were filled. There was no place for cars or other vehicles to park on the ground; every space was occupied. It was quite a sight to see.

Jeremy Night was experiencing this for the first time. He was used to fighting against the Corrupted Beasts by now, having already participated in more than one battlefield, but here the people had gathered without any announcement.

"Jeremy Night," someone suddenly called out.

Hearing that, he was stunned. He was a mostly unknown person, yet someone had uttered his name. He was curious and turned around to see a young woman.

Jeremy was stunned. The young woman was none other than Catherine Rosewood.

"Hi," Jeremy greeted her.

"It’s been some time, but I’m happy to see you here," Catherine said with a smile, though she seemed to totally forget the situation.

Jeremy didn’t know what to say. He hadn’t expected to see her. He asked her how she ended up there. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"I came here on my own," Catherine replied.

Jeremy found it hard to believe, but the situation was tense; anything was possible now.

"Why don’t we fight together?" Catherine asked.

Hearing that, he immediately thought of her friends. She had numerous supporters, and if they saw him with her, it would cause problems.

Right now, he wants to focus on growing stronger. He sighed. In order to end the conversation, he nodded to her.

Catherine was surprised. The next second, she started talking more. Jeremy was stuck.
