Chapter 31: Space Surprise

To be able to monitor their growth (or death), she placed a wooden plank and buried them in the soil, making them stably stand next to the plant.

She marked the soil line, as well as the current points of reference, like the highest point of the plant. This way, she would be able to see if the plant was making progress, even if it did take time.

Even if it weren’t certain yet, just the possibility of alternate food other than those tasteless sets made her feel giddy. She would definitely be able to sleep soundly tonight!

Since she was already in the zone, she decided to buy a few more things. She could only go to one of the few supermarkets in the town for ease of purchase.

These were all just for her, and maybe a few friends she sees along the way.

As much as she wanted to help the world, her current abilities limited that. She just told herself that if she stayed alive and lived for a long time, that was already a service to humanity.

She did wonder if her email to the government actually reached the proper channels. She also wondered how many people the ads reached.

...having no idea that, at this time, every ad she made had all been taken down for spreading ’misinformation’ and ’causing panic’.

If Naia knew, she would probably flip several tables.

Anyway, Naia—blissfully unaware that millions of marketing costs had just gone down the drain—continued her shopping spree in the town’s supermarket.

She bought toiletries like toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, shower gel, body oil, lotion, and so on, good enough for herself to last years. This included dozens of boxes of feminine products like napkins, tampons, and so on.

Back in the apocalypse, they already formulated some alternatives to hygiene products, and most humans in her generation were already infertile, so a lot of these things could become superfluous.

It was just that...she couldn’t go without them anymore.

She knew it had been less than four days since she arrived in this place, but...who could blame her?!

She also bought a few food boxes available for bulk buys like snacks, chocolates, candies, and dried fruits (especially dried mango and raisins, which she had grown fond of over the past day or two).

She limited the amount of chips and crisps she bought to a maximum of 1 cubic meter. It was not because they were unhealthy, but the airiness took a lot of space. She’d just add more of those if there were still excess space to fill.

She bought other things for convenience such as plates, bowls, tissues, and so on. She also got disposable plates, cups, spoons, and forks to save up on water as well.

She saw that there was a small electronics aisle, too, which reminded her to buy a few things—a lot of which were not available in that supermarket.

For example, she needed to buy electronics like solar panels, solar chargers, and so on. She definitely had to buy laptops, pads, and external hard drives to download all the movies and series she liked or would like to check out.

She had watched a few things on the Inn’s TV, and some of them were so dramatic and stupid, but she couldn’t stop watching them! It was mystifying!

When she took a peek at Doogle, she realized that the titles were endless, so she naturally had to preserve these so she could watch when the apocalypse started.

Back in the olden days, outside of training, people could only gossip, with some people even frolicking around. This caused a lot of conflicts, even after she and Kael had taken over the base. The movies preserved back then were only a handful, and those could get boring after a few times.

Speaking of entertainment, she also bought several varieties of board games, with maybe two or three copies each. She bought things like Monopoly, Catan, Exploding Kitten, Flip 7, Chess, Scrabble, Jengga, and so on.

With various choices for past times like these, wouldn’t people be better behaved? Heck, maybe she could even exchange resources as tickets for other people to watch these things or rent board games or something.

...

She spent the rest of the day buying things and organizing them in her space, including ordering different food from various restaurants.

Thank goodness she could move stuff with her mind, like she had telekinesis. Even if it was limited inside the parallel space, it was already very convenient. Besides, remembering what she did with the refrigerator and the old man’s head, she at least confirmed that she could use the space outside as well. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

She learned that she didn’t even have to touch the objects to place them in the space. However, it was very useful if she touched them, as it was far less straining to her mental energy.

To explain how the space worked, it was like there were two different folders: Reality and her parallel space.

Her ability allowed her to decide which piece of ’paper’ (i.e. items) to place inside which folder, and then switch them up as she needed.

It was quite cool, and she knew there was still much to learn about it.

Naia stretched her arms after a long hour of organizing the place before she mentally turned her attention to the few pots at the corner of the space.

She went there to see and talk to the plants (and provide moral support). After all, it had only been a day since she placed them here, so she wasn’t expecting visible growth.

But when she reached the pots, she paused, blinking, before hurriedly kneeling down to check the planks.

Her heart beat in excitement, and she quickly went out to start Doogling: [How many millimeters are these plants expected to grow in a day: Cherry tomato, basil, and Onion plant.]

According to Doogle, Cherry Tomato stem could grow 5-15mm/day, the basil stem can grow 4-10mm/day, while Onion leaf could grow 1-3mm/day.

She went back to her space and looked, reading the plank over and over in case she was hallucinating.

Gulp.

In one day, the plants grew three to four times faster!

And...she could vaguely feel it could go even faster!
