Planet Vs Aliens: Space User Saves the World
Chapter 30: Still Shopping
Naia paid for 30% downpayment so that she would still have a few million left behind from her current stash, not including the old man’s money.
After handing her vehicles, she then continued with her shopping spree.
One was buying some basic vehicles. Her modified stuff would take a month or so, she needed ways to go around.
To save money, she wanted to buy with terms (i.e. pay downpayment first, pay later), but those needed proper identification and contract signing, so she couldn’t. This was not like the customization job, which was fine even if she didn’t leave an ID, simply because the end products weren’t in her hands yet.
Buying the finished products and using them was different. Fortunately, a million could buy a few cheap or second-hand ones, just that she had to choose one or two for efficiency.
She bought one truck (the small, four-wheeler one), a motorcycle, and a bicycle. She could handle basic automotive mechanics, so she wouldn’t get scammed at all. The items she got were all quite good for their price, and she managed to shoot down the price because of some imperfections that she noticed.
For the truck and the motorcycle, she only had to spend 500,000 danas, saving about 200-300 thousand.
The owner was so impressed by her knowledge that he even tried to set her up with his son, his brother-in-law, and his nephew.
Anyway, these few vehicles should be sufficient for every task she needed to do moving forward. And a lot of tasks, she had, indeed.
Acero Town had a lot of villages surrounding it, many of which were farm areas. As such, there had been a few related industries relatively developed because of it. Further, there were also a number of wholesale stores, though the variety was naturally limited to what was produced in the area.
One of the first things she bought in the wholesale store?
The shelves, even used ones, were fine.
This confused a few people, but when they heard she was starting her own shop in the adjacent Town, they understood. Using the warehouse from before, she received several stacks of shelves.
These were the types of shelves found in big supermarkets and were about two storeys high, which was perfect for the current height of her space. She didn’t have to add corridor space, either, maximizing it completely.
As for the products in this area, about two-thirds of the villages around Acero specialized in producing two or three types of rice. She ordered a rice amounting to about a million danas.
She couldn’t buy so much before because of space limitations. She was planning on stockpiling more when she settled down, but now that was no longer a problem.
Assuming she could disregard the 30-40 year shelf life, the rice she bought from Acero’s wholesale store could last her a hundred years!
Of course, the space it took was also very beautiful—a full 30 cubic meters! This was a fifth of her entire space and even larger than her space before it ate the loan sharks’ money.
But, well, seeing that tall tower of shelves filled with rice sacks felt comforting in a way.
She also bought gallons more of drinking water. She also ordered a standard 25 cubic meter water tank to be filled with clean, not necessarily potable, water to cook rice with.
They would also be used for her bath water. She wasn’t particularly squeamish, but she felt super comfortable bathing every day that she hoped to still experience it at least every few days, even after the Fall.
Having a bigger space really makes all the difference.
For the other things, there were no wholesale stores, but there were still specialist and dedicated stores for them, so she could buy them at a lower cost since she was buying a lot.
She bought protein concentrates, canned fruits, and thousands of bottles of pickles. She bought different types, but she was particularly fond of radish and cucumber pickles, so 80% of them would be her bias. She spent a few hundred thousand for these.
She also bought bags of seeds. She bought the grains, nuts, beans, lentils, as well as a variety of fruits and vegetables available. Except for rice, the other seed selection was a bit limited, and she could tell there were better quality ones elsewhere.
She didn’t bother spending too much, just about a hundred thousand or so, filling up a cubic meter with seeds. She only chose the variety that was acceptable to her, buying a minimal amount for the rest. She had time to look elsewhere for better quality ones.
Amusingly, the shop owner for the seeds was so happy for the big orders that he handed her a few potted plants. One was a basil, another was an onion (for kitchen work!), while the other was a cherry tomato that was already in its flowering stage.
"These are all very useful to keep near the kitchen!" the amicable seed seller told her. "Who wants to buy from the market when you can just pick it up after a few steps, right?"
She just placed them in the shotgun seat and planned to put them up in her room when she got back to the inn. However, a few streets of driving later, Naia found herself driving to the side as she entered a daze.
Living creatures could not be placed in her space, but...did plants count as living creatures? Technically, they were, but she curiously activated her space anyway, just to see.
With a wave of her hands, the three potted plants disappeared from the seat, now inside the space, alive and well.
For now, anyway.
She didn’t let herself be too excited. After all, these things could still die after a while. She’d test it out first.
If it worked well, maybe with a few pots, she could have her own fresh newly-picked fruits and vegetables, even after the Fall!
She was liking this space more and more!
