Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1612 - 1609: Here on a Mission
"If it weren’t for needing the blood, I wouldn’t want to use Sword Control against you." Lin Tian used his previous words to answer Xu Feibai, which was akin to admitting that he had mastered Sword Control, but only he knew that what he understood was merely superficial, far from reaching the level of Tang Xuan Su.
With a gesture, Lin Tian called back the Crescent Blade from the wall silently. Seeing the blood on the blade, he smiled; though little, the blood was sufficient.
But soon, his smile vanished as the blood on the Crescent Blade evaporated instantly, turning into a blood mist that dissipated into the air. Not far away, Xu Feibai stretched out his palm, and a faint blood mist appeared in his hand, gradually thickening and contracting, ultimately converging into a drop of blood.
"As I said, my blood can’t be taken by anyone. You’re a zombie too; you should understand this principle." Xu Feibai clenched his fist, and the blood drop disappeared.
Lin Tian’s expression soured as he swung the Heavenly Tribulation Sword, saying, "So I just need to beat you until you surrender and willingly offer your blood."
After speaking, Lin Tian was about to make his move when suddenly there was a commotion outside the factory, followed by the sweeping beams of flashlights. A group of people holding flashlights walked into the factory; they all wore helmets and work uniforms, evidently workers stationed nearby.
"Why was there an explosion sound? Isn’t the demolition scheduled for next week?"
"Yeah, and even if it’s earlier, it wouldn’t be at night." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Also, we haven’t been notified for preparation work. What are those people upstairs doing?"
"It’s chaos. Let’s hope nothing goes wrong. Quickly, go check what’s happening."
After the flashlight beams swept around came the sounds of confusion and dissatisfaction; the newcomers mistook the explosion sound for demolition work.
Xu Feibai sheathed his blade again, hiding it behind his back, and smiled slightly, "Lin Tian, if we continue to fight, the aftermath would be enough to leave these people without burial grounds. You don’t want to harm these innocent people, right?"
Lin Tian frowned; despite his reluctance, indeed as Xu Feibai had said, he didn’t want to hurt ordinary people, as each person he’d killed had deserved it.
Seeing Lin Tian’s expression slightly loosened, though he hadn’t sheathed the Heavenly Tribulation Sword, Xu Feibai continued, "It’s not impossible to get my blood; it’s just that the time hasn’t come yet. Let’s part here; we’ll have the chance to meet next time."
Hearing him say to leave, Lin Tian pointed his sword at him, coldly saying, "How do I know if what you’re saying is true? If you run away and don’t return, where would I find you?"
Xu Feibai did nothing to defend, calmly responding, "As I said, I returned to Huaxia with a mission, and until it’s fulfilled, I won’t leave temporarily."
"What mission makes you willing to take the risk to return?" Lin Tian was quite curious about the mission Xu Feibai had mentioned multiple times.
"When the time comes, you will naturally know." Xu Feibai dodged the question again as before, unwilling to reveal more. After speaking, he tapped lightly with his foot, his entire body flying backward, then after several jumps, disappeared into the night.
Lin Tian did not stop him nor chase him; he could see that Xu Feibai wasn’t lying. If this was true, a meeting was inevitable; thinking of this, he felt relieved.
Although he couldn’t get the blood of the Jiang Chen Bloodline tonight, he gained some clues, which was an unexpected delight; otherwise, finding Xu Feibai in Japan would’ve been challenging.
Looking at the Heavenly Tribulation Sword in his hand, Lin Tian focused his mind, and it transformed again, returning to a metal bracelet.
Several flashlight beams suddenly pointed over, passing over Lin Tian, followed by urgent footsteps and shouts: "Who? Who’s over there?"
Clearly, this group saw a silhouette, swiftly running over, Lin Tian glanced towards the light source, calmly put on the bracelet, moved his figure, and disappeared from the spot.
Five or six workers with flashlights finally arrived at the scene of the battle, but it was already deserted.
"Strange, I clearly saw a silhouette, moving swiftly." A worker said in surprise.
Immediately they saw the chaotic scene: broken concrete grounds, fallen weeds, collapsed walls, and boiler foundations, taking in the sight, the workers felt secretly shocked.
"When was this demolished? Did we do the demolition?" Another worker asked curiously.
"No, guessed it’s that gang again, not the first time."
"Some old equipment hasn’t been moved, getting targeted by thieves every day; now even the walls are being dismantled. To steal big equipment, we need to hurry with demolition and avoid any incidents."
"You four, take turns patrolling tonight, if anything happens, don’t intervene recklessly, notify others..."
Lin Tian, by then, had already run several miles away, long past hearing the workers’ discussions. In his beggar outfit, he had to return to the apartment dormitory to change into clean clothes.
Checking the time, estimating that the welcoming party hadn’t finished, Lin Tian went out again, and upon reaching downstairs, casually threw the worn-out clothes into the trash bin.
Returning to the hall, indeed the party hadn’t ended, with fans still surrounding outside and music was heard from inside.
The hall doors were all closed, but Lin Tian still entered through a window; with his skills, this posed no difficulty.
On stage was a street dance performance, with vibrant youths swaying their bodies, either breakdancing, performing high difficulty moves, or paying tribute to Jackson with iconic moonwalk steps.
Street dance always stirred excitement, the atmosphere was lively, yet nobody noticed Lin Tian entering through the window. He walked nonchalantly towards the backstage dressing room along the corridor.
The girls turned their gaze upon him entering, Lin Tian nodded slightly and started looking for Xiao Manxuan’s figure, but found no sight of the little girl after searching the dressing room.
"The sound of the guqin draws the attention of some people; be cautious."
Xu Feibai’s words suddenly echoed in Lin Tian’s mind, startling him; could the little girl be in danger?
With this thought, he turned to run outside, immediately colliding with someone upon turning.
Yang Lin cried out in bad luck, bumping into someone upon entering the door. She held her forehead, wanting to see who was ignorant, but upon seeing Lin Tian, she hesitated before saying, "Junior, where have you been for so long? And why are you in such a hurry?"
Lin Tian didn’t have time to explain, hurriedly asked, "Have you seen Xiao Manxuan?"
Yang Lin was baffled by Lin Tian’s reaction but still replied, "I saw her a moment ago, seems like she was upstairs in the corridor."
"Thanks." Lin Tian said curtly before rushing out, heading upstairs via the stairs.
The second-floor hallway backstage was in the opposite direction of the hall, so upon entering the hallway, the outside music and dance sounds softened, becoming somewhat quiet.
A graceful shadow stood by the hallway, gazing at the night outside, her face breathtakingly beautiful, yet carrying a trace of sorrow.
