Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1593 - 1590: Suitors
If He Xiaofei, wearing a skirt, were to fall, it would be quite embarrassing. Lin Tian stood by her side and certainly wouldn’t allow such a thing to happen. He gently pushed her back to straighten her up.
The person walking with his head down also realized he had bumped into someone. He quickly looked up and said, "Sorry, classmate. Are you okay?"
The person who bumped into them was a man. His clothes were a bit old, and his hair looked like it hadn’t been tidied for days. He was a slovenly man, probably around fifty years old, likely a teacher at the academy.
"Teacher, I’m fine. If you have things to do, please go ahead," He Xiaofei waved him off.
The male teacher responded with a quiet "oh" and hurriedly walked away, unexpectedly heading into the national key laboratory across the way.
"Hmm, was that Professor Hu?" He Xiaofei said, puzzled.
"You know him?" Lin Tian frowned slightly; this class monitor knew quite a lot.
"I don’t really know him. It’s just that I often browse the Jinghua University community forum and know some things. Professor Hu teaches paleontology. However, this major only has a single successor for five generations, which has even made it into the news. There are many stories about him circulating on the community forum," He Xiaofei laughed.
"A single successor for five generations? That means there’s only been one student studying this major each year for five years," Lin Tian said with surprise.
"Haha, there are many legends about Professor Hu. For example, he allegedly proposed a concept of extracting dinosaur blood from mosquitoes preserved in amber, then retrieving the genes, and reviving dinosaurs through genetic technology. However, some people say DNA has a half-life and genes from millions of years ago have long decomposed," He Xiaofei shook her head with a smile.
The two of them continued chatting and arrived at the academy’s office building, where the class committee members who arrived earlier had already called a teacher to unlock the book storage room.
"Why aren’t you guys going inside to move things?" He Xiaofei noticed everyone crowding at the door and curiously asked. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"Our books are pinned down by a large bag of stuff and can’t be moved. The boys tried earlier," the teacher said with a frown, probably to blame those who had left things carelessly.
"Brother Lin, we tried earlier, but the space can barely fit two people standing there, and two people weren’t enough to move it," Qiao Xiaoyi explained.
Lin Tian observed the bag of items, estimating it weighed several hundred pounds. It was indeed difficult for two people, but of course, it was a piece of cake for him.
"I’ll lift it. Who will join me?" Mu Binglan stepped forward, her gaze sweeping across the few boys, leaving them a bit embarrassed.
"I’ll do it," Lin Tian said calmly, simply wanting not to waste too much time.
With a boy stepping up, the other boys felt slightly better, giving Lin Tian and Mu Binglan space.
Mu Binglan looked at Lin Tian, then went straight to the side of the sack, while Lin Tian shook his head slightly. This woman was completely disregarding the boys’ face; it was going to be tough for Qiao Xiaoyi to catch up with her.
Lin Tian walked up too, grabbing the corner of the sack with both hands. Initially, he intended to use one hand, but to avoid unsettling the classmates, he decided to pretend.
"Listen to my countdown, three, two, one, lift!" Mu Binglan bent slightly at the waist and knees, exerting force with her arms.
The heavy sack was lifted by them together, though Mu Binglan’s face turned a bit red, clearly finding it exerting, but Lin Tian remained unchanged in expression, calm and composed. Together, they moved the whole bag to an empty area, revealing the books beneath.
The boys and the class committee members began moving the books, as Mu Binglan passed by Lin Tian without looking at him, leaving just a comment, "Good physical fitness." Lin Tian just smiled without speaking.
All the boys, along with the class committee, expended considerable effort to finally move the new books to the classroom. After that came the distribution of new books, with a pile in front of each person.
Teacher Jiang glanced at his watch and spoke loudly, "Alright, time is almost up. I have a few announcements: First, tomorrow at 9 am, the opening ceremony will take place in the stadium. Everyone should enter by 8:30 am and attend. Second, there will be a welcome party in the auditorium at 7:30 pm tomorrow. Third, military training will begin the day after. After the opening ceremony, class committee members should collect the military training uniforms. A special emphasis on military training discipline: do not try to violate it, or you’ll face punishment from the trainers."
"Oh no..." The girls screamed loudly; military training is a huge challenge for them, testing both physical and mental endurance, especially since it’s extremely hot now. The skin they’ve cared for all summer is bound to get tanned.
"Oh no, every time I tan, it takes months to recover."
"At least you can recover, that’s not bad."
All sorts of agitations came from the girls, as if doomsday was upon them, while the boys straightened their backs for once, knowing they could at least avoid the tanning.
"Stop complaining, let’s disperse quickly; otherwise, you might be climbing over the gate to get in," Teacher Jiang laughed and shook his head; the girls reacted the same way every year during military training.
The management of girls’ dormitories is quite strict; the gates close on time, leaving the girls no time to complain as they quickly rushed off.
Lin Tian also left the classroom, pondering whether to visit the medical school when Qiao Xiaoyi chased up from behind.
"Brother Lin, where do you live? We haven’t seen you with us," Qiao Xiaoyi asked.
"Uh, at the student apartments over there," Lin Tian hesitated but then decided to tell him.
Qiao Xiaoyi paused for a moment, then followed up, "I see, Brother Lin knows people at Jinghua University."
"Sort of. By the way, a piece of advice, kid: work out more often, or it might be difficult for you to chase Mu Binglan," Lin Tian smiled and reminded him.
"Thanks for the advice, Brother Lin. I’ll head back now." Qiao Xiaoyi gratefully smiled, then jogged back to the dormitory.
Lin Tian looked at the time, estimating the medical school had just finished its class meeting too, and recalled the campus map in his mind. Carrying his books, he turned to walk in another direction.
The medical school wasn’t far because it was just beyond the life sciences faculty. When Lin Tian reached the medical school’s entrance, students were filing out of the building.
Lin Tian carried a large bundle of books with one hand and leaned against a big tree. From this spot, he could clearly see the entrance to the medical school without drawing attention.
Jinghua University’s Faculty of Medicine was also large, evident from the number of freshmen emerging.
After two minutes with no sign of anyone, Lin Tian considered making a phone call when a group walked out of the medical school.
A girl, surrounded by three boys. Seeing this girl, Lin Tian raised an eyebrow and put away his phone.
"Mr. Xiao, where do you live? These books are heavy; let me carry them for you," one boy said, thinking himself quite chivalrous.
"Yeah, Mr. Xiao, a girl as pretty as you shouldn’t be doing such tough work," another boy chimed in, all trying to win favor with Xiao Manxuan.
"Thanks, but I can handle it myself," Xiao Manxuan politely declined their offers.
"You think you’re worthy of pursuing Mr. Xiao?" someone stepped forward, blocking their path.
