Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1579 - 1576: Iron-Blooded Tough Guy
On Ghost’s back, there were three gaping wounds, with flesh rolled back and fresh blood gushing out from them, mixing with the water and flowing onto the lone stone, staining the rock red.
There was also a wound on his right calf. Although it wasn’t as severe as the ones on his back, it was still bleeding profusely. It’s likely he got scraped by a hidden reef while treading water.
Just one jump, and he ended up with four or five more wounds on his body, making Yun Xiaotian’s heart race: "Brother Lin, will Brother Ghost be alright?"
Lin Tian furrowed his brow, glanced at the wounds on Ghost’s body, and said calmly, "Just superficial injuries, it’s fine. He’s an Ancient Yoga Skill cultivator, his vitality is strong. Haven’t you heard of his master getting injured even more seriously, almost gutted, and yet he still recovered?"
"But I must say, Mr. Wang’s training is a bit harsh," Lin Tian said seriously. Ghost was lucky this time not to be punctured by the sharp reefs, otherwise, it wouldn’t be just superficial wounds, but puncture wounds, or even fatal injuries.
"Should we stop his training?" Yun Xiaotian asked worriedly.
Lin Tian shook his head and said, "No need. If he wants to train under Mr. Wang, he must overcome this difficulty."
During their conversation, Ghost, without regard for the bloodstains on the rock, sat cross-legged, forming seals with both his hands and feet simultaneously. They were strange seals that Lin Tian had never seen before, likely a cultivation technique of the Ancient Yoga Skill.
The most astonishing thing was that Ghost’s ten toes were incredibly nimble, forming special hand seals just like fingers. Not long after he assumed this posture, the bleeding from his body quickly stopped.
"The Ancient Yoga Skill truly is remarkable. It’s said that practitioners who reach extremely high levels can control any muscle, bone, or even their heartbeat at will," Lin Tian marveled. This was probably why Ghost’s master recovered so quickly.
Ghost reached back to touch the wounds on his back and calf, then stood up again, completely focused on the river’s current like a leopard ready to pounce.
"Brother Ghost is already injured; he should stop training, or the wounds might get infected," Yun Xiaotian said with a frown, full of concern.
"It’s alright. He can use medicine once he’s ashore; Ghost has that much resistance. Besides, as a mercenary, he surely got injured before, he knows how to handle it."
Lin Tian was much calmer. Ghost had been a mercenary, participated in tribal armed conflicts, and amidst gunfire, injuries were commonplace. The bullets and shrapnel on the battlefield were indiscriminate.
Ghost continued his "diving training," facing danger after danger. The most perilous moment was when Lin Tian, using his insight, saw Ghost being swept sideways by the water flow as he jumped down, crashing into a horizontally growing hidden reef, almost getting his abdomen pierced.
Lin Tian nearly jumped in to rescue, but Ghost, with his sharp sense of danger, vigorously paddled through the water and narrowly dodged a fatal blow.
This was probably an ability honed amidst gunfire. Without such keen senses, relying solely on luck, one would have long been buried in the yellow earth.
After countless dives, Ghost finally ended his training. For the last time, he leaped into the water, swam to the cliff, and climbed up along the rock face without any climbing equipment, finally jumping ashore.
"You finally decided to wrap it up. If you continued, I was about to consider calling you an ambulance," Lin Tian joked, eyeing his body littered with seven or eight wounds of varying depths.
At this point, there were three wounds on Ghost’s back, two on the calf, one on the chest, and others on his arm. The most severe were the three gashes on his back, with flesh rolled back and the wounds soaked white by the river water, looking gruesome.
"Brother Ghost, are you alright?" Yun Xiaotian asked.
"I’m fine, just some superficial wounds, won’t die from this. A few years back, when I was a mercenary during a tribal conflict, a stray bullet hit my chest, grazing near my heart as it passed through my body, and even that didn’t kill me. These wounds are nothing, I’ll just put some medicine on later and it’ll be fine." Ghost seemed relaxed, not bothered by his injuries at all.
Lin Tian moved behind him to check and indeed found a faint scar, slightly off from the heart.
Ghost continued, "The wounds are from years ago. Because I practiced the Ancient Yoga Skill, my injuries rarely scar. This gunshot wound scarred because the bullet took away a chunk of flesh as it left, so the mark is still visible."
Though the gunshot is invisible now, just a mark, Lin Tian believed him. A bullet passing through would tear a chunk of flesh, even leave a large hole.
The scenes on TV where someone gets shot multiple times and keeps fighting like nothing happened are misleading. Gunshot injuries are a hundred, a thousand times more terrifying than ordinary people can imagine, leaving permanent scars on the body.
Ghost walked over to a nearby tree, fetched his clothes, and returned, holding a pale green jade bottle in his hand as well.
"This is the golden sore medicine from Mr. Wang. Applying it to the wounds will heal them in a few days." Seeing Lin Tian and Yun Xiaotian eyeing the bottle, Ghost explained.
"Let me help you with the medicine," Lin Tian said, reaching out to signal Ghost to hand over the jade bottle.
Ghost paused for a moment before giving the jade bottle to Lin Tian. Lin Tian opened the cap and sniffed, catching a faint medicinal fragrance.
"The golden sore medicine is good, but might not be that effective," Lin Tian identified several main herbs, reminding him of the healing medicine formula he won from Futian Shenyi.
Ghost shrugged, somewhat helplessly. "Mr. Wang said, now Ancient Martial Artists live in better conditions, unlike ancient times when disagreements easily led to fights and injuries. Therefore, ancient golden sore medicine was more valued and well-developed."
"But now, we rely more on surgery and Western medicine, and few people study healing medicine, making the technology even less advanced than in ancient times. Many excellent healing recipes have been lost, which is quite regrettable." Ghost lamented.
As Lin Tian applied the medicinal powder, Ghost spoke casually, unaffected by his wounds, which impressed Lin Tian greatly. He was a tough man. Many couldn’t endure the pain of applying medicine to wounds.
"You just reminded me, I’ll talk to Miss later and have her send you guys a batch of medicine. These medicines are very effective for healing, especially external injuries." Having such good healing medicine at his side but forgetting to prepare them for Tianxuan’s special guards, Lin Tian was somewhat self-critical.
"I’m okay with it, but it’s Stone and the others who might need it," Ghost didn’t mind.
After finishing the medicine application, Lin Tian returned the jade bottle to him and asked, "Why haven’t I seen Mr. Wang? Does he make you train like this every day?"
