Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Skylí Virus

’I gained KB... for helping Stephen?’

Her lips curved into a wry smile.

’So, this temporal storage still rewards me for doing good... even if I never intended to be kind in the first place.’

’No... to be precise... only when I help honest people, will I gain a kb. So the three ways to earn KB are either to give food, to help honest people, or to collect infected zombie animals.

So what about zombies? Can I collect them and gain kb?’

Ivy’s eyes brightened. There was no harm in trying. Hence, she got down and soon found a zombie.

It was repeatedly banging its head on the tree.

Ivy: "..." Pretty dumb. I guess the space will not give me more than 0.00002 kb for this one.

Taking a deep breath, Ivy waved her hand. Her heart was filled with excitement.

If she can store zombies and convert them into kb, won’t ending the zombie apocalypse be easy?

Ah! She couldn’t wait to see the result.

[Do you want to store a skylí-virus-infected man?]

Ivy: "..." Wow! What a great malfunction.

’Looks like the person who made the space made a small mistake.’ Ivy guessed.

"Yes." She agreed.

[Processing request... Error! Can’t process the request! An infected man can infect the other items in the space!]

Disappointment flashed in Ivy’s eyes. But she knew that if such a good thing existed, humanity wouldn’t have struggled so much previously.

Taking a deep breath, she returned to the car.

She sighed softly, leaning back against the seat, her pink hair brushing against the leather as her gaze drifted out the window.

Silas slid into the driver’s seat, stealing a glance at her.

"Sleep if you are tired."

Ivy shook her head,

"I am not... I do have a task, though. Lure Ronan and his two minions to an isolated place."

Silas froze for a second before asking nonchalantly, nodding,

"Alright. Are you going to beat them?"

"Kill them," Ivy answered calmly. Pests like Ronan and his minions shouldn’t be left alive.

Silas remained silent, his hand holding the steering wheel tightened unconsciously.

Ivy waited for his lecture. After all, to the current Silas, Ronan and his minions were just some small-time schemers. And only the real masterminds should be punished.

"Ivy, if I ask you something, will you be honest with me?"

"Depends." Ivy sounded a bit lost. Facing those who had wronged her, Ivy had pure hatred and dealt with them as she used to deal with zombies.

However, those who had helped her... it becomes difficult to face them...

Silas stared ahead, his deep gaze hiding all the emotions brewing in his chest,

"Have they harmed you?"

"Not yet." Ivy chuckled lightly, yet her tensed body betrayed the nervousness she was feeling.

She expected Silas to ask more questions. However, Silas only nodded,

"Alright. Don’t worry, I will deal with the aftermath."

Ivy’s heart fluttered, and she turned to look at Silas. His side profile was illuminated under the faint glow of the dome light.

He still had a serious expression; however, Ivy only felt secure and warm. Her eyes moistened, and for a moment, she wanted to cry.

How long has it been since she had heard that line? Her real family members were the last people who had said those lines.

After Silas died, Ivy was often regarded as a useless burden. Her superpower was taken away by the Ravencroft family, and she had turned blind. freёnovelkiss-com

In the apocalypse, being an ordinary human was already a sin... disabled people like her... had become the sinners... the burdens.

Sometimes, Ivy always wondered if Silas was alive, would she have been tortured and violated? The answer she received every single time... was a no.

She had known Silas since childhood, loved him since childhood, and was aware of his choices and decisions.

He loved her like she was the only lovable person in the entire world...hence, he died for her.

She loved him like a rat in the gutter, admiring the moon... hence, she will stay away from him.

Her jinx was real. And she had no interest in proving otherwise.

If only Silas had died while staying near her, she might have believed it was all her illusions.

But.. Silas’s subordinates, his parents, her best friends, her parents, and even some of the kind passerbys... all of them died.

The chilling reality brought Ivy back from her stupor. She looked away, her voice sounded soft yet distant,

"Thank you."

The ride back home was a quiet one. To Silas’s surprise, none of the zombies came in between. Even when they heard the sound of the engine... it was strange.

Silas massaged his head, feeling slightly dizzy. Even the road in front of him started to look distorted.

"Ivy..." He only managed to call out softly before his head drooped on the steering wheel. If his head had met with the steering wheel, he would have incurred serious injuries.

A pale hand immediately protected Silas’s head from impact.

At the same time, Ivy skillfully turned the steering wheel, preventing the car from crashing into one of the walls.

With some effort, Ivy stopped the car on the left side of the road and panted. It was pretty difficult for her current body to control the car with Silas in the driver’s seat.

However, she wasn’t worried about herself; instead, she patted Silas’s face.

"Silas? Silas? What happened?"

Ring. Ring.

Silas’s phone rang. Ivy, with an irritated expression, was about to throw it away when she saw Stephen’s name flashing on the screen.

She pressed the answer button and was about to ask for help when she heard a familiar yet unfamiliar voice,

"Silas? Your uncle has fainted. In fact, more than 20 people have fainted, and I am feeling dizzy too. What should we do?"

Ivy was puzzled for a few seconds before she realized what was happening.

All the pieces that were difficult to understand before created a whole picture for her now.
