Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 427: The Trap
Seeing Mae hesitating to call, May Morgan got impatient and quickly said to her, "Then give me your phone, let me call Victor Grant."
Mae considered for a moment, then took out her phone and handed it to May. May grabbed her phone and quickly dialed Victor Grant’s number.
But at that time, Victor Grant was negotiating with Oscar Owens and had no time to answer the phone.
May called several times, but Victor Grant kept rejecting the calls, making her even more anxious. Victor not picking up calls from the family’s servants must mean he was dealing with something more important. What could be more important than capturing Maxwell Vance for revenge?
Perhaps, at this moment, Maxwell had already been successfully captured by Victor Grant?
May wasn’t afraid of Maxwell being killed by Victor, but she didn’t want Victor and Vincent Vance to become enemies because that would be falling into Logan Vance’s trap.
What to do? What to do? How could she get Victor Grant to answer the phone?
May held the phone and looked around, only then realizing she was in the same hospital as Heather Holt. Her only option now was to ask Heather to call Victor Grant, hoping he’d answer his mom’s call.
"Quick, take me to see Aunt Jennings; I need to talk to her."
May struggled to get out of bed and instructed Mae.
Mae didn’t understand what May was planning but nodded repeatedly and carefully helped her walk out. Luckily, Heather and May were on the same floor, just an elevator away.
A few minutes later, May finally reached Heather Holt’s hospital room. As soon as she pushed the door open, she saw Heather sitting on the bed, quietly wiping her tears. It was obvious she was still on edge about Justin Grant’s stabbing.
Seeing Heather wiping tears, May felt a sharp pain in her heart. She didn’t know how Heather would see her if she asked her to persuade Victor to release Maxwell now.
But the situation demanded action; if she didn’t stop Victor from harming Maxwell, Vincent and Victor would inevitably become enemies.
And when two sides fight, the third party benefits.
"Aunt Jennings, are you okay?" May asked cautiously as she sat beside Heather.
Heather looked up and seeing May, suddenly broke down, hugging her tightly and crying out loud.
"May, I know everything. Your Uncle Grant is still in the ICU. What should I do? If he doesn’t make it, how can I live on?"
Heather’s cries made May’s heart more conflicted. While softly comforting Heather, she cautiously said, "Aunt, here’s the thing: to avenge Uncle Grant, Victor has already offended too many people, and all of this is orchestrated by Logan, that bastard. If Victor ends up surrounded by enemies, it’ll be very dangerous."
May’s words seemed to alert Heather, who immediately looked up with a serious expression and asked, "What are you saying? I don’t understand. What did Victor do? Why is he being attacked by so many people?"
May took a deep breath and explained concisely to Heather, "Aunt, here’s the situation: the man who stabbed Uncle Grant was my ex-boyfriend, Adam Owens, but he didn’t know your family. The reason this happened is that he was bewitched, and the person who did that was his current wife, Maxwell Vance. He was coerced, not acting on his own will. Victor captured Adam and forced him to confess, but the Owens Family refused to hand him over willingly, so Victor pressured them to give him Maxwell, who cast the spell."
May’s explanation was simple and clear, and Heather understood. However, she didn’t see the problem with Victor capturing Adam or Maxwell since killing should be punished, and debts should be paid. So, what was May’s reason for telling her all this?
"May, what are you trying to tell me?" Heather suspected there was something more important happening; otherwise, May wouldn’t have come to her and said all this.
"Here’s the thing, Aunt, I want to ask you to call Victor and have him come to the hospital. I have some things to discuss with him, and it needs to happen fast."
May dared not bluntly ask Heather to persuade Victor to release Maxwell, fearing she wouldn’t agree, so she spoke indirectly.
Heather looked at May doubtfully, and seeing her urgency, sighed helplessly and said, "I’ll try, but he might not listen to me."
May clenched her fist and carefully told Heather, "Then just say I’m in danger now and tell him to come quickly."
Heather hesitated, looking May over, but seeing the evident worry in her eyes, she knew May was serious this time. Without hesitating further, she took the phone and called her son.
Being his own mother, a call was much more effective. Heather’s call only rang twice before Victor answered.
"Mom, what’s up?" Victor asked, unsuspecting.
Heather glanced cautiously at May, then hesitated and said, "Victor, can you come to the hospital?"
Victor had just captured Maxwell, sent Oscar and Adam away, and hadn’t had the chance to interrogate Maxwell for fun yet, so he was unwilling to return.
"What’s wrong? I’m a bit busy right now!" Victor said, intentionally glaring coldly at the tied-up Maxwell, making him shiver and unable to cry for help.
Heather glanced again at May, steeled herself, and lied, "May just fainted. The doctor said she’s very dangerous; hurry and come over, I’m overwhelmed."
"What? She fainted again?" Victor, hearing that May was in danger, couldn’t sit still, quickly standing up and striding outside.
"Mom, tell me, how did May faint? What did the doctor say?" Victor asked urgently while walking out.
Heather couldn’t continue lying and just evaded, "I don’t know much. She came to see me, and suddenly fainted at the door. The doctor said she’s very dangerous, considering surgery, but I don’t understand these things, and I’m scared. You better come over and check yourself."
"Okay, okay, I’ll be right back; don’t worry and have the doctors look after May."
Victor believed it and hung up, ready to rush out the door.
He reached the door but suddenly thought of Maxwell behind him. He turned and glared at the cornered Maxwell, coldly instructing a subordinate, "Tie this woman up. Without my orders, don’t let her down."
