Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Enemies Meet on a Narrow Road

Maxwell Vance felt wronged by what his aunt said. As she was helped out of the car, she lamented to Audrey Vance, "Who caused me to end up like this? Wasn’t it all because of that bitch May Morgan? I could have given birth to my child just fine, it’s all her fault I’m like this!"

Audrey Vance couldn’t say anything too harsh and could only go along with Maxwell’s words to console her, "Don’t think too much about it anymore. Adam Owens is still your husband, isn’t he? May Morgan isn’t doing any better herself, ending up married to a man like Victor Grant?"

Every word of this was heard clearly by May Morgan and Victor Grant, who were hiding in the car. May didn’t care; they often gossiped about her behind her back. If she couldn’t even handle this, she might as well not live.

But Victor couldn’t stand it. What did they mean by marrying a man like Victor Grant? What was wrong with him? Hell, a single strand of his hair could surpass their incompetent son Adam a hundredfold!

Because of this unfortunate encounter, May initially wanted Victor to turn the car around and leave. But unexpectedly, Victor opened the car door and got out first.

"Oh, isn’t this Ms. Maxwell Vance? Long time no see!" Victor took a few strides to Maxwell’s side, rudely pushed aside the servant pushing her wheelchair, and stood in front of her with a cold smirk.

Maxwell looked up and saw Victor suddenly appear before her, her face instantly turning green, "You, what do you want to do?"

Victor deliberately glanced at her slightly protruding belly, nearly scaring Maxwell into screaming. She hurriedly grabbed the wheelchair to back away.

Victor bent down and grabbed her wheelchair, not allowing her to retreat even a step: "Why are you hiding? Why are you acting like you’ve seen a ghost when you see me? Is my face that unpleasant? Could it be worse than your brother Adam’s?"

After finishing, Victor deliberately looked at Maxwell with a sinister smile, scaring her to the point of tears, "No, no, you’re quite handsome."

Maxwell didn’t dare to look up at Victor’s expression. After all, she had a guilty conscience; she and Audrey had just been bad-mouthing him and May. Now this guy appeared, so coincidentally, surely he was here to mess with her.

Maxwell couldn’t escape Victor’s grip, and in fright, she called for her aunt for help, "Aunt, Aunt save me!"

"What kind of tone is that? Do you think I could eat you or something?" Hearing Maxwell calling for Audrey, Victor deliberately shook Maxwell’s wheelchair hard, almost flipping her out.

Frightened by Victor, Maxwell’s stomach suddenly started to hurt. Clutching her stomach in pain, she begged Victor, "Mr. Grant, please don’t make it difficult for me, okay? I’m pregnant."

"You’re pregnant?" Victor looked down at Maxwell and asked deliberately, "Mine?"

Maxwell’s face darkened, looking at Victor with an awful expression: "Of course it’s not yours! It’s... it’s Adam’s."

"Then why should I hold back? If it’s not mine, why should I have mercy, huh?"

Victor sneered coldly, grabbing Maxwell’s arm and pulling her out of the wheelchair, scaring Audrey to a ghastly white, "Victor Grant, don’t cause trouble, Maxwell can’t take this!"

"If you know you can’t handle it, then keep your mouth shut!" Victor glared fiercely at the following Audrey, then stuffed Maxwell back into the wheelchair.

He pointed at Maxwell’s face with a threatening expression and said, "Remember, if you want to bad-mouth someone, do it hidden away. If I hear you say another ill word about May, I’ll make sure you’re in a wheelchair for life, got it?"

Exhausted from Victor’s torment, Maxwell had no strength to resist. Clutching her stomach tightly to endure the unbearable pain, she nodded obediently, "I understand, I won’t dare anymore."

Seeing that Maxwell had calmed down, Victor glanced at the car, where May was watching indifferently. With a slight change of mind, he laughed and said to Audrey, "We came to visit your son today. In the spirit of peace, let’s not cause trouble, okay? You’re not going to stop us from going in, are you?"

Audrey gritted her teeth, glaring at Victor with displeasure. Just as she was about to say something unpleasant, Victor deliberately grabbed hold of Maxwell’s wheelchair, scaring Audrey so much that her face turned pale, and she couldn’t speak clearly.

"You, you’re free to do as you like." Audrey quickly went over to Maxwell, pushing her a few meters away from Victor to avoid any further harassment from this scoundrel.

After dealing with Audrey, Victor went to his car, opened the door, and invited May out, "Let’s go, don’t you want to see Adam?"

May rolled her eyes at him, thinking that after causing such a scene, how could she still go see Adam? Does she want to lose face?

"I don’t want to go anymore, let’s just drive back?" May sighed helplessly, gesturing for Victor to hurry and leave.

Victor didn’t drive away as she suggested. He was the kind of person who, the more you slighted him, the more he wanted to show you his power. So when May sat still, he reached over and pulled her out of the passenger seat.

"Since we’re here, why not go? Besides, if we don’t go now, you’ll sneak back here later to check on him!"

"Are you crazy? When did I ever sneak..." May glared at Victor, speechless, but stopped mid-sentence when she saw Maxwell glaring venomously at her.

Thinking quickly, she smiled deliberately and said to Victor, "Adam got injured because of me; I should at least go take a look. Otherwise, how could I face his loyalty?"

Victor heard this, sneered, grabbed her hand, and threatened softly, "I’ve had enough, don’t push it!"

May rolled her eyes, deliberately provoking Victor, "Aren’t you the one who asked me to go?"

"I just wanted to vent your anger, don’t really rekindle anything with Adam!"

"I’m not as despicable as you think!" Thinking about Victor’s jealousy over everyone, May felt her temper rising. For such a big man, how could he be so petty?

The two joked and laughed as they walked into the hospital lobby, leaving Maxwell and Audrey behind.

Audrey watched their disappearing figures awkwardly and said to Maxwell with a lingering fear, "Maxwell, maybe we should head back? That Victor Grant is like a walking death, who dares to provoke him?"

Maxwell clenched her fists unwillingly, gritting her teeth as she said, "Adam is my husband, why can’t I see him? Why should I avoid May? What do I count as?"
