Chapter 345: Chapter 345: From Now On, We’re Even

May Morgan looked back at Miller with extreme disappointment and knew asking was futile. She simply snatched the car keys from Victor Grant’s hand, opened the door, and ran towards the garage.

Victor Grant saw this and quickly chased after her: "May, what exactly are you doing?"

May ignored him and ran to Victor’s car, threw open the door, and then took out the bag containing her pants from the passenger seat.

After taking out the clothes, she searched every inch of the pants but couldn’t find the Jade Pendant. Not finding the Jade Pendant, May’s anger finally rose. She abruptly threw the clothes in her hand at Victor, and yelled at him angrily: "Where’s the Jade Pendant? Where did you hide it?"

Victor looked at May as if she was ready to fight him, but his face remained calm: "I don’t know what you’re talking about. What Jade Pendant? I’ve never seen it."

"You’ve never seen it? Victor Grant, the Jade Pendant is with you. You deliberately hid it, didn’t you? You and Miller are in cahoots to deceive me. You just want to hide that Jade Pendant so that you can stop me from rescuing Vincent, isn’t it?"

At this point, May no longer wanted to be polite with Victor. She had told him before that Vincent was her bottom line, her untouchable territory. If he crossed the line, he couldn’t blame her for being harsh.

Miller listened on the side, her face went pale, and she quickly pleaded with May: "Miss Morgan, you can’t wrong me like this! I really didn’t take your things, really."

May ignored her too, her angry eyes fixed fiercely on Victor’s face, tears at the corners of her eyes, threatening him word for word: "Victor Grant, I’ve told you before, Vincent’s life is our only bottom line. Don’t even think about harming him. I’ll stay with you, but if you intend to harm him, I won’t let you go."

Victor clenched his fingers, seeing May crying so desperately, his heart finally wavered a bit: "I’m sorry, I just don’t want you to get hurt."

This was tantamount to admitting that the Jade Pendant was with him. Upon hearing this, May quickly grabbed his wrist in excitement, pleading with him: "Can you return the Jade Pendant? I’m begging you. Without this Jade Pendant, Vincent will die. Victor Grant, as long as you return the Jade Pendant, I’ll agree to anything."

Victor hesitated, then suddenly threw May’s hand off and turned away: "I’m sorry, I can’t return the Jade Pendant to you."

"Why?"

"I went to see your father. He told me everything about Vincent and the Jade Pendant. May, you know I love you. I can’t let you be in danger, not even a little bit. Especially since saving Vincent this time could take your life. How could I agree to such a thing?"

"Then... aren’t you afraid of losing me now?" May gritted her teeth and threatened him one last time: "I warn you again. Return the Jade Pendant to me, and we’ll act like nothing happened between us. Otherwise..."

"Otherwise what? What can you do?" Victor was also angered by May. Why was she so good to Vincent? This was a life-threatening matter, yet she was willing to do it so willingly. Where did that leave him, her husband?

"Victor Grant, you said so. From now on, we have no relationship!" May pushed Victor hard and turned to walk out of the villa.

It was already past two in the middle of the night, and there was not even a person on the road. Victor was worried she’d encounter danger when she ran out like this.

"Where are you going? You’re not allowed to go anywhere!" Victor panicked too and hastily grabbed May’s wrist, pulling her back.

May immediately gave him a slap: "Get lost, we have no relationship anymore, don’t touch me!"

Victor frowned, didn’t say a word, and gripped May’s waist, hoisting her onto his shoulder, and turned to head back into the villa.

"You think saying we have no relationship means we have none? I’m telling you, our marital status is legally recognized. If you want to get rid of me, there’s no way!"

As he spoke, Victor already hoisted May onto the bed in the upstairs bedroom and simultaneously pulled out a bright and shiny handcuff from the nearby drawer, cuffing May’s wrist to the bed.

May was about to go mad with anger, struggling fiercely while shouting at Victor: "Victor Grant, you bastard, what are you doing?"

"Don’t mess with me, I don’t want to argue with you, but I absolutely won’t allow you to do something stupid!" Victor pointed angrily at May’s face.

The handcuff was tightly secured around May’s wrist. Despite her strength, she couldn’t break free. Victor had prepared this handcuff long ago to prevent May from doing something stupid like last time, wanting to jump off a building. Now that things had escalated to this point, Victor felt the handcuff could be put to use.

May struggled for a while but found it all futile. She suddenly began to cry very loudly and miserably: "Victor Grant, you bastard, I misjudged you."

Seeing May crying, Victor felt uncomfortable, so he quickly turned his face away, trying to avoid May’s tears to prevent himself from softening.

"I’ve always been a bastard. It’s not the first day you’ve found out. Whether you’ve misjudged me or not, I’m still your husband, and we have the certificate."

"Don’t be so petty, Vincent is really pitiful. Don’t you feel sad seeing him lying in bed? He became like this because of me. If you don’t feel guilty, I will."

Victor clenched his fingers, forcing himself to tell May: "I have always been at odds with him, where’s the pity in that? Honestly, not killing him was for your sake, not wanting to make you sad."

"What you’re doing now isn’t intended to hurt me? Do you know that without the Jade Pendant, Vincent’s life is also lost? He’s still so young yet has to lie in bed for the rest of his life. Are you hard-hearted enough?"

"I’m not as ruthless as you think. If I could save him without harming you, I’d be willing to. But saving him now would cost your life, and I’m not stupid enough to watch the woman I love die before me without doing anything."

Seeing Victor like this, May closed her eyes in desperation and asked him one last time: "I’ll ask you one more time, are you not going to hand over the Jade Pendant?"

Victor looked at May, saying nothing. When May saw his silence, she continued: "If you insist on doing this, then we’ll have to part ways. Vincent became this way because of me, I will take care of him for the rest of my life. I mean what I say."
