Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 334: Mason Morgan Must Know Something
Maxwell Vance was stunned and looked at his aunt in despair: "Aunt, what do you mean by this? Could it be that the child I’m carrying isn’t the Owens family’s? Am I not suffering here in bed all for their family?"
Audrey Vance smiled faintly, but her face clearly showed disdain for Maxwell: "So what? As long as Adam Owens is fine, the Owens family can find any number of women to bear children, isn’t that just a matter of minutes? Maxwell, I advise you to look at things more openly. You are now Adam’s lawful wife. Sometimes, being more open-minded and magnanimous is better than anything else. If things get ugly and the Owens family doesn’t want you anymore, that’s just a matter of a word."
Over the years, Audrey Vance had seen the cold and warm sides of human emotions and the bonds of marriage. Because she had no children, she endured a lot of grievances at the Owens family. If it weren’t for maintaining her title as the Owens family’s main wife, why would she humble herself for Adam, who wasn’t even her biological son?
Audrey could look at things openly, but how could Maxwell? She loved Adam so much that to have their child, she would rather endure endless torment, lying in bed every day feeling worse than death. But thinking that Adam was still hers provided some comfort.
But now, May Morgan caused her such harm and still wasn’t satisfied, wanting to harm her again, to make her endure even more suffering, right?
No, absolutely not. This time, she definitely wouldn’t let this woman succeed!
When Adam Owens arrived at the hospital, he handed the eerie Jade Pendant to May Morgan.
As soon as May took it in her hand, she suddenly felt a chill that pierced to the bone, causing her to shudder, her face turning pale.
Adam saw that something seemed wrong with her and quickly asked with concern: "May, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
May steadied herself for a moment, looked down at the Jade Pendant in her hand, then asked Adam: "Did you feel unwell when you held this pendant?"
The terrifying feeling from just holding the pendant was still fresh in her memory. At that moment, May felt as if she was being dragged to the edge of hell and that just in an instant, she would fall into boundless despair and never return.
Adam looked curiously at May and then at the pendant in her hand: ’No, when I held this pendant it felt no different than any ordinary jade pendant, just the color looked quite creepy.’
The mix of red and black inherently suggested blood and darkness, giving a sense of oppression, so it’s not surprising that Adam felt this way.
May looked down again at the pendant in her hand and mused: "But when I just held this pendant, I suddenly had a very bad feeling."
"I remember you’ve always worn this pendant before, right? Did you feel that way then?" Adam couldn’t help but ask again.
"No, at that time I was very afraid of the dark because there were always strange things in the darkness that would haunt me, making me feel worse than death. But as long as I had this pendant, those things wouldn’t dare approach."
May looked at the pendant in her hand and slowly recalled: ’The reason this pendant could protect me, I believe, is because of the Dragon Insect inside it which helped ward off evil. Because after I was inflicted by the Dragon Insect, even without the pendant, I never saw those terrifying things again.’
"Is that so? So, you mean the Dragon Insect is actually protecting you, right?" Adam asked again, understanding a bit but still confused.
May glanced at him and smiled bitterly: "You wouldn’t understand."
If she hadn’t been inflicted by the Dragon Insect, Arthur Vance wouldn’t have always wanted her to have children. If it weren’t for the Dragon Insect, her child wouldn’t have been lost for no reason. So, whether this Dragon Insect is good or bad, who can say for sure?
No, maybe someone can tell clearly.
May clenched the Jade Pendant in her hand and asked Adam: "Adam, can you accompany me to see my father? I have some questions for him."
Although Mason Morgan hadn’t lived in Crestwood for many years, he had come from there, and surely knew a lot about the Poisonous Insect Technique and the Dragon Insect. Plus, considering the dream she had last night, May felt she needed to see him.
Adam had come this time specifically to accompany May, so when she suggested seeing Mason Morgan, he readily agreed without a word.
"Sure, I’ll drive you there now."
After the two got in the car, Adam, while driving, asked May with some concern: "I saw the message that the Grant Family released."
May looked at him with confusion, not understanding what he meant: ’What message?’
Adam grasped the steering wheel and replied solemnly: "The message about you and Victor Grant getting married on the first of next month."
May turned her face to the side in slight embarrassment and said quietly: "Really? You’re quite well-informed."
"It’s not that I’m well-informed, it’s that Victor Grant is too ostentatious. Probably not just me, the whole country knows you’re marrying him now, right?"
May had guessed Victor Grant would pull that on her. Although he promised he wouldn’t interfere with her freedom during this time, he never agreed to return her to Vincent Vance, so with his character, he would surely make their marriage news well known.
Although she found Victor’s way of doing things somewhat awkward, May knew she owed him, and she had no words to say.
She had once confidently promised to marry him and spend the rest of her life well with him, so even if she was unwilling, she would fulfill her promise step by step. She had to be worthy of the Grant Family’s affection for her, of Victor Grant’s past efforts.
A person cannot be without conscience. Whether love exists or not is one matter, but Victor Grant, Heather Holt, even Justin Grant, all treated her so well, what more could she say? What dare she say?
Marry she would. Now she had no other demands; she only hoped Vincent could wake up safely, the rest, she would not think about.
"May, have you really made up your mind? Are you really going to marry Victor Grant?" knowing that she remained silent with her head down, Adam couldn’t help but ask her.
May smiled bitterly, feigning a relaxed face as she asked Adam: "If I don’t marry him, who else would I marry? We even went to France to get our marriage certificate."
"What? Why would you go to France with him to get a marriage certificate? Don’t you know how troublesome it is to get divorced after getting a certificate in France?" May didn’t understand, but Adam knew that divorce proceedings abroad are very cumbersome. Even if May wanted to get divorced, it would take two or three years, and with the Grant family’s influence, could May even find suitable lawyers to fight such an unwinnable battle?
