Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 331: I Won’t Let the Grant Family Be Shamed
Victor Grant calmed his tone before speaking peacefully to May Morgan: "I know that this time you go to the hospital, you probably won’t come back to live, so I’ll have Miller go with you to take care of you, otherwise I’ll worry."
Could he have agreed so easily to let her take care of Vincent Vance in the hospital? May Morgan looked at Victor Grant with suspicion but didn’t say anything. Victor saw her doubtful expression in the rearview mirror, smiled, and said, "Just consider me petty. Yes, I’m afraid that when you take care of Vincent Vance, you’ll have to do it yourself. So I’m sending Miller to help, you understand what I mean."
"Alright..."
So that’s where his little thoughts lay, May Morgan rolled her eyes at Victor Grant, too indifferent to argue with him.
After all, she’s his wife now, so it’s understandable that he has such a possessive desire.
Adam Owens was taking care of Vincent Vance in the hospital. Because of May Morgan’s request, he had been diligently tending to Vincent these past few days, fearful of any foul play against Vincent. Moreover, the police had found some leads on people who might have harmed Vincent, so he had to be extra careful in looking after Vincent because if anything happened to him, May Morgan would certainly resent him. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
But he never expected that May Morgan would suddenly return to the country and visit the hospital so late at night.
"May, what are you doing here?" Adam Owens was surprised to see May Morgan, but upon seeing her visibly thinner appearance, he became instantly furious.
"Victor Grant, what have you done to May Morgan? Why does she look so thin?"
Adam Owens glared at Victor Grant and questioned him harshly.
May Morgan didn’t want them to argue with each other; there had been enough trouble lately. So she spoke to Adam Owens: "It’s not him, it’s me. I just haven’t had an appetite and couldn’t eat anything lately."
After speaking, she turned to Victor Grant and said, "Victor, could you step outside for a moment? I’ll come find you in a bit."
Victor Grant nodded, said nothing, and turned to leave the hospital. As soon as he left, May Morgan hurriedly pulled Adam Owens towards the ward: "How is Vincent? How’s he doing?"
Adam Owens sighed helplessly and said, "The same, no signs of waking up just yet. But his physical signs are stable. The doctor said once he wakes up, everything should recover."
As they spoke, May Morgan opened the door to the ward and, seeing Vincent Vance lying on the bed, she suddenly felt a pang in her nose and began to cry.
She had never seen him lying so quietly in bed. Even back when they were a couple, even when they slept in the same bed, she usually slept like a log, but he slept lightly, as if the slightest noise could wake him up.
She couldn’t remember how many times he had covered her with a blanket in the middle of the night or wiped her drool, but she always remembered that feeling of safety she felt sleeping in his arms—a feeling that no one else in the world could give her.
She loved him and had always loved this man. So she was willing to risk everything, even her life, to see him one more time.
Even if she were to die, she wanted to die with him.
"May, this is Vincent’s current condition. Don’t worry too much; the doctor said that waking up is just a matter of time, it won’t be too hard." Seeing May cry, Adam Owens tried to comfort her.
May Morgan touched Vincent’s thin face, her heart aching as if it were being sliced: "I know, I’ll stay with him more often, talk to him more. Maybe it will help him regain consciousness."
Adam Owens gave May a surprised look: "You’re planning to stay here? But would Victor Grant agree to that?"
"He agreed. We’re having our wedding at the beginning of next month. In the next half month, I can stay here to take care of Vincent." May Morgan sighed softly, found a chair, and sat by Vincent’s bedside intending to stay with him through the night.
Adam Owens felt something was off in May’s words. Was she using her marriage to Victor Grant as a bargain to get half a month to care for Vincent?
"May, tell me honestly, did Victor Grant pressure you into this? If he did, I won’t let him get away with it." Adam Owens grabbed May’s arm, worriedly asking her.
Though the Owens Family wasn’t as wealthy as the Grant Family, they were still a distinguished family. If things escalated, the Grant Family’s reputation would inevitably be affected.
But May Morgan didn’t want it to get to that point. Even though Victor Grant was domineering, Heather Holt and Young Master Grant had been genuinely kind to her; she couldn’t let her selfish desires shame them.
She had said that unless Victor Grant did something unforgivable, she would go through with this marriage no matter what.
"No, you’re overthinking it. Knowing Victor Grant’s temperament, if he really cared so much, why would he willingly let me come to the hospital to care for Vincent?" May Morgan gave a faint smile, hiding her thoughts and lying to Adam Owens.
Unwilling to give up, Adam Owens was about to ask again when May Morgan quickly urged him to leave: "Thanks for taking care of Vincent these past days, go home and rest for the night. I’m staying."
After much persuasion, May finally got Adam out. Just as she was about to sit down and have some alone time with Vincent, the ward door suddenly opened again. She turned to see Victor Grant entering with Miller.
"Are you planning to stay tonight?" Victor glanced at Vincent on the bed, awkwardly asking.
May Morgan nodded, politely asking him, "May I stay?"
That question...
Victor Grant cleared his throat, turned his face aside, and awkwardly said, "I already said that before we get married, I won’t restrict your freedom. Go wherever you want, it’s not my concern."
Miller saw that the two seemed to be at an impasse again and hurriedly stepped in to mediate: "Young Master Grant, don’t worry. I just checked, and there are at least two caretakers and two servants from the Vance Family in the hospital. She doesn’t need to do much here, and even if help is needed, I am here too."
"I never said she could do anything. Vincent is like this, what can he possibly do?" Victor Grant awkwardly left that comment and retreated from the ward.
Once he left, Miller hastened to speak with May Morgan: "Miss Morgan, you shouldn’t stay in the ward all the time. After all, you and Young Master Vance are divorced now, and this might make Mr. Grant look bad."
May Morgan stubbornly stayed seated, unmoving: "I’m not doing anything, just talking to him. Is that not even allowed?"
May believed that since Vincent had done so much for her, he must still hold her in his heart. Since that was the case, talking to him more might just wake him up.
Miller saw the determination in May’s face and shook her head helplessly, quietly saying to her: "Miss Morgan, I’m just advising you. Whether you want to or not, but now that you have a marriage contract with Victor Grant, you should avoid situations that might lead to misunderstanding."
