"Hehe, hehe, hehe." On the way into the valley, Pannis suddenly let out bursts of creepy laughter at a tree, making Catherine and Vivian shudder and quickly step aside, looking at him with pitying glances.
"Damn you Pannis." Lina glanced at Pannis, then at the tree, and suddenly kicked him hard, her face reddening with anger: "Go to hell, you bastard."
"Hey hey, why are you hitting me?" Pannis looked at Lina with an innocent, pure gaze and protested, "I haven’t done anything, I haven’t said anything at all, I’m innocent." freewebnøvel.coɱ
"Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking, bastard." Lina, her face red, pointed at Pannis and yelled loudly: "Diana doesn’t just use any random tree as a toilet, we’re humans, not wolves, you big idiot."
"Eh, eh?" Pannis looked as if he’d seen a ghost, exclaiming in surprise: "You can read minds? How did you know what I was thinking?"
"It’s all written on your sleazy face." Lina screamed furiously, "You pervert."
"Big sis, is he an idiot?" Vivian spoke, her face blank, hiding off to one side.
"Stop messing around, even an idiot wouldn’t be as stupid as him." Catherine watched Lina kicking and hitting Pannis, then finally said helplessly: "Lina, stop kicking. If you kick him to death, there’ll be no one to guide us."
"Phew, I’m exhausted." Lina finally remembered the real task at hand, panting heavily as she returned to the main path, and casually said: "You’re quite a runner."
"Of course." Pannis rubbed his waist with one hand, gave a thumbs up with the other, and grinned: "I’m a professional at fleeing."
"I’m not praising you, dummy." Lina threw a hard fake kick, stirring up a shower of leaves which fell like rain, muffled words of thanks came from her: "I knew I’d feel uncomfortable after coming back, you... thank you, dummy."
"Huh? What did you say?" Pannis was busy fighting off the rain of leaves with his hands. Hearing Lina’s voice he asked, confused: "The sound of the leaves was too loud, I didn’t hear clearly."
"I said you’re a dummy." Lina suddenly smiled, hands behind her back, and jubilantly hopped forward, leaving behind a string of cheerful laughter.
"Has this woman gone mad?" Pannis scratched his head and asked Catherine and Vivian: "What gives her the right to suddenly call me a dummy?"
"She didn’t insult you." Catherine sighed helplessly, shaking her head at Pannis and speaking sympathetically: "You’ve always been a dummy."
"Hey hey." Pannis stood in a daze on the spot, reaching out his hand in vain to stop Catherine’s retreating figure: "Can you explain why you too..." Just as he was speaking, he suddenly felt someone tugging at his clothes. Turning back, he saw Vivian standing behind him, patting his arm comforting him with a sympathizing expression.
"Vivian, you’re so kind." Pannis whimpered, as if clinging to a life-saving straw, he moaned: "They just started insulting me for no reason."
"I won’t, I’ll have a nice talk with you." After soothing Pannis’ wounded heart, Vivian began following Catherine, and as she walked along she said: "Don’t worry, I don’t discriminate against dummies."
"Ugh." Pannis dropped his shoulders powerlessly and dragged along last, constantly grumbling: "You guys are the dummies, you guys are the dummies."
"Who’s there?" Came a voice from the depths of the valley, asked in a trembling whisper.
"Are all of you alright?" Hearing the voice from within the valley, Catherine spoke eagerly: "I hope the injury isn’t too serious."
"It’s humans, its humans!" A joyous cry saturated with tears broke out from within the valley, several silhouettes rushed out from deep inside: "We’re finally saved, blessed by Caleto."
"Believers of the storm, huh?" Pannis sniffed vigorously: "They smell of sea, it seems they’re human adventurers from the Sea Kingdom of Kassa. Ah, there are even representatives of the Sea Race, that’s rare."
What Pannis saw was a very uniquely featured creature, with blue skin, a large head, the appearance of a fierce middle-aged man, and a pair of robust and powerful forearms. Most unusually, there were six tentacles full of suckers coiled around its back, and a faint mist that perpetually covered its body. Just by the looks of it, one could tell it had obvious traits of the Sea Race and was likely from the Octopus Clan.
The Sea Race was the most populous race in the Yarran World and could be said to be the second most powerful race, only after the Drakes. In the Yarran World, the area of the sea is twice that of the land, coupled with the unique dimensional aspect of marine life, the number of intelligent creatures surpasses the total of all land-dwelling intelligent creatures. Some species within the Sea Race have remarkably long lifespans. Elves, the longest-living species on land, can live up to two thousand years, but in comparison to these Sea Race species, they are just like children. During the world war at the end of the Third Epoch, these long-lived powerful Sea Race creatures, due to their racial characteristics, did not all participate in the war. Instead, some continued to sleep deep in the sea, thus surviving the brutal war and the subsequent collapse of the world. They live on to this day. With these ancient Sea Races around, even the Drakes don’t dare to rashly wage war against the Sea Race, let alone other weak races.
