Chapter 580 [Do As I Say]

Boom!

With a loud crash, Chen Nuo’s body was catapulted like a cannonball, plunging into the mighty river.

The black man’s silhouette flickered continuously, shadowing Chen Nuo closely, attacking Chen Nuo’s body dozens of times under a shroud of shadow.

Ribs, waist, neck, head...

As he plunged headfirst into the river, the black man swiftly flickered away.

His body wavered in place, then appeared at the riverbank dozens of meters away.

Chen Nuo emerged from the water, shaking his head as he eyed the other fellow.

The spatial ability was indeed used with great skill, a series of attacks all executed with [Instantaneous Movement], certainly hard to defend against.

However, Chen Nuo took a deep breath, wiped his face with his hand, removing the water droplets, and grinned at the black man.

The black man frowned, staring at Chen Nuo, a hint of puzzlement in his gaze.

He was quite certain that his series of attacks had landed — every single one had hit the target!

Even though the opponent was a Controller, possessing transcendent self-healing abilities, given such continuous attacks, the opponent should have sustained some damage.

But...

The black man looked at his hands in puzzlement, feeling slightly numb. It was the intense recoil from each successful hit.

Chen Nuo sprang easily from the water onto the bank, glancing at the black man, uttering a curse.

This sentence immediately ignited fury in the black man’s eyes.

Ah yes, Chen Nuo had learned this curse word from the local indigenous black people.

The black man lunged again!

His body suddenly vanished from its spot, and then instantly reappeared just half a meter before Chen Nuo, only to disappear once more!

Soon, he was behind Chen Nuo, his fingers viciously stabbing toward Chen Nuo’s neck.

Chen Nuo...

Well, he had detected the spatial energy fluctuations from the opponent’s instantaneous movement, but he had no intention of dodging at all.

Chen Nuo simply turned quickly, even intentionally offering his neck, meeting the opponent’s fingers head-on.

Then Chen Nuo smiled brightly as the opponent’s fingers made contact with his neck.

His counterattack was simple.

Opened his mouth...

"Ptooey!"

·

A slippery mixture of saliva or phlegm hit the black man’s forehead directly.

The black man didn’t dodge — his fingers were about to hit one of the opponent’s vital spots on the neck, so of course, he couldn’t retreat now.

But soon, he was shocked.

The fingertips, clearly touching the opponent’s skin on the neck, felt as though they had struck a steel plate made of letter steel!

Well, even if it truly was letter steel, for a Controller, it wouldn’t be much of a problem.

But the black man felt a sharp pain in his fingers, and instinctively flickered backward, his body vanishing and reappearing several dozen meters away, then performing three swift course-changing instantaneous movements, distancing himself from Chen Nuo.

Chen Nuo just stood there, smiling as he watched his opponent.

The black man was dumbfounded!

His fingers throbbed with pain as he felt with his other hand, clearly realizing the fingers that had struck Chen Nuo’s neck were broken.

With a crack, he forcefully reset the broken finger bones, and under the influence of the Controller’s ability, his body healed rapidly.

The slimy saliva on his forehead made the black man fume with anger, violently wiping it off with a leaf from a nearby tree.

What kind of battle style was this?

No lethality, purely to disgust?

And why was the opponent’s body so tough?

With a flick of his hands, the black man now wielded a dagger in each hand, raising his eyebrows as he charged toward Chen Nuo once more.

This time, Chen Nuo did not stay put for the opponent to attack him.

He planned to dodge a little — put on a show.

The two figures quickly tangled together, with Chen Nuo fighting while retreating, and the black man growing bolder with each clash.

The daggers constantly rained down on Chen Nuo, relentless as a violent storm.

Every evasive maneuver Chen Nuo made seemed futile, but he also tried to retaliate in his own way...

In a mere thirty seconds, the two had exchanged countless blows, and finally, the black man roared, retreating once more.

Chen Nuo’s clothing had turned into rags, riddled with countless holes, many areas reduced to strips by the daggers.

Yet his body, his skin, bore not a single mark.

The black man was speechless, his whole being stunned!

His face had been hit with five or six spatters of Chen Nuo’s spit.

His head was even smeared with a handful of mud scooped from the river by Chen Nuo.

In the course of the battle, his dagger had undeniably stabbed into Chen Nuo’s heart twice, but Chen Nuo didn’t even attempt to dodge. He allowed his heart to be pierced, yet insisted on slapping the black man’s face...

A couple of slaps, not very damaging, just making the black man’s nose bleed.

Even more, he’d stabbed toward Chen Nuo’s eyeball with his dagger!

But Chen Nuo not only failed to dodge, but also met the blade head-on!

Then followed up with a kick to the black man’s groin!

Such an attack wasn’t lethal for a Controller.

But...

It was incredibly insulting, dammit!

·

The black man panted, looking at Chen Nuo, "You... what exactly are you? Could you be an Undying Body?"

Chen Nuo grinningly bent down, picked up his fish bucket, and pulled out a fish.

"Why do you care about my ability? Come fight again. This time I’ll stuff the fish bubble into your mouth, believe it or not?"

The black man ferociously wiped away his nosebleed.

He had already noticed that this opponent’s attack power was very weak.

But on the defensive end, it was bizarre... as a Controller, he’d hit numerous vital spots on the opponent.

The opponent seemed to...

Have a locked health bar?

The black man gritted his teeth, his groin area still faintly painful — although physically it had healed rapidly, the pain was more of a psychological suggestion.

Weird!

The black man realized that the opponent he had chosen to ambush tonight was too strange.

The last ambush against Lillian the Diamond Queen had worked wonders.

But this time, the lone opponent he encountered...

He used all his might, yet the opponent was impregnable? Where was the reasoning in that?

In this world, an absolutely invincible Controller certainly doesn’t exist!

So his understanding was that the opponent must possess some mysterious ability he hadn’t discerned yet!

This ability surely had a weakness; he just hadn’t found the trick yet due to the sudden encounter.

The black man gritted his teeth hard, staring at Chen Nuo for a few moments before finally taking a deep breath.

"You got lucky!"

With that, his figure swooshed, vanishing from the spot.

Instantaneously moving again, but it was unclear where he went.

Only then did Chen Nuo pout, putting down the fish in his hand, tossing it back into the bucket.

In the air, two strong energy waves approached, and in the distance, the space opened up with Lu Xixi dragging the Son of the Sun as they emerged together.

Seeing them arrive, Chen Nuo grinned before Lu Xixi could speak, "Don’t worry, I’m fine."

Lu Xixi naturally knew Chen Nuo would be alright...

Before he had digested all that energy, Chen Nuo remained a chubby figure.

This represented him being in an [Invincible] state.

Under such a max defense situation, let alone a Controller, even if the Seed acted personally, they wouldn’t be able to break his defense.

However, at this moment, Chen Nuo did have a weakness.

His offensive power was much weaker — at best equal to the level of a Destroyer.

"Too bad we came late, otherwise we might have caught that opponent." Lu Xixi sighed, seeming a bit regretful.

The energy waves from Chen Nuo’s battle with the black man reached a town several kilometers away, and Lu Xixi had sensed it at the mansion, bringing the Son of the Sun along at the first opportunity.

But ultimately, they arrived a step too late.

Chen Nuo shook his head and said, "Even if you arrived earlier, it wouldn’t help. This guy’s abilities involve space, instantaneous movement, and teleportation, more proficient and skilled than you. If he focuses on escaping, you won’t be able to stop him.

Unless... the Octopus Monster is here."

The Son of the Sun slowly said, "What should we do now? That guy might still be lurking nearby and might even attack again?"

Chen Nuo glanced at the Son of the Sun: "He already attacked me but got nothing out of it. If he dares to attack Lu Xixi, then he might just be courting death.

So now it seems, the most dangerous situation is for you, old fellow.

In the next couple of days, it’s best that you don’t leave the residence, and don’t stray more than two hundred meters from us."

The Son of the Sun rolled his eyes: "I’m not as weak as you say! So what do we do now?"

"Go back and grill some fish." Chen Nuo lifted a bucket with a smile and said, "By the way, let’s call Nolan and report the situation here. It’s worth the Octopus Monster’s salary after all."

·

In the morning, on a road obviously in disrepair, the outline of the city ahead gradually became clear.

A dirty off-road RV bumped its way toward the city.

Soon, it stopped about a kilometer outside the city.

The road ahead was filled with various vehicles, from dilapidated pickups, old sedans, and SUVs, to rusty buses.

All of them were jammed on the road.

Inside the RV, Corot leaned out of the window beside the driver’s seat, looked around, then jumped out of the car. He walked forward to ask around for a bit, then jogged back. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Once back in the car, he closed the door, keeping the already heating air outside.

The cool breeze from the RV’s air conditioner vent made Corot let out a breath before he slowly said, "The military set up a checkpoint on the road into the city. Every vehicle entering must undergo inspection.

Master, do we really have to go into this city? Why not bypass it?"

Gray Cat, lying on the passenger seat, licked its paw and said slowly, "Just queue up slowly. What’s the rush? Are you in a hurry?"

Corot was somewhat helpless: "This small country has been at war recently, and everything’s a mess. The large cities under government control are on high alert. Incoming vehicles need inspection, and who knows how long we have to wait.

From my experience, we might even be stuck here for one or two days before entering the city."

After a pause, Corot said in a low voice, "In the daytime, I’m human; at night, I turn into a pig. If too many people see this, it might invite trouble.

With your skills, we have countless ways to enter the city without queueing."

Gray Cat shook its head: "Just wait in line. From now on, I can’t use my abilities recklessly. It would be... detected."

Can’t recklessly use abilities?

Corot was puzzled, but he was familiar with Gray Cat’s temperament by now. If this cat didn’t want to explain, there was no point in asking.

He sighed, took a bottle of water, drank half of it, and said softly, "Alright, you’re the master, you call the shots. We’ll just get in line then."

·

Corot was right about one thing, the queue indeed moved slowly.

Since the morning, the traffic on the road moved at a snail’s pace.

By the evening, the RV finally reached the military checkpoint outside the city.

Seeing the soldiers ahead waving guns, Corot quickly parked the car and shifted to neutral.

An officer-looking black man with a gun in hand walked up to the driver’s window, coldly watching Corot.

Corot tried to communicate with him in French — he knew this country and several small neighboring countries were once French colonies, and French was once the official language here.

But it was clear that this black officer didn’t understand.

Corot could only smile and use the halting local dialect he’d learned recently, combined with hand gestures, to communicate.

Corot tried to convince him that he was a tourist from Europe, caught in the war here, just wanting to head to the capital to escape the conflict.

In the end, he wisely handed over his passport.

The black officer opened the passport, inside was tucked a 100-denomination dollar note.

A hint of satisfaction appeared in the black officer’s eyes.

But then he looked up and shook his head at Corot: "Drive forward, inspection."

Corot wasn’t looking for trouble and opened the RV door.

The black officer, having taken the money, briefly leaned into the RV to inspect, then easily jumped out and signaled to his men.

The roadblock was moved aside.

Corot quickly closed the door and drove forward.

·

The city seemed to have some vestiges of prosperity — but only just vestiges.

Corot drove into the city with the traffic, and after just two intersections, he saw at least three places with walls full of bullet holes.

At another intersection, the ground was obviously blasted open.

In the distance, some buildings were clearly burned, still emitting smoke.

The Gray Cat was already added on, paws clutching a map.

"Let’s head northwest and find a hotel to check in. The best and most luxurious one here, foreign-owned, by the capital of the white people."

Corot nodded, indicating receipt.

The car quickly turned at the intersection, heading northwest toward the city, following the map’s instructions.

Occasionally, gunfire could still be heard in the city, but it quickly ceased.

Clearly, this city wasn’t peaceful.

"Wasn’t it said that the Capital City is still under government army control? Why are there gunshots here? We could still see many traces of battle when we entered the city," Corot couldn’t help but complain.

The Gray Cat lazily lounged around, "Do you have the mind to worry about such things? In one hour, you’ll turn into a pig. Let’s find a hotel and check in quickly.

I don’t want you turning into a pig halfway through. You can’t possibly expect this cat to drive, right?"

·

Luck was fairly good.

When Corot and the Gray Cat arrived at a foreign-funded hotel, parked the car, and managed to get a room at an outrageously expensive price at the front desk, there were less than ten minutes left until Corot’s transformation time for the day.

Carrying the Gray Cat on his shoulder and with a suitcase in hand, Corot refused the hotel’s porter, quickly found the room upstairs, and closed the door after entering.

Corot put down the suitcase as fast as he could, dashed into the bathroom, and took a quick shower.

Then, after a few painful low cries, his form flashed and transformed from a human into a round plump pig.

The Gray Cat, watching Corot heave and puff at him, shook its head and said, "You’ll sleep on the floor by the window tonight."

Corot humbly grunted and crawled to the corner by the window.

The Gray Cat gracefully jumped onto the table, gazing out at the city through the window.

In the distance, another burst of gunfire rang out, but it quickly calmed down again.

The phone in the room began to ring.

The Gray Cat glanced at Corot lying in the corner, and, having no other choice, jumped beside the phone and picked it up.

"Dear sir, may I ask if you require room service?"

The Gray Cat thought for a moment and declined, speaking human language: "No, thank you."

"Sir, the situation is like this. Due to special regulations in the city, our hotel’s supply of materials is somewhat affected. We can only provide limited room service, and if you don’t require room service now, there will be no meals supplied tonight until tomorrow morning."

The Gray Cat listened and chuckled, "Has the situation deteriorated to this extent? Isn’t your hotel supposed to be very safe?"

The hotel staff on the phone replied very politely, "The hotel’s safety is no issue; our hotel is under strict government protection and has its own armed security force. Please rest assured."

The Gray Cat pondered for a bit and then hung up the phone.

Afterwards, it hopped to Corot’s side.

"Listen up, I’m going out now. And tonight, you mustn’t leave this room. When dawn breaks tomorrow and you revert to human, immediately attend to some tasks, procure all the supplies our RV needs, and fill the vehicle up with fuel and reserve some.

Also, purchase some food that I like—you know my favorite menu very well, buy as much as you can.

After finishing, just wait for me at the hotel.

I will likely be back before three tomorrow afternoon."

Transformed into a pig, Corot couldn’t speak, only softly grunted a few times.

The Gray Cat listened and smiled, "What’s wrong, afraid I won’t come back?"

Pausing, the Gray Cat seemed to ponder and spoke in a low voice, "I’ll try my best to return by three tomorrow afternoon—if I can’t make it back... you..."

That said, the Gray Cat looked at his cat servant who had been faithfully serving him these days.

"If I don’t return, then you’re free.

You can leave here and go anywhere you want. Just be cautious, you’re only an ordinary person now—not even ordinary, half of the time you’re human, half of the time you’re a pig.

Be careful not to die in the chaos."

Corot was suddenly shocked!

This cat master said he might not come back?

What does that mean?

What’s he going to do?

Is it dangerous here?

But the Gray Cat said coldly, "Shut up, don’t ask more, just do as I said."

Soon after, the Gray Cat swiftly leaped onto the windowsill, opened the window, and slipped out.
