Chapter 88: Chapter 83 Shadows

At night, after a great battle, Ye Tian and Yun Xinyan were tangled together, lying on the bed.

Yun Xinyan could no longer resist her exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep, but Ye Tian did not. He looked down at Yun Xinyan and thought about the battle that had just happened. A laugh escaped him. Indeed, once a woman’s passion is unleashed, she is either a wolf or a tiger!

If Ye Tian hadn’t been in such good shape, he might have been tormented to death by Yun Xinyan.

Slowly placing the clinging Yun Xinyan properly on the bed, Ye Tian rose gently, kissed her forehead, changed into simple pajamas, and continued his physical training in the living room.

With the training over the past few nights, the Crystal Bead nourishing his body over and over again, Ye Tian found his physique terrifyingly improving bit by bit.

It’s worth noting that Ye Tian’s physical strength had already reached its peak. He hadn’t become any stronger for years. This time, though slight, the improvement made him both happy and excited!

The training session quickly passed by, lasting an hour or two. Gazing at the bright moonlight outside the window, Ye Tian suddenly felt like going for a walk. With a smile, he put on his jacket and headed out.

The cool night breeze felt delightful on his skin as he looked up at the starry sky and the crescent moon bathed in moonlight, and he couldn’t help but chuckle lightly. It seemed like ages since he had been this relaxed.

Having a job, a wife, a woman—a simple life was what Ye Tian needed and liked.

Ye Tian didn’t go far, just wandering near the villa. Since moving in, he hadn’t really taken a good look at his place, the last stroll around had been for the purpose of peeping.

Thinking of this, Ye Tian chuckled to himself, the cool moonlight casting down on him, prompting him to recall many things.

However, looking at the night sky also reminded him of that mysterious green-haired man.

"Are those people from Miaojiang still harboring their wicked intentions?" Ye Tian muttered to himself, not really afraid that the green-haired man could stir up any big trouble.

He wasn’t afraid of the green-haired man’s abilities. What he did fear was that this person, lurking in the dark, would plot against those close to him.

The unknown was unsettling to the heart; if everything were laid out in the open, there would be nothing to fear.

As he thought this, Ye Tian felt the Crystal Bead in his chest and frowned.

Thinking of where he’d gotten the Crystal Bead, the King of Hell, and the crystal’s miraculous powers, he became rather pensive.

"I wonder how Ye Ying is getting on with the task I gave him. He’s been looking for so long without sending me any news."

Ye Tian thought it over and felt sure that the King of Hell must have known about the Crystal Bead’s miraculous aspects. However, the King of Hell was dead, so he could only figure out the crystal’s powers for himself.

He shook his head. The King of Hell had also been a ruler, but he’d run afoul of him and so had to pay with his life.

Not far from Ye Tian, in the shadow cast by the villa under the moonlight, a silhouette occasionally shimmered with light, like flowing water. The figure was watching Ye Tian at every moment.

Observing Ye Tian’s changing expressions and his murmured words, the figure in the shadow chuckled inwardly, it seemed that even Ye Tian was not invincible.

Having spied on him for so long without being noticed and still caught up in the issues surrounding the King of Hell, should it be attributed to one’s own excellent hiding, or was Ye Tian not as formidable as imagined?

While the figure thought this way, hidden in the shadow, his eyes suddenly narrowed.

Because Ye Tian had abruptly looked up, his gaze somewhat icy, looking in his direction, "I didn’t notice just now, but there seems to be a sneaky rat around here."

It was over, he’d been discovered.

A cry of alarm rose in the figure’s mind. His means of concealment was masterful, seamless in the shadows. How could Ye Tian have noticed him?

He didn’t consider other possibilities because Ye Tian had indeed spotted him and was stepping toward him.

"Not bad abilities," Ye Tian said with a cold smirk, anger in his tone, "hiding in the shadows, you even dare to spy on me at my home."

Escape!

The figure had only one thought upon seeing Ye Tian’s somewhat angry demeanor. According to various sources, Ye Tian’s strength was far beyond his ability to confront.

If he foolishly stayed, he would certainly be crushed like an ant.

With that thought and as Ye Tian was about to reach the shadow, the figure darted out in a whoosh and ran off without looking back.

Once in motion, his figure was revealed, looking rather skinny, clad in black, still somewhat hard to make out even though not in the shadows.

Ye Tian watched the direction the figure was escaping to and couldn’t help but sneer, "To think you can escape after I’ve caught you, pure wishful thinking."

With a stomp, he chased after him. The figure was fast, but Ye Tian was faster, easily keeping up without expending much effort.

"Trying to run? You won’t be able to escape," Ye Tian said with a mischievous smile, addressing the figure ahead of him, "Just stay put, will you?"

Despite his words, Ye Tian was somewhat surprised inside, not by the figure’s evasion, but rather by how superb the figure’s stealth abilities were.

If he hadn’t had the ability to see through, he might have barely failed to detect the figure’s presence.

And yet, such a person was clearly an enemy, and thus absolutely could not be allowed to live.

Thinking this, he quickened his steps and with a whoosh, he arrived right in front of that shadow.

The figure was too slow to dodge and crashed directly into Ye Tian from behind, stumbling and falling to the ground.

"So you are still running," Ye Tian said as he looked down at the shadow, squatting with a mocking expression, "Tell me, who sent you?"

The shadow didn’t reply. As he got up and saw the taunting look on Ye Tian’s face, he realized that with this man’s speed, he likely couldn’t escape.

He could only try to fight with all his might then.

With that thought, the shadow made his move immediately. His wrist twisted, and a blade, glinting with cold light, appeared in his hand.

"Die!" he shouted, putting all of his strength into a fierce stab directed at Ye Tian.

Ye Tian sneered. At first, he was apprehensive about the hidden abilities of this shadow, but now it seemed that, aside from the ability to hide and evade, he had no other skills.

He reached out a hand, very quickly! The moment the shadow’s blade had just lunged, he caught the shadow’s wrist.

With just a bit of force, the shadow let out a pained scream.

"Nothing much after all." Ye Tian narrowed his eyes. It would still be best to capture this kid alive and hand him over to Hungry Wolf for a good interrogation to find out who had been watching him.

As Ye Tian pondered this, the shadow screamed in pain, but a chilling light flashed subtly in his eyes.

Taking advantage of Ye Tian’s distraction, his other hand flipped over, revealing another blade that he thrust directly toward Ye Tian’s eyes!

The shadow was incredibly fast, launching an attack in the blink of an eye. Ye Tian couldn’t dodge in time, yet he reacted just in time.

He twisted his head and bit down on the thrusting blade.

Crack!

He exerted force, and the blade broke between his teeth.

Ptui.

Spitting out half of the blade from his mouth, Ye Tian suddenly thought that the shadow wasn’t completely incompetent; at least his reflexes were quick. "You must have other tricks, right?"

Seeing this, the shadow’s eyes widened in shock, as he had nothing left to try.

As for other tricks, he truly had none. Compared to Ye Tian, aside from hiding, what other ability did he have?

Yet observing the shadow’s eyes, Ye Tian understood that the shadow had likely reached the end of his rope. "Alright then, I’ll make it quick for you."

With that, he brutally kicked the shadow in the abdomen.

The shadow immediately knelt on the ground, unable to hold back his cries as large beads of sweat rolled down his face, his body convulsing in agony.

Ye Tian let go of the wrist he had been gripping, and the shadow lay on the ground, clutching his belly, his face twisted in pain as if his intestines had been ruptured.

"Hmph, not much of a challenge." Ye Tian looked down at the shadow and felt somewhat helpless. Other than hiding, this person had no other skills, and he wondered who had foolishly sent such a one to spy on him.

As he thought this, he was being somewhat presumptuous, for within his organization, the shadow was a renowned expert, not to be considered weak.

It was only because Ye Tian was overwhelmingly strong that he seemed to find the shadow so unbearably weak.

Meanwhile, the shadow, writhing in agony on the ground, kept his eyes firmly on Ye Tian; he realized that he had a chance to escape.

While rolling on the ground, he quietly took a black ball from his bosom and threw it at Ye Tian.

Even slightly distracted, Ye Tian immediately sensed the danger and tensed up; his finger pinched the black ball.

Pop!

At once, the ball exploded, and a thick cloud of smoke enveloped Ye Tian, obscuring his vision.

Ye Tian instantly cleared his vision; he hadn’t expected the shadow to have the tenacity to pull such a trick after taking a kick from him. The smoke even made his nose sting.

He waved his hand to disperse the smoke and looked down, but the shadow had disappeared without a trace.

"Escaped?" Ye Tian frowned and immediately chased in one direction; he felt that the shadow had likely fled that way.

After running for a bit and still not finding any sign of the shadow, Ye Tian stopped. It seemed there was no way to catch up.

Though the shadow had escaped, he realized that this person was not ordinary.

Perhaps his own strength was not very strong, but his reflexes and intellect were quite remarkable.
