Chapter 210: Chapter 205: Everything in Threes

The whaling ship had been stuck in the ice-bound ocean for over half a month.

On this day, a heavy snowstorm descended upon Antarctica once again, smothering the already frozen seascape with a thick new layer of snow and ice. The whaling ship could hardly move, trapped and struggling to find a way forward or back.

Several sailors found the captain: "Mr. George, the weather is getting colder, and this damn Antarctica is freezing over. Why don’t we sail back to port? If we keep waiting like this, our ship will be immobilized."

"We’ve taken the Asian man’s money, and according to the contract, we are obliged to wait here for him for a month," the captain frowned.

The captain’s gaze pierced through the blinding snow, fixed toward Antarctica’s direction, where the silhouette of the Asian man had yet to appear. The ice and snow on the sea surface thickened, and he didn’t blame the sailors for harboring such thoughts.

"To hell with the contract. We’ve already waited 29 days, and today is the last. That Asian hasn’t shown up. For all we know, he might have turned into an Antarctic ice sculpture!" The sailor was a bit angry, insisting on such a futile wait was risking the lives of everyone aboard.

"My lads, alright, I promise you if he doesn’t show up by noon, then we will immediately head back," the old captain conceded.

Under the continuous persuasion of the sailors, the old captain finally relented and let go of adhering to the contract of the voyage; after all, no one could walk to Antarctica and back alive. He held little hope for the Asian man.

Toot toot! Toot toot!

Suddenly, the sound of a steam whistle blasted.

"What’s going on? It’s not yet mealtime. Who blew the whistle? It must be those Indians again; they’re really messing around!" The old captain was annoyed, his temper on edge these past few days.

The door to the wheelhouse burst open, and sailors in uniform came running over with sheer delight, exclaiming, "Mr. George, that man, that man, he’s back! He’s back!"

The captain furrowed his brow and glared at the sailors of Indian descent, chiding, "For the love of God, I won’t blame you for dirtying my floor, but make it clear, who has returned!?"

"It’s the Asian man! He’s back from Antarctica! Oh my God, he is the bravest man I have ever seen. Indians worship heroes like him!" the sailor declared.

"What!" the old captain was immediately overjoyed, "Are you saying he’s back? Is this true?"

"I swear to God, everything I’ve said is true!" the Indian sailor nodded emphatically.

"My goodness, this is wonderful," the old captain was over the moon, "Young fellows, let’s all disembark to welcome this Asian who has created a miracle."

A hundred meters from the whaling ship lay a vast expanse of ice and snow, a world pure white and deeply frozen.

Carrying a purple sandalwood case and a laden backpack, with polar ice cleats on his feet and a fluffy white snow fox trailing behind, his entire body wrapped tightly with only a pair of sharp eyes visible, Ye Tian made his way through the ice and snow, approaching the whaling ship step by step. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

The old captain led the entire crew off the whaling ship, lining up in a row in front of the spiral staircase on the icy seas to welcome Ye Tian’s return. Some sailors even took out their cameras to capture this miraculous moment.

"Dear Asian friend, welcome back. My sailors and I have waited for you for a long time. Waiting has been tedious and dull; let’s get back on board and celebrate," said the old captain.

Ye Tian nodded and followed them up the spiral staircase.

The sailors immediately noticed the white snow fox, excitedly exclaiming, "Quick, catch it! Its fur is worth a fortune, enough to buy us a car in Chile."

Ye Tian’s brows furrowed, and he grabbed the sailor’s shoulder with one hand, "Stop!"

The tall black man who stood over six-foot three winced in pain, unable to muster the strength to fight back, leaving the captain in shock, who quickly came over to inquire.

"It is my friend," Ye Tian stated simply and clearly.

The old captain seemed to understand something as he glanced at the snow fox and then at Ye Tian’s piercing gaze, imagining the endless, lonely Antarctic landscape where a man and a fox supported each other, forming a deep bond of friendship.

"No one is to harm it; it is a friend of mankind," the old captain told his crew.

"Very well," Ye Tian nodded in satisfaction, finally releasing the black man’s shoulder. The latter quickly rubbed it vigorously, his entire body numb and in severe pain.

Ye Tian blew a whistle, the sound lingering. The snow fox hesitated in the snow for a moment, letting out mournful whines as if finding it hard to part ways. It ran a few steps back, then turned to look at Ye Tian with reluctance before finally disappearing into the snow and ice.

"Little guy, goodbye," Ye Tian waved farewell to the snow fox.

In those lonely, cold days in Antarctica, it was this intelligent snow fox that accompanied Ye Tian through the frigid nights, together inseparably, their profound friendship beyond ordinary understanding.

Ye Tian returned to the whaling ship, and the banquet quickly commenced. An array of canned fish was set out, sailors guzzled down cheap spirits, and Ye Tian took out the remaining Xuong Xue meat from his backpack, which immediately caused a frenzy among the crew, and they all ate merrily.

When they heard that he had killed Xuong Xue with a single palm strike, everyone shook their heads in disbelief and said Ye Tian was just boasting. Ye Tian simply smiled without saying a word, letting them think what they wanted, as there was no need to explain too much.

The whaling ship, like an elderly man in his twilight years, slowly sailed across the frozen sea. Two days later, it had left the Antarctic continent behind. The sea revealed its blue face once more, though still dangerously filled with numerous icebergs.

After more than ten days, the whaling ship finally arrived at Chile’s largest port, Valparaiso.

The contract concluded as agreed upon, and the old captain and the crew received generous payments. They discussed whether to go out to sea for whaling again.

That day, Ye Tian shouldered his rosewood case and disembarked from the whaling ship. After a long walk along the dock, he finally took a taxi to the airport, only to find that the flight to Capital City had just taken off. He had no choice but to wait for the next day’s flight.

"Damn, it looks like I’ll have to stay here for the night," Ye Tian said with a wry smile.

Valparaiso, being Chile’s largest port city, had a population of about one million, and as the busiest hub for import and export, it fostered daily capital flows amounting to hundreds of millions, driving the entire country’s economy.

It was a thriving industrial metropolis, which also happened to be an empire of violence plagued by rampant crimes such as kidnapping, robbery, theft, and rape.

Ye Tian had just stepped out of the taxi when he saw someone being robbed on the dimly lit street. He didn’t want to interfere, especially since he was in a foreign land.

It was lunchtime, so he found a local restaurant that seemed clean enough and stepped inside.

Sitting in an inconspicuous corner, Ye Tian casually ordered a few dishes.

The dishes arrived quickly, all fresh seafood, but prepared differently than back home, which was quite strange to the taste, leaving him a bit frustrated.

After eating only half-full, Ye Tian stood up to pay the bill. Just then, a blonde lady walked towards him and happened to bump right into Ye Tian’s chest.

The blonde stumbled, her sharp red high heel snapping off, and she nearly fell to the ground if not for Ye Tian’s quick reflexes to catch her.

The blonde said, "What’s wrong with you? Don’t you know how to give way? Oh my God, my new shoes, you’ve ruined them!"

Ye Tian couldn’t help but smile wryly, thinking to himself that clearly, it was she who had bumped into him. Despite her pretty looks, she had the gall to accuse him unjustly.

"What do you want me to do?" Ye Tian shrugged.

"Oh my God, you’ve ruined my new shoes, and I think I’ve also twisted my foot. I feel terrible all over. If you don’t want me to call the police, then just compensate me," the blonde exaggerated her performance.

The restaurant owner wiped down the tables with his head lowered, seemingly inured to the spectacle, which only confirmed Ye Tian’s suspicions.

"This is getting more interesting. So one can encounter scammers abroad too, huh? Hehe, too bad the acting is just too over the top," Ye Tian mused in Mandarin, which the blonde couldn’t understand.

"I’m sorry, but I don’t have the habit of being an easy mark. You’ve chosen the wrong target. Despite your sexy and alluring exterior, you lack a kind heart, which makes me very uncomfortable," Ye Tian said in fluent Spanish.

Hearing these words, the blonde felt slightly ashamed and didn’t say anything else, silently picking up her high heels and walking away.

"Stop!" Ye Tian yelled.

At first, the flicker of embarrassment on the blonde’s face had almost made Ye Tian feel a hint of fondness for her, but when he discovered his rosewood case had been switched out, he became slightly angry.

"So this foreign chick isn’t just a scammer, she’s also a nimble-fingered thief!" Ye Tian said with a cold chuckle and a shake of his head.

Hearing Ye Tian’s words, the blonde bolted out of the restaurant, running barefoot on the street. Her speed was surprisingly fast, suggesting she was no stranger to being chased, an evidently practiced skill.

Unfortunately, just as she dashed into an alley across the street, she found the Asian man standing there waiting for her, as if he had been there for quite some time.

"Give it back, and you can go," Ye Tian said in perfect Spanish, with his back turned to the blonde at the narrow alley entrance.

The blonde paused, then took off at top speed, this time intelligently choosing the secluded alleys as her escape route. Zigzagging through the complicated network of lanes, she ran for about two miles before crouching down to catch her breath at what she deemed the safest alley corner.

Gasping for air, the blonde thought she had finally lost Ye Tian.

But just then, a soft and uncanny voice sounded.

"Give it back to me, and you can leave. Don’t let me say it a third time, because if I do, my attitude won’t be the same."
