Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back-Chapter 325: They Specifically Asked for You
Professor Truman didn’t speak immediately and only said, "Tanya, come to my house now. There’s an important figure here who wants to see you."
"Alright."
Tanya Sinclair didn’t hesitate; she had complete trust in her mentor.
Hanging up, Tanya Sinclair immediately made her way to Professor Truman’s house.
However, as soon as she got out of the car, she sensed something unusual; there were two military vehicles parked downstairs at the professor’s house, with two guards posted at the door.
Tanya Sinclair faintly realized that this matter was no trivial affair.
"Tanya." The professor’s wife opened the door to welcome her, "Hurry, come in."
Tanya Sinclair quickly walked over, "Madam, do we have guests?"
The professor’s wife patted her hand, took a glance at the guards outside, and whispered, "It’s Minister Walsh from the Defense Ministry and Secretary-General Crawford from the Foreign Ministry. They’ve been in the study for an hour, it seems they’re here for you."
What could be the matter for such high-level figures to come looking for her?
Tanya Sinclair said, "I’ll go in now."
"Tanya!" The professor’s wife grabbed her, whispering softly, "If you find it difficult, feel free to refuse. Don’t worry about me and your teacher."
Tanya Sinclair smiled slightly, "I understand."
She hurried to the study, knocking on the door, "Professor Truman, it’s Tanya Sinclair."
"Come in."
With permission, Tanya Sinclair pushed the door open and entered. Inside were Professor Truman and a man and a woman, both in formal attire, exuding an extraordinary aura.
Professor Truman introduced, "Tanya, this is Minister Walsh and this is Secretary-General Crawford."
Tanya Sinclair slightly bowed to them, "Minister Walsh, Secretary-General Crawford."
The two nodded slightly and looked at Tanya Sinclair intently, then exchanged a glance. Secretary-General Crawford got up and walked over to Tanya Sinclair.
"Ms. Sinclair, time is of the essence. Let me be frank," Secretary-General Crawford said. "Your senior, Cameron Wenworth, previously took graduate students to an academic conference. They were returning by ship! But in the Gwenore Sea, the entire ship was hijacked! The last positioning information indicated they were in the war-torn area of Zendar!"
Tanya Sinclair’s heart tightened. "What about my senior...?"
Secretary-General Crawford replied, "He should be fine. The terrorists deliberately targeted the ship because it was full of top domestic experts and scholars. They want to negotiate with the defense forces!"
Tanya Sinclair was a bit puzzled, "What can I do?"
After she asked, the atmosphere in the study became much tenser.
Secretary-General Crawford slowly said, "One of their conditions for releasing the hostages is to have you handed over."
"What?!" Tanya Sinclair was startled, "Why? What do I have to do with the terrorists?"
"We’re still investigating this, but there are no leads yet. However, the other party sent your identity information and photo to our negotiators. They stated explicitly that you must be handed over within five days. One day late, and they will kill one person..."
Tanya Sinclair: "..."
Professor Truman said gravely, "Tanya, you don’t have to agree to this! The defense force there is led by Felix Kendall. Even if you don’t go, I believe he has a way to save the hostages!"
Minister Walsh stepped forward, "Ms. Sinclair, I understand this is very difficult for you. But rest assured, we have insiders to assist you, and we will do our utmost to ensure your safety. However, the terrorist base is deep in the jungle with complex terrain, so we can’t locate it for now. We’re also afraid of accidentally harming the hostages and the tribal villagers inside."
Secretary-General Crawford also stated, "Our Foreign Ministry has already put pressure on the local government military, and they will fully cooperate."
Tanya Sinclair slowly exhaled, "Can I think it over?"
"Of course." Secretary-General Crawford glanced at his watch, "I need your definite answer by six o’clock tomorrow morning at the latest."
"Thank you..."
Secretary-General Crawford then left his contact information.
As she reached the door, she paused slightly, turning back to remind Tanya Sinclair, "Ms. Sinclair, there are 316 hostages they kidnapped. There are also several children on board. I know you are a mother too..."
"Secretary-General Crawford!" Professor Truman interrupted harshly with a displeased tone. "Are you trying to morally compel a citizen? Please leave at once, no escort!"
Professor Truman issued an eviction order, and after Secretary-General Crawford and Minister Walsh left, Professor Truman looked at Tanya Sinclair standing there and sighed with pity.
"Tanya, it’s okay if you don’t want to go. No one can blame you... You barely woke up, went through so much suffering, and your life and work have just gotten back on track... Selfishly speaking, I don’t want you to go either," Professor Truman said earnestly, "They claim to ensure your safety, but once inside, so many unexpected events can occur, who knows what might happen? It’s absurd to expect a young woman to shoulder such a tremendous responsibility!"
Professor Truman’s discontent grew as he spoke!
