Worldwide Awakening: My Soul Kinds Are Lost-Chapter 611: Fate, Indescribable _1
Half an hour after the banquet began, the entire scene was chaotic and littered with debris.
Xun Yi's expression was extremely unsightly. Just as he was about to announce the engagement, Chu Wen had snatched away the woman who was to be his fiancée.
This was the second time tonight that Chu Wen, that poor boy, had humiliated him.
The first time was during the gift presentation; his gift had been completely overshadowed by Chu Wen's, making him look like a clown.
Now I don't just look like a clown, I feel like I'm wearing a green hat!
"Young Master, this boy is already a Dark Energy Martial Artist. He must not be allowed to live!" an old man nearby whispered.
"That's impossible! How could a mere pauper like him be a Dark Energy Martial Artist..." Xun Yi's face was ashen; he couldn't believe it.
However, he soon calmed down. Dark Energy Martial Artists were indeed powerful; a single move could kill him. But his hidden world family also had Dark Energy Martial Artists, not to mention the Xun Family's Old Ancestor was a Transforming Energy Martial Artist. Killing that pauper would be as easy as flipping his hand.
The old man beside him was a Dark Energy Martial Artist and had been stuck at that realm for many years, unable to break through to the Huajin stage. That was why he ended up serving as Xun Yi's housekeeper and bodyguard.
It was precisely because this old man was present that he had been safe; otherwise, Chu Wen could have killed him on the spot.
"Since it has come to this, let's eliminate that pauper," Xun Yi said, hatred glinting in his eyes.
"Yes, Young Master," the old man agreed without hesitation, then added, "Young Master, you should handle the aftermath quickly to avoid further trouble."
"To hell with the aftermath! Let's go." Xun Yi now hated the event organizers as well.
Fortunately, the announcement hadn't been made, so there was still a shred of dignity left. If his fiancée had been snatched away after the announcement, he would have lost face completely. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Even so, despite that flimsy cover, he couldn't avoid becoming a laughingstock.
Nearby, he caught sight of Wang Linchi watching the spectacle. Wang Linchi offered him a smile, in which Xun Yi clearly saw mockery and contempt.
This intensified his hatred for Chu Wen; he had truly become a joke.
Ultimately, he could only leave in shame and indignation.
Wang Linchi was somewhat baffled. What's with this guy? Such a bizarre reaction.
Oh well, the show's over, and I've handed out my business cards. Mission accomplished.
Time to go home and sleep. Wang Linchi had discerned Chu Wen's unique system. It seemed similar to Martial Arts, focusing on cultivating Essence, Qi, and Spirit. In Wang Linchi's estimation, Chu Wen could currently handle some small firearms, and even at this level, he could already scale walls and leap across rooftops.
The Spirit Masters from Dajing in the previous world had comparable combat abilities. However, their Spirit Law seemed more like an innate Talent, while Chu Wen practiced Martial Arts, and his progression path appeared somewhat rigid.
A direct comparison in a fight wouldn't be meaningful, as their specializations differed significantly. Spirit Masters weren't exceptional in direct combat, excelling more in strategy and political maneuvering, whereas Martial Artists like Chu Wen were combat specialists, essentially a killing system.
Pitting a civil servant against a Murdering Demon—what would they even compete in? Bureaucracy or killing? They belonged to entirely different systems. A bureaucratic competition would be unfair to the Murdering Demon, and a killing contest would be unfair to the civil servant.
The chaos in the hotel soon subsided. Wang Linchi, indifferent to it all, simply left.
On the way back, he changed out of his conspicuous attire into his game character's default costume and deactivated his Charm effect to avoid attracting unwanted attention.
"Stop! Don't move!" a familiar voice called out.
Wang Linchi turned to see the gang member from that morning, who was now actually trying to rob him.
He probably doesn't recognize me, or he wouldn't dare to shout like that.
"And then?" Wang Linchi retorted.
The man recognized Wang Linchi's voice and immediately turned to flee.
Damn it! he cursed inwardly, full of regret. Of all the rotten luck, running into this menace while trying to make some quick cash tonight!
"Take one more step, and see what happens," Wang Linchi said. The fleeing figure froze.
It wasn't Wang Linchi's words, but the familiar outline of the object Wang Linchi pulled from his pocket that made him stop.
"Get over here, or I'll randomly put a hole in you," Wang Linchi called out.
The man obediently returned; he was self-aware enough to know he couldn't outrun a bullet.
"B-Boss... what can I do for you?" Li Yang stammered, feeling utterly cursed to have run into Wang Linchi both that morning and now again at night.
"Working overtime so late at night? I didn't expect you to be so dedicated."
"We must be fated to meet, bumping into each other twice in one day," Wang Linchi said teasingly, slinging an arm around Li Yang's shoulder.
It would be a lot nicer if that gun wasn't pressing against my chest, Li Yang thought.
Wang Linchi hadn't thought much of it before, but now an idea struck him. This could be a stroke of good fortune. With my Luck kicking in, it's perfectly normal for some unlucky sod to show up as a delivery boy.
"N-no, not at all! What fate?" Li Yang stammered, wanting nothing more than to never see Wang Linchi again.
Yingzhou City is huge, and I even came to the downtown area! How could I still run into him?
"Alright, alright. Since you're out 'working overtime,' I might as well pick up some scraps."
"Come on, hand over everything valuable you have. If I'm satisfied, I'll let you go."
"But if I'm not satisfied..." Wang Linchi trailed off, his gaze sweeping up and down Li Yang.
Li Yang couldn't help but shudder, terrified of what Wang Linchi might do.
"I'll just have to take apart this body of yours, weighing over a hundred pounds. I'm sure the parts will fetch a good price," Wang Linchi continued.
He wasn't interested in Li Yang whole. After all, some people, intact, might only be worth three thousand a month. But disassembled, their value could skyrocket.
"I have! I have something!" Li Yang clearly understood what "take apart" meant.
If that happens to me, I'll probably end up touring the world in pieces. Who knows, maybe that life would be better than my current one.
As he spoke, he hastily pulled out a small ornament. It appeared to be bronze, about the size of his little finger, and looked like a stylized, ferocious tiger.
"This is..." Li Yang immediately handed Wang Linchi the item he had snatched from a street stall that noon. As for its origin, he just repeated the story the stall owner had told him. It was the kind of thing where if you asked, the seller would dare to quote you eighty thousand.
Real or fake, it doesn't matter, as long as I can fool him for now, Li Yang thought.
Wang Linchi took the Ferocious Tiger Bronze Ornament and examined it. It was indeed genuine. However, neither Li Yang nor the stall owner had recognized its true nature, both assuming it was a fake.
Ordinarily, this item should have fallen into Chu Wen's hands. But because Li Yang had run into Wang Linchi first, this fortuitous opportunity was intercepted by him.
"You're telling me this thing is worth eighty thousand? I'd say it's fake even if it were eight bucks!" Wang Linchi pressed the gun to Li Yang's head, waiting to see what else he might produce.
Li Yang felt a surge of bitterness. He was just a low-level gang member; where would he get anything truly valuable? If he did, he wouldn't need to "work overtime" by running around so far from his usual turf.
If I get out of this alive, I'm leaving Yingzhou City immediately! Li Yang resolved inwardly.
"I really have nothing else... just a phone I stole a little while ago," Li Yang said with a pained expression, pulling a brand-new phone from his pocket. He had swiped it on his way here.
Wang Linchi glanced at it, took it, and pocketed it.
"Barely enough to buy your life. Next time we meet, if you try to fob me off with junk like this again... well, I might remember our 'friendship,' but I can't say the same for my gun. Whether it remembers you or not will depend on your relationship with *it*," Wang Linchi said, holstering his weapon with the warning.
"Yes, yes! I definitely wouldn't dare fool you next time," Li Yang said, forcing a smile. Inwardly, however, he scoffed, I'm buying a ticket tonight and getting the hell out of Yingzhou City! Next time? Yeah, right! I'd probably lose my life if there *was* a next time!
Of course, none of this showed on his face.
"Good. I'm off then," Wang Linchi said and walked away.
Only when Wang Linchi was a good distance away did Li Yang's legs finally give out, and he slumped to the ground. It was impossible not to be terrified; the gun had been pressed to his forehead. He had only been putting on a brave front.
"Whew... I have to get out of Yingzhou City!" Li Yang shakily got to his feet and staggered towards the station.
