Chapter 536: An Unusual Escape Technique

Still on edge because of the poisoning incident, Linyuan personally arranged the banquet and the rooms.

After Wang Sheng thanked him repeatedly, the elder smiled tactfully. "You may reminisce here among yourselves. We will not disturb you."

Soon after, the Xinghai Sect's party took its leave. Only the four and two maids were left in the pavilion that Wang Sheng had been assigned to. A dozen or so celestial soldiers were stationed nearby, though.

Even Shi Qianzhang noticed that something was off about the Xinghai Sect's atmosphere. "What's wrong, Brother Pi? Does the sect have you under house arrest or something?"

Wang Sheng shook his head. A strand of Pure Yang Immortal Power drifted across the table, inspecting the food and wine. He then sighed. "You probably heard about my duel with the Celestial Wind Sect's heir, learned where I was, and rushed over."

"Amitabha," Huai Jing intoned, then smiled. "I see. Other celestial gates must have wanted to harm you."

"The Celestial Wind and the Fengli Sect sent letters inviting me around the same time. I really want to know which two spies among the Xinghai Sect sent them, and what would happen if they met face to face."

Wang Sheng shook his head and gave the three a look. They quickly understood that they were under the Xinghai Sect's watch and should not speak carelessly.

Liu Yunzhi asked softly, "Have you been doing well over the years, Brother Pi? Your family has been worried since you left home. It's good to see you again. Now, we can go back and tell everyone that you're safe."

Shi Qianzhang added, "You really haven't changed much. It has been a few hundred years, right...?"

"Mm." Wang Sheng nodded slowly, emotion cutting through him. He downed his cup in one drink. "Sometimes, I do miss everyone."

Huai Jing asked, "Why did you join the Xinghai Sect instead of going to the Celestial Wind or the Fengli Sect?"

"I never really liked the Celestial Wind Sect," Wang Sheng replied. Liu Yunzhi winked at him from the side, and Wang Sheng smiled and nodded.

At once, the three understood that the nameless swordsman who destroyed the blood mine had indeed been Wang Sheng.

Shi Qianzhang could not help but ask, "Did anything interesting happen to you these years?"

"Only two or three, nothing worth mentioning. I cultivated most of the time." Wang Sheng smiled. "At home, cultivation progressed more slowly, but life was truly carefree. Out here, I often had no control over my fate, and I was constantly worried, afraid, and sometimes unbearably lonely. It was alright, though. I endured and got through it. Anyway, what do you all think of the Xinghai Sect?"

Liu Yunzhi and Shi Qianzhang both shook their heads.

Huai Jing chuckled. "The sect has a Heavenly Immortal, which is quite a huge support."

Liu Yunzhi countered, "The Celestial Wind Sect and the Fengli Sect are now watching hungrily and expanding constantly, though. The Xinghai Sect will find it hard to grow."

Shi Qianzhang shrugged. "I think the old man earlier is a decent fellow."

Wang Sheng expressed his view tactfully. "Actually, I think the Celestial Wind and the Fengli Sects are already saturated inside. Since I keep growing stronger, and I'm confident I won't be stopping any time soon, I wanted a gate with more potential to develop.

"I don't have much ambition. I only hope one day to make a name for myself on these thirteen qi planets, so that when people from our hometown come here, they will have someone to turn to."

The three swiftly caught on to Wang Sheng's plan: he clearly wanted to use the sect as a stepping stone.

Shi Qianzhang stroked his chin and analyzed. A hundred years here was only a year back home. Cultivators there had slowed. According to complex calculations, Earth could maintain its primal qi levels for at least another hundred years.

A hundred years at home was ten terrifyingly long millennia out here.

If Wang Sheng could break through to the Heavenly Immortal Realm in ten thousand years, then he likely wouldn't have any trouble sweeping across the thirteen qi planets with his Heavenly Ziwei Sword Art.

By then, the Xinghai Sect would probably be under his control. Using it as a foothold, Earth's cultivators could go to the thirteen qi planets and guard the gates of Earth's realm.

Shi Qianzhang looked up at Wang Sheng. "Brother Pi!"

"Mm?"

"You're awesome!"

Wang Sheng smiled wryly. "Don't say things like that so seriously, and don't hide anything from me. You didn't come all this way because something happened back home, did you?"

Shi Qianzhang immediately shook his head like a rattle. "It's not that. We were just worried about you, Brother Pi. As your underlings, it was no fun there without you. Coming out to see the world is good for us, too."

Huai Jing said, "We actually came because you forgot to bring a few things."

A few things?

Wang Sheng paused, then saw Huai Jing pull a familiar Crane-Spirit Treasure Pouch from his sleeve. He took the pouch, opened it, and saw all sorts of objects inside.

"What are all these?"

Liu Yunzhi smiled. "Little trinkets from your family."

Huai Jing grew serious. "Pi Pi, there is a jade pendant from your senior sister in there. You have to carry it at all times and never take it off."

A jade pendant?

Wang Sheng felt around and took out a blood jade. Sensing the faint murderous aura it gave off, he couldn't help but be puzzled.

"This one?"

Huai Jing gestured at it. "Yes. Remember, wear it and never take it off."

Wang Sheng did as instructed. Although he didn't know why he had to, he still threaded the jade pendant with a celestial rope, hung it around his neck, and tucked it under his inner collar.

Three pairs of eyes stared at him for a moment. Confused, Shi Qianzhang asked, "Do you feel anything?"

"It's cool and comfortable."

Wang Sheng blinked, unable to figure out what they were up to. He wasn't worried, though. He rusted the three completely; they probably just couldn't state the reason openly.

As though recalling something, Huai Jing pulled out his own phone from his sleeve, typed a few lines, then handed it to Wang Sheng to read while intoning Buddha's name.

This blood jade was dug from several feet underground in the Small Immortal Realm. Its only function is to conceal your heavenly fate.

You carry the heavenly fate that the Heavenly Court's immortals have left behind in the Small Immortal Realm. Moreover, you have survived a death tribulation outside and are now beginning to inherit remnants of the Heavenly Court's fate. Your destiny is already taking shape, and you will inevitably soar in the future.

However, those who bear great fortune usually become powerful first, then seek to seize fate. If you walk about like this and catch the eye of a Taiyi or a Grand Dao Immortal, they will undoubtedly scheme against you. At best, you will be turned into their son or grandson. At worst, you will disappear entirely or even be captured.

Never take that blood jade off. No expert can read fate on the thirteen qi planets in this region, but who knows what will happen later. Great fortune brings countless opportunities, but every opportunity brings tribulation with it.

Wang Sheng opened his mouth, but he didn't know what to say. The concept of fate was vague and intangible, yet Huai Jing explained it with detailed logic.

He shook his head and kept the matter in mind, but he did not take it too seriously. As a practical sword cultivator who believed in material reality, he simply planned to stay hidden and avoid trouble. That should be enough to make it difficult for disaster or calamity to reach him.

They chatted and laughed. Before they knew it, several hours had passed.

Wang Sheng asked the three about their plans. In his opinion, they should return home for now. The outside world was too dangerous, and they should not wander unless they became immortals.

Huai Jing said, "The three of us will stay outside. It's better if we can look after you."

"Maybe we should also stay in the Xinghai Sect to cultivate. Our cultivation is probably too low for the sect to value us, thoughForget it. Being dependent on others doesn't feel good, anyway. We should find our own place to cultivate," Shi Qianzhang muttered, then sighed. "Haaaa. Shallow cultivation means no rights. We thought we were big shots back home, but out here, we're not even worth as much as a pet."

Liu Yunzhi added, "Since we're already out here, we don't really want to return. Cultivating here is actually more convenient."

"If you want to stay, the Xinghai Sect is much safer than the open world," Wang Sheng replied. "What worries me is that I am being targeted. If you three leave the Xinghai Sect, someone might target you, too."

Huai Jing smiled. "Don't worry, Pi Pi. We've already prepared for everything before we came to find you."

He then looked at Liu Yunzhi and Shi Qianzhang. The three shared a confident glance.

"Xinghai City isn't far from here. We plan to settle there," Liu Yunzhi said, "and with Huai—Buddhist Master Yi Xiu here, we can at least handle some danger."

Wang Sheng had wanted to persuade them further, but upon seeing the strong confidence in their eyes, he decided to just continue chatting about home.

They were not worried about being overheard. Everyone chose their words carefully, making it sound like they were just having an ordinary, casual conversation. Yet during this small talk, Wang Sheng already revealed his plans and the messages he wanted them to take back to Earth's cultivation world. He also gave Shi Qianzhang and Liu Yunzhi guidance on their cultivation, resolving many issues that had troubled them.

The three had not contacted Earth directly. After hearing news of Pi Kachew fighting the young master of the Celestial Wind Sect, they had a brief discussion and rushed here. They didn't know that Mu Wanxuan and the others had already set out.

Since there was a good chance that the trio was already being watched, they did not dare approach the wormhole.

The four stayed together for a whole day and night. Wang Sheng's Dao Heart had stabilized completely. His former worries and longings turned into motivation to improve and push forward.

Wang Sheng then sought Linyuan and informed him that his three martial brothers planned to go to Xinghai City to cultivate. He requested that the sect not send escorts.

Linyuan immediately understood that Wang Sheng was afraid of spies harming the three. Although the elder felt a bit helpless, he agreed.

When night deepened in the Xinghai Sect, Wang Sheng and Linyuan escorted the three to the back of the mountain and sent them off quietly.

No one knew what the three had done, but once they left the defensive array, they blended into the mist. Although none of them had reached immortality, their aura vanished instantly.

Linyuan froze. He then said, "Their aura-concealing technique is truly remarkable."

Wang Sheng just smiled. He could tell it was the work of the Shadowless Shuttle.

After the array closed, he lingered for a while to make sure there was no movement before turning and leaving. The three surely had ways to hide themselves.

Two hours later, outside the gates of Xinghai City, three slender figures wearing veils walked slowly toward the entrance.

The tall and graceful woman in the center was in a plain white dress, had light makeup, and was breathtakingly beautiful. A unique blend of heroism and gentleness radiated from her bearing.

The two veiled women beside her kept their heads lowered, making it clear that they were maids. Their long hair covered the sides of their faces.

At the city gate, they paid the entrance fee in Immortal Stones, received three jade pendants, and entered the city quietly. They drew some attention, but most were directed to the beauty in the middle. The other two were generally ignored.
