World's No. 1 Swordsman-Chapter 535: A Name Spread Across Thirteen Qi Planets, Attracting Old Friends!
When Lishang walked out of the pavilion a little unsteady. Fortunately, once she stepped outside, she returned to her true, half-serpentine form. She quickly rode a cloud and left.
Constructing a Dream Realm consumed an enormous amount of mental power and focus. Even so, Wang Sheng pursued answers without restraint. He had begged the vice sect master to let him enter the Dream Realm six times in a row, thoroughly exhausting Lishang.
Afterward, Wang Sheng savored the experience and realized that although the vice sect master appeared aloof on the surface, she was gentle at heart. She had even agreed to such unreasonable requests from him.
The pavilion he was in was on the main peak and belonged to a disciple of the sect master. Wang Sheng had been temporarily transferred here to allow its owner, a female Primordial Immortal, could take care of him. His maids remained at his original residence.
Currently, the Xinghai Sect valued him highly. Assigning one of the sect master's disciples to look after his injuries was quite reasonable.
Half an hour after Lishang had left, Yao Xingzi gathered all the elders of the Xinghai Sect. He even summoned the two elders who had been in seclusion. After a long discussion, they decided to promote Wang Sheng to the position of administrator within the sect and grant him the title of elder.
It had only been two months since Wang Sheng joined the sect, yet he had already been given such a huge promotion. Even so, no one in the Xinghai Sect found it strange.
After all, everyone had witnessed his battle with Li Tianyao. The young Primordial Immortal, who stood alone in the Dao of the Sword, would most likely become the pillar who would lead the Xinghai Sect into prosperity in the future. Although his Dao of the Sword realm did not directly equate to his Daoist realm, someone with such comprehension and insight could hardly lag behind in cultivation.
The only real concern was Wang Sheng's background. However, the vice sect master had already provided a firm answer.
After analyzing the many details that she had seen in Wang Sheng's Dream Realm, she concluded that he was an unaffiliated swordsman from a faraway region and belonged to no faction. Carrying the hopes of his entire village, he travelled to make a living and joined the Xinghai Sect only to fight for a better future and later bring his senior sister and master here so they could enjoy a comfortable life.
His pure heart moved many of the older immortals of the Xinghai Sect.
Interestingly enough, only two hours after the sect had decided to promote Wang Sheng, a letter flew in from the window and landed on Wang Sheng's bedside.
He immediately turned over to look, but saw no trace of anyone outside. Whoever delivered it was terrifyingly skilled in concealment.
He wrapped the letter in immortal power, checked it, and immediately frowned.
From: The Fengli Sect
To: Daoist Friend Pi Kachew
Wang Sheng opened the letter. He thought it might have something to do with Lan Huilin, but after reading through it, he found nothing but praise. The Fengli Sect offered him the position of elder, the freedom to choose any Daoist partner, priority access to sect treasures and alchemical pills, a promise of full cultivation support, and a future as a true powerhouse.
The usual empty promises.
He muttered, "The Fengli Sect really has impressive reach. Why bother with these empty gestures? A ten-year Laifeng Pavilion membership card would've been more practical."
Wang Sheng shook his head, placed the letter on the table, and returned to meditate.
Barely half an hour later, he heard someone move outside. He swept the area with his spiritual perception and caught only a fleeting silhouette. When he focused again, he noticed that a jade pendant had appeared at the crack of the door. Not even bothering to look at it, he picked it up casually and placed it beside the letter.
Just how many spies have infiltrated the Xinghai Sect?
Half a day later, Linyuan arrived with fine wine and dishes to check on him and inform him about the latest sect matters. Wang Sheng conveniently handed him the letter and jade pendant.
Instantly enraged, Linyuan rose to rush out, find the sect master, and arrest the traitors.
Wang Sheng smiled. "Wait, Senior. This matter requires careful consideration. Anyone able to reach this peak has to have an extraordinary status. It's better to feign ignorance for now."
Linyuan roared, "I refuse! This place is the core of the Xinghai Sect, yet they come and go at will! This is intolerable!"
"Without concrete evidence, there's not much we can do." Wang Sheng gestured toward the letter. "The spies didn't leave even a trace of aura in these two items. The Celestial Wind Sect and the Fengli Sect are powerful. Naturally, some of our members have prepared a contingency for their future.
"I'm not defending the spies, though. I simply think we can use them instead. Have a seat and drink with me, Senior. I haven't fully healed from my injuries yet. I really shouldn't be exerting myself right now."
Linyuan sighed and sat opposite Wang Sheng. The two shared drinks and enjoyed a pleasant conversation. Soon, though, Wang Sheng smiled bitterly and softly asked, "What are you doing, Senior?"
"What do you mean?"
Wang Sheng shook his head and raised his left hand. Pure Yang Immortal Power surged from his palm, revealing threads of black qi mingling within it.
Linyuan froze. He then immediately shut his eyes and focused. Moments later, he spat out a puff of black smoke and turned pale.
He snatched the wine pot, dipped a fingertip into the wine, and rubbed it. His face darkened as he shouted, "This wine is poisoned!"
A powerful, immortal-annihilating poison had been mixed into the wine. If not for Wang Sheng's Pure Yang Immortal Power, which countered corruption, they might have fallen for their trap.
The old True Immortal was truly furious now.
Wang Sheng didn't try to hold him back. The elder pulled out several treasured artifacts, smashed the door open, and shot into the sky, furiously shouting, "Where is the sect master and Lishang? Seal the mountain gate at once! Treason! Treason everywhere!"
Before long, the Xinghai Sect, which had been at peace for only two days, became lively once more. The grand defensive array was cranked up to its maximum output, and all cultivators in the sect, regardless of status, were summoned to the main palace, forcing them to stop cultivating.
Bloodshed before the palace had already become inevitable.
Wang Sheng did not join the commotion. "Injured" and "poisoned," he simply rested in the pavilion. Outside, two martial brothers of the sect master guarded the entrance, barring anyone from approaching.
In just one day, he had been recruited twice and poisoned once.
Enough of this. I'd better just stick to my cultivation.
The Xinghai Sect wouldn't rise to power in a single day. He only had to offer ideas from the side. Once he reached the True Immortal Realm, Yaoyun should also have returned. He could then go deal with whichever celestial gate had tried to poison him.
The Celestial Wind Sect and the Fengli Sect shouldn't have sunk to such treachery. Currently, they should have focused on recruiting him, not poisoning him.
The thirteen qi planets of the ancient battlefield were truly chaotic.
While pondering it, Wang Sheng heard footsteps outside. He immediately grew alert, ready to spring into action at any moment.
However, instead of danger, a conversation came from the door.
"Martial Uncles, the sect master sent me to deliver a message. There are three cultivators outside the mountain gate claiming to be Elder Pi's close friends. The sect master sent me to ask whether he wished to meet them."
Close friends? Three people?
Wang Sheng was stunned. From the bed, he asked, "Did they say their names?"
"They did, Elder Pi. One was a Buddhist cultivator with the Buddhist name Yi Xiu. The other two were cultivators who had yet to ascend to immortality, with the Daoist names Shi Nupi and Liu Chuanfeng."
"Who?" The door opened, and Wang Sheng rushed out wide-eyed. "What were their names again?"
The female disciple delivering the message flinched instinctively. Wang Sheng looked rather frightening at that moment.
"The Buddhist cultivator was named Yi Xiu. There was also a slick fellow who called himself Shi Nupi, and a handsome cultivator named Liu Chuanfeng."
"Hah... Hahahaha!"
Wang Sheng burst into laughter. He hadn't even worn his shoes properly yet when he leaped into the air. Halfway through, he turned his head and shouted, "Quick, take me to the mountain gate!"

Outside the gate of the Xinghai Sect, three figures waited on several floating white clouds.
Among them, the bald cultivator was the most composed, standing with palms pressed together like a serene high monk. Beside him stood an extraordinarily handsome cultivator with a calm expression. The corners of his lips were slightly curved, and his gaze was clear and steady.
Behind them, a thin fellow paced back and forth with hands clasped behind his back, restless like an ant on a hot pan. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
The three had heard the rumor of the Xinghai Sect's Pi Kachew challenging Li Tianyao of the Celestial Wind Sect. Though they paid little attention to Li Tianyao, whom they had only heard of, they knew Pi Kachew far too well.
It was a creature of lightning and the emissary of electricity! More importantly, it was an iconic symbol that only cultivators from Earth would know of.
Shi Qianzhang could not help asking, "Do you think it really is Brother She—ahem, Brother Pi Kachew?"
Liu Yunzhi laughed. "Of course. Do you really think coincidences can be this precise? He's a Dao of the Sword master named Pi Kachew, something only our hometown would have heard of. Who else could it be but Brother Pi?"
"Don't speak later, Nupi," Huai Jing reminded. "You only have to act moved and choked up. I will handle talking to Pi Pi."
"Pi Pi..." Shi Qianzhang instantly looked disgusted. "Ew. You're a monk. Mind your image."
Huai Jing simply narrowed his eyes and grinned.
At that moment, the light wall of the grand defensive array rippled. Ahead appeared a large, dark crowd that exuded intimidating immortal auras.
Leading them was none other than Wang Sheng.
Wang Sheng rushed forward. The three grew excited, and Shi Qianzhang, unable to hold back, gritted his teeth and charged up, shouting, "We missed you so much, Brother Pi!"
"Hahaha!" Wang Sheng and Shi Qianzhang threw themselves into a bear hug. Wang Sheng raised his fist and tapped Shi Qianzhang's back. "You brat! How did you reach this place before becoming an immortal? How did you even find your way to the ancient battlefield?"
Huai Jing quickly added from the side, "We asked about your traces along the way and slowly made our way here."
Wang Sheng released Shi Qianzhang and stepped toward Huai Jing, his eyes filled with emotion. "Brother Yi Xiu. How are my Xiaomiao, Senior Sister, and Master?"
"Ah, they are well, but they're worried about you."
"Haaa. I've been away for several hundred years, nearly a hundred of which I've spent here on the ancient battlefield."
Wang Sheng sighed and winked quickly at Huai Jing. Huai Jing immediately understood the signal.
Wang Sheng then turned and gave Liu Yunzhi a bear hug. The four stood before the mountain gate laughing foolishly for quite a while.
Wang Sheng sighed. "I was thinking of bringing you all to Xinghai City to cultivate once I've earned a name for myself in the Xinghai Sect."
"How have you been all these years, Brother Pi?"
Wang Sheng's emotions surged until even his gaze shimmered. "Not bad. I have finally tasted a bit of sweetness after the hardships. I never dreamed you three would actually come find me."
Wang Sheng then turned back to the mountain gate. "Senior, may I bring my three friends inside and catch up?"
Linyuan stroked his beard and smiled warmly. Why not? They're your close friends, Elder Pi. Invite them in. Someone, prepare a feast for Elder Pi."
A moment later, the elder seemingly recalled a recent event and shook his head.
"Never mind, I will prepare it myself."
