WorldCrafter - Building My Underground Kingdom-Chapter 280: Despair
Baal’s eyes were cold.
Dark fog spilled from his shoulders and wrapped around his arms, turning into a gauntlet made of shadow and chain.
He struck again.
BAM! BAM! BAM!!!
Three hits in a row, each one aimed at a different point.
Jaw, ribs, throat.
Eve’s head tilted slightly.
Her body shifted a fraction.
Each hit stopped a hair away from her skin.
Baal grit his teeth.
He snapped his hand outward.
Chains erupted from his palm, not aiming at Eve’s body this time, but aiming at the space behind her.
CLACK! CLACK! CLACK!!!
The chains latched onto it.
The world screamed.
Crack start appearing all around them.
Eve’s body flickered for a heartbeat.
Baal moved in that instant.
He twisted his hips and drove his elbow into her chest.
BAM!!!
The hit landed.
Eve slid back a step.
Her dress fluttered.
A faint crack spread through the air in front of her like thin glass.
Elvira’s breath caught as she was dragged away by Ben.
Even from far, she could feel it.
’Their power were is impacting reality itself.’
Eve’s lifted her finger.
The air turned black.
A needle-thin line of chaos shot forward.
Baal’s instincts screamed.
He raised both arms, and chains crossed in front of him like a shield.
STAB!!!
The needle touched the chains.
For a heartbeat nothing happened.
Then the chains were erased.
Not destroyed, not cracking, it’s like it never even exist.
The needle kept going.
It pierced Baal’s shoulder.
The whole shoulder turned numb and gray, like the it was being deleted from reality.
Baal’s face twitched.
He forced his fog to surge and patch the gap,
The new shoulder formed, but it trembled like the world were rejecting it.
Eve stepped closer.
"You think you can borrow another plane and fight me?" she asked.
Baal roared and slammed his palm down.
BOOOOM!!!
The ground split.
A web of runes lit up under the plaza like a buried city waking up.
Even though he canceled the absorption, the bridge still existed for a moment.
A crack opened in the air.
Wind howled out of it, filled with strange pressure.
Baal’s chains shot upward into the crack, hooking something beyond.
His aura surged.
Dark fog became heavier, thicker, like iron smoke.
Eve’s snapped her fingers.
"The mighty emperor have now reduced to look for other help. What a sad existence..’
The crack in the air twisted.
The bridge Baal was using turned sideways, like a door being slammed mid-open.
Baal’s chains rattled. He pulled, fighting to keep it open.
Eve walked forward like she was strolling.
She raised her palm.
A circle formed.
When it appeared, the light behind it dimmed.
She pushed that ring toward Baal.
Baal threw everything he had into the chains and fog.
He formed a shield, layered with authority, trying to hold the ring back.
The ring touched the shield.
BAM!!!
The shield began to vanish, layer by layer, like it was being forgotten.
Baal’s eyes widened.
He backed up half a step.
Eve didn’t allow it.
She closed the distance in a blink and placed two fingers on Baal’s chest.
"You were once a Emperor of a plane. Trillion of billion lives bow down to you... Have some shame..." she said.
Baal’s mouth opened to speak.
Eve’s fingers pressed in.
CRACK.
Baal’s chest caved inward without blood.
His ribs folded like paper.
The fog around him shook.
Baal coughed, dark mist spraying from his mouth.
He tried to grab her wrist.
His hand stopped inches from her skin.
Eve tilted her head.
"Cannot you see, you have not hope against me."
Baal’s chains screamed in the sky.
The crack above the plaza narrowed.
Eve lifted her finger again.
The needle of chaos formed once more.
Baal’s eyes burned.
He forced himself forward, trying to headbutt, trying anything.
The needle pierced his forehead.
For a moment, Baal froze.
His eyes went blank.
The dark fog around him stuttered.
Then his body began to break apart into pieces of shadow and dust, as if the world is erasing a being named Baal.
"No..." Baal rasped.
Eve watched calmly.
"You fought well," she said. "But you’re still bound by by the world."
Baal’s form collapsed to one knee.
Chains fell from his arms and dissolved.
Eve raised her hand.
BOOM!!!
Baal was slammed into the ground.
The stone cratered around him.
When the dust cleared, Baal was there, but barely.
His body was cracked with lines of gray.
His aura flickered like a dying lamp.
Eve stepped closer and looked down at him.
"Now," she said softly, "have some rest."
Baal’s jaw trembled.
Eve turned her gaze toward the direction Ben had fled.
Her eyes look straight toward Elvira.
But it only for a fraction as Arthur come between them.
"You still here? Why not run?"
"I have no hope against you but he does. As long he survive I believe he will find a way to beat you."
"Do you think he have place to hide in this plane?"
"He does with primordial flame help."
Eve laughed than her body flickered.
Arthur could feel her cold breath at his ear.
"Then I will kill you in one second and go after them."
BAM!!!
Arthur spun his body, and Excalibur slashed toward her neck.
She caught the blade between two fingers.
Meanwhile, Ben and Elvira were already far away.
They couldn’t see what happened behind them.
"Ben... there’s no escaping her," Elvira said. "I felt her ability. It seems she can rewrite reality itself."
"Then what do you suggest?" Ben snapped. "Stay there and die?"
"Even if we sacrificed everyone and the Krell, no, even if we sacrificed the whole plane, we could only survive a few more moments at best..."
Elvira’s eyes flickered for a moment, then turned determined.
"Ben... let’s land there." She pointed down.
Below them was a field of crystalline spires, with a strange lake in the middle.
Ben followed her descent, but he still asked, "Do you have a plan?"
He could feel strong mana in the area.
Each crystal was a high-quality mana stone.
Even better than the white one he had mined before.
