Chapter 278: Eve

CLANG!!!

The pickaxe struck the Ash King’s chest.

The force should have blasted him back, but it died inside his body the moment it landed.

Ben’s arms trembled as he kept the pressure in.

Arthur stabbed into the same point.

Excalibur touched the cracked plate, and the air changed.

The Primordial Flame inside the sword answered the rainbow flame inside Ben.

Elvira’s voice snapped. "Now!"

Her circles locked together and pressed down on the distortion.

For a single breath, the twisted pressure wavered, like a fog being crushed by force.

Ben and Arthur poured power in.

Dark aether surged through the pickaxe shaft. Red-gold flame surged through Excalibur.

The two forces collided at the point of contact, then fused into a single beam that was neither clean flame nor clean darkness.

BOOOOOOM!!!

A thick pillar of light erupted point-blank into the Ash King’s torso.

It punched through him like a siege cannon and kept going.

The street behind him shattered, and the walls on both sides cracked from the pressure.

Half the Ash King’s body vanished.

Dark plates, ribs, shoulder spikes, and one broken wing were ripped away.

The remaining half hovered for a heartbeat, edges melting into black mist as the twisted law tried to force his flesh back into shape.

The Ash King roared in pain.

Eve smiled. "It’s time."

"NO!" Baal screamed.

In that moment, it was like time stopped.

Dark aura exploded from Baal. The chains around his body turned into dust.

He appeared in front of Eve and threw a punch.

But before he could touch her, his body split into countless pieces.

It was like he was dragged into many dimensions at once.

Boom!

He exploded into dark fog.

But the dark fog still moved like it was alive.

"Just give up, Baal," Eve said. "I don’t even need a Primordial Element to beat you."

Baal ignored her.

The black fog gathered together and turned into a handsome young man again.

But Eve was already gone.

All of it happened in a fraction of a moment.

She now stood in front of the Ash King, shocking Ben, Elvira, Draeven, and Arthur.

Arthur raised his sword. "She’s the cause of everything, Ben. As long as she’s alive, this plane will never know peace."

Eve let out a melodious laugh. "You’re always so stubborn, Arthur. If only you helped me, you would already be dead by your natural lifespan, enjoying life as a king who brought a golden era to his kingdom."

As she spoke, Eve placed a finger on the Ash King’s forehead.

The twisted law trembled.

In an instant, the Ash King disappeared, leaving only a plume of dark fog that gathered at her fingertip.

"Not bad," Eve said. "But your role ends here, Ash King."

Baal and Apophis landed in front of Ben.

"You two should escape," Baal said with a deep frown.

"If she gets her hands on the Primordial Flame, we’re doomed. No, this whole reality is doomed."

Apophis’s stepped toward Ben, making Elvira frown.

"Ben, it seems we need to combine our power again," Apophis said.

"She is far out of your league. Before, I worried about Baal’s plan, but now it seems you really can hold all our power."

As she said this, the other daemon gave a nod.

Ben understood right away.

They wanted to gather all their authority and power into him.

If he could handle the Primordial Flame, then handling them should also be possible.

"You think I will let you soil the Primordial Flame?" Eve asked with a smirk.

She snapped her finger.

Her elite guard, who had not moved at all, suddenly dashed forward, attacking the daemons.

Apophis didn’t waste time.

Her body turned into black fog and seeped inside Ben’s body.

Ben felt his dark aether rise to a new level.

A black tattoo of a snake eating a sun appeared on his chest.

Elvira landed at his side and shot him a glare.

"You must explain this later."

Ben’s lips twitched, then he focused back on Eve.

"If we survive, I will explain anything you want. Hell, I will even marry you."

Elvira let out a beautiful smile that made Ben’s heart skip a beat.

"What do you mean? I’m already your wife.

If you mean a ceremony, it’s fine. We don’t need it.

Just give me my wedding gift."

Ben sighed and shook his head. He know what gift she wanted... Aetheris Kingdom.

Arthur’s eyes never left Eve. "Lady of the Lake, I need your power."

The frog squid leaped down from the air.

Her body turned into a droplet of water that fused into Arthur.

A symbol of a water drop appeared on Arthur’s forehead.

A golden aura spread out from his body.

"Draeven, take the Krell and Nephirid," Ben ordered.

Draeven nodded.

He knew now he couldn’t do anything to help here.

Staying would only made him into a burden.

He turned and joined the battlefield, ordering the Krell and Nephirid to move.

Eve watched everything calmly.

She took a single step.

BOOM!!!

A huge shockwave exploded, and the space in front of Arthur distorted.

He raised his sword, but Baal was already standing in front of him, blocking Eve’s attack.

"Tch!"

Baal stood in front of Arthur like a wall.

The shockwave pressed down again, and the air around Eve twisted as if it wanted to fold into nothing.

Ben could feel it. It was a rule pressing against the world.

Baal’s coat fluttered, but his stance did not move.

Eve tilted her head slightly. Her smile did not change.

"Not bad," she said.

Baal’s eyes were cold. "I am stopping you."

Eve lifted her hand.

The air in front of her turned black for a breath, then a thin line of darkness stretched outward.

It looked like a thread, but when it moved, the space around it bent.

Baal moved first.

A crack split the air.

He reappeared at Eve’s side and drove his fist toward her ribs.

BOOM!!!

Eve leaned a fraction.

The punch passed through her.

No, it did not pass through.

It hit something that was not there.

Baal’s knuckles collided with empty space, and the shockwave still burst outward, ripping stone from the rooftop edges and sending dust into the sky.

Eve’s smile widened.

"You still think, you can stop me?" she said softly.
