Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree-Chapter 522: Destiny Bell
Duke could now understand what it feels like to be an Awakened, akin to having an instinct like breathing.
This bell was part of his instincts, belonging to his innate ability.
The abilities of the Awakened come in many forms. Generally, if there is a physical manifestation like the bell, it possesses a special ability.
Among the Awakened, some directly unleash energy attacks, while others transform into shapes similar to their true bloodline forms.
Duke’s bell clearly belonged to a special type of awakened ability.
He immersed his mind, and after establishing a connection with the bell, he quickly learned its name, Destiny Bell.
The name Destiny Bell was somewhat similar to the West Coast wizard organization Doomsday Bell, except that the meaning of the preceding words was different.
The capability of the Destiny Bell is that each time it is activated, the pointer will stop at one of the twelve scales, revealing the ability corresponding to that scale.
The pointer’s position is random, and Duke cannot control it.
But the rule of the Destiny Bell is that the position where the scale stays each time is the most suitable ability for the current situation; this is the choice of the Destiny Bell.
Among these twelve scales, each scale represents a certain ability effect.
But even Duke himself did not know exactly what they were. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Not only did he not know what abilities each scale represented, but he couldn’t even try them.
The Destiny Bell quietly hovered in the depths of Duke’s consciousness, ancient and mysterious in appearance, with the twelve scales on the clock face vague and indistinct, as if shrouded in a mist that obscures their true meanings.
The slender pointer was in a perpetual state of rotation, uncertain when it would stop, seemingly waiting for a certain opportunity to arrive.
Duke’s mind stirred as he attempted to activate this newly acquired ability.
In an instant, he felt a part of his spiritual power and magic power being drawn away, establishing a more substantial connection with the ancient bell in the depths of his consciousness.
A deep vibration, perceptible only to Duke, came from the void.
Immediately thereafter, an entity of about half a person’s height, an ancient bell, quietly appeared in the open space in front of him.
Its entire body was a dull bronze color, as if it had endured the test of countless years, with mysterious and indistinct patterns engraved upon its surface, appearing even more enigmatic under the light of reality.
On the clock face, twelve dim scales were evenly distributed, and the slender pointer spun continuously, just as Duke saw in his mind.
This was the tangible manifestation of the Destiny Bell.
Duke could clearly feel the close connection between himself and this physical bell, as if it were an extension of his limbs, an instinctual existence.
However, when he tried to drive it further to trigger any of the potential abilities of the twelve scales, he felt an invisible, resilient barrier.
His intentions were like stones sinking into the sea, unable to penetrate that membrane to move the pointer or ignite any of the scales.
The Destiny Bell stood there quietly, emanating an ancient and desolate aura, yet refusing to reveal any power.
A stream of related information naturally flowed into Duke’s mind: destiny has not yet woven, the opportunity has not yet arrived.
Duke understood that this ability was not a conventional means that could be used at any time or place.
Only when he was in certain special situations could he truly mobilize the Destiny Bell’s capabilities.
Besides that, he also learned from the information automatically flowing into his mind that some powers represented by the scales were extremely powerful, and with his current strength, he was completely unable to mobilize them.
This could lead to a situation where, even if the time comes to use a certain scale of the Destiny Bell, he might not be able to truly exert the power of the Destiny Bell due to insufficient personal strength.
Once again, Duke felt that although such things were wonderful, he needed to be qualified to use them; otherwise, he could only look on.
If he lacked sufficient strength to match these things, he would ultimately be unable to truly own them.
In the ordinary state, he could only summon the Destiny Bell as he was doing now, unable to actively use any of its mysterious effects.
He still did not know what the twelve scales ultimately represented as twelve possibilities.
For a wizard accustomed to incorporating all power into precise control, this feeling of being out of control was naturally uncomfortable, but it also piqued his curiosity about the Destiny Bell.
Duke reached out and touched the cool surface of the bell, the sensation very real.
He willed the impotent Destiny Bell back, and the entity of the bell instantly dissipated, leaving only the shadow of the bell in the depths of his mind.
Duke could feel the strength and mystery of the Destiny Bell; this thing was clearly not an ordinary creation and likely involved higher-level forces.
It inexplicably reminded him of the astrologer Luke he had met, who gave him a very special feeling when he showed his astrology.
And now, Duke once again felt a similar sensation from the Destiny Bell, as if it were the same aura.
"Could the Destiny Bell be related to astrology, or is it that the forces involved are similar..." Duke pondered.
He thought for a while but came to no conclusion; with the knowledge currently at his disposal, these questions could not be resolved.
As a Level 1 Mage, he was still too weak, unable even to glimpse a corner of this world, and could only continue to refine his skills, seeking to reach a higher realm as soon as possible.
After Duke concluded his research on the Destiny Bell, he left the Light God Court, as this matter wasn’t something he could figure out quickly.
Upon leaving the Light God Court, he once again appeared in the room at Habs Manor, where he checked the Wizard’s Mark and found a message from Herbert.
According to Herbert’s message, the Void Insect Race on the Florence Continent had been mostly cleared out, with only a few scattered Void Insect individuals still active.
They were conducting detailed searches and cleaning efforts to ensure no larval nests remained, while also considering how to construct an effective monitoring system.
For a backward and impoverished continent like Florence, Herbert and the others wouldn’t stay stationed there indefinitely, so establishing a reliable monitoring system was more effective.
This way, even if the Void Insect Race resurged, wizards could know immediately and come to nip it in the bud.
The Void Insect Race is indeed a powerful insect race, but before developing fully, they are also quite weak.
