Wizard: Start with Biological Transformation to Grind Experience-Chapter 132 - 007: Change
Chapter 132: 007: Change
In the blink of an eye, more than half a month had passed, and Lynch’s [Earth Sinking Spell] had been successfully maxed out.
[Earth Sinking Curse max]
With this, all six Mid-level Apprentice Level Spells had reached mastery level.
Meanwhile, Subaru and Carl’s assessment results had come out. Thanks to Lynch’s targeted supplementary lessons during this period, the two had made remarkable progress in their foundational knowledge, allowing them to smoothly pass the assessment and officially gain Inner Ring Apprentice status.
When Outer Ring Apprentices move into the Inner Ring, they are granted a free independent house with a courtyard. As luck would have it, Graham, who managed the assignment office, happened to be an acquaintance, so he swiftly used his privilege to allocate Subaru and Carl houses in Lynch’s neighborhood—making future interactions much easier.
The day the assessment results were released, Subaru and Carl excitedly dragged Lynch to the Fairy Tavern for a celebratory feast. Despite not being wealthy, they pooled their savings to book an expensive private room.
And just as Lynch entered the hallway, the two simultaneously knelt before him and shouted in unison, "Dad!"
Seeing the amused glances from those around them, Lynch felt embarrassed even though the two didn’t seem to mind losing face. He quickly kicked each of them into the room with a swift motion.
Lynch said, "What are you two up to?"
Subaru beamed with pride and said, "We’re just expressing our sincere gratitude. We truly owe it all to you, Dad!"
The two of them were merely average apprentices. Without Lynch’s intensive training, passing the assessment would have been quite challenging.
Seeing their enthusiasm, Lynch accepted it with ease.
He nonchalantly took off one shoe and stretched his foot forward: "Alright then, good sons, come lick it."
Subaru’s mouth twitched: "I was just being polite, and you’re taking it seriously?"
Truly unfilial!
Besides Lynch, Subaru and Carl had also invited many other apprentices to celebrate. Most were Outer Ring Apprentices familiar with Subaru and Carl, and many were acquaintances of Lynch from their cohort.
However, Lynch had successfully advanced out of the Outer Ring years ago to become an Inner Ring Apprentice. Now Subaru and Carl had also progressed, whereas the others remained stuck, continuing to wait for an opportunity they didn’t know when might come.
"It’s truly surprising, Subaru. I didn’t think you’d pass... um, I mean, you exceeded our expectations."
"Haha, it’s all thanks to Lynch."
All eyes naturally turned toward Lynch in the corner, their expressions complicated—envy, jealousy, and a deep sense of reflection.
A few years ago, they were all newly identified as possessing wizard talent and had just entered the Tower. Each saw themselves as chosen ones, dismissing everyone else as inferior, considering the rest nothing but rubbish.
Among their cohort, Lynch’s background was undeniably the poorest. Though no one said it explicitly, most of them silently looked down on him as a lowly peasant.
For this reason, even when Lynch obtained the Warrior Feather or smoothly passed the assessment to enter the Inner Ring, in their eyes, it was merely:
"Good luck. If even a peasant can do it, I could easily succeed with just a bit of effort."
Yet with the passage of time and their mental growth, the apprentices gradually began to realize the world wasn’t as they understood it. Perhaps they weren’t the protagonists of this world after all.
The boy they once belittled as the peasant’s son had firmly established himself in the Inner Ring, advanced to a Mid-level Apprentice, and even rumors circulated that he was the wielder of the Shadow Sword.
And them?
Most still stood in place, unable to even step into the Inner Ring.
"Apprentice Lynch."
Soon, a young woman sat beside Lynch and, with a fragrant breath, said, "Congratulations on advancing to a Mid-level Apprentice."
Lynch vaguely remembered the woman’s name was Lanice, a young lady from the city with a wealthy background. Her father held a respectable position as a clerk, making her upbringing worlds apart from Lynch’s as a peasant.
Because of this, even though they had entered the Wizard World together, this was Lynch’s first time speaking with her. In the past, let alone talking, her mere gaze towards him often carried hints of disdain, and she’d mocked him as the "honest peasant" in private chats with friends.
But now, this young lady clearly had her sharp edges smoothed by reality. After all, they were no longer the naïve, overconfident rookies who had just entered the Wizard World.
Years of grinding had taught them that their prior identities held no weight in this world. Whether noble, gentleman, thief, or peasant, everyone was the same—just Muggles.
Lanice spoke with emotion: "We’ve heard stories about your achievements. Honestly, it’s unbelievable—you’re far more exceptional than any of us and by a huge margin."
After pausing, she added with some remorse, "I want to apologize for my ignorance in the past."
Lynch shook his head generously: "No problem."
The rumors and ridicule from the past had never bothered him, and he remained unaffected by the change in people’s attitudes toward him. From start to finish, his heart stayed calm and composed.
Lanice smiled charmingly: "Haha, Apprentice Lynch truly is a magnanimous gentleman."
Pausing again, she initiated a conversation: "Recently, everyone’s been discussing your legend. I’ve heard you defeated a Black Wizard and rescued the Tavendish family’s young lady. Surely that must be a thrilling tale—would you tell us about it?"
The other apprentices’ eyes also turned toward him.
Lynch knew Lanice was merely creating an opportunity for him to boast and narrow the gap between them. The others weren’t necessarily interested; they were just pretending curiosity to gain his favor.
All of this stemmed from Subaru’s earlier remark: "It’s all thanks to Lynch."
But...
Lynch truly didn’t want to speak about it.
He shook his head apologetically: "Sorry, the Tower has confidentiality clauses."
This was just an excuse.
He had said the same years ago, but at that time, the apprentices’ reactions were filled with sarcasm and ridicule, mocking him for being rigid, inflexible, dull, and so forth—saying he lived up to being just a "honest peasant."
But this time?
Everyone listened seriously. None showed any sign of displeasure; instead, they eagerly offered reassurances for Lynch. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"Ah, I see. We were presumptuous and shouldn’t have made such an inappropriate request."
"Exactly, if the Tower demands confidentiality, it must be highly significant."
"Apologies, Apprentice Lynch. We’ve put you in a hard spot; it was rude of us."
Well then,
It’s only been a few years.
All one can say is...
Time truly is fascinating.
