[Vol. 6] Chapter 84: What I Mean is, Everyone Here is Trash

During her downtime on the [Music Fairy Ship], when Violet was studying music, she also took the opportunity to carefully research the sinister energy of Yazi and came to several conclusions.

Just like the brief glimpse of the moon in the Ancient Spirit Realm, the sinister energy itself didn’t have the ability to create demons and monsters. It was simply a special attribute used to intimidate enemies. The strange changes in the land ultimately caused this outcome.

The concept of “sinister energy” is the essence represented by Yazi. It’s a “rule” it inherited from the “[Ancestral Dragon],” not a divine power, but close to it in form.

In terms of energy level and rank, Yazi is actually weaker than the Demigod. However, because of the “rule-like” concept Yazi represents, it can do things that Demigod, under normal circumstances, cannot. It has mastered a power known as “Divine Consciousness,” which is a power in the realm of true gods.

To put it simply, the Nine Children of the Dragon, including Yazi, are like avatars or external manifestations of the [Ancestral Dragon]. They are independent beings with their own consciousness, though they are still deeply connected to the [Ancestral Dragon]. No matter what methods are used, the sinister energy of Yazi cannot be changed or erased, because it is the core of its existence. However… what if it could be covered up?

It’s like putting a plague-carrying patient in a sealed isolation suit. This would prevent them from affecting others, and they could move freely without being locked away.

To achieve this, one would need to deceive the pervasive laws of the Ancient Spirit Realm, tricking them into classifying Yazi as a completely different kind of creature.

This idea came to Violet when she was in the Ten Thousand Demons Mountains. She got the inspiration from the [Deceive the Heavens] used by Silvester Bullwer or Silvina. After analyzing the mask’s principle and experimenting several times, she finally succeeded in applying it to Yazi.

During their time in the pet space, Yazi consumed large amounts of light-element crystals that Violet provided daily. This was to replenish energy lost from the thousand-year seal and to increase the ratio of light-element within it, enhancing its properties beyond the original.

Then, using items from the [Illusory World] to reshape its appearance, combined with a certain amount of SP energy infused by Violet, Yazi could be disguised as a light-type creature with its original power, but no longer recognized as the [Ancestral Dragon]’s offspring.

Although these foreign energies are like floating weeds without roots and will naturally dissipate with the cycle, as long as they are regularly replenished, they can allow Yazi to function normally in the outside world.

Of course, the principle behind the mimicry items is that they change based on the user’s subconscious preferences, taking a form that aligns with the person’s body structure. So, to say that Yazi’s current form has nothing to do with Violet’s preferences would definitely be a lie.

But the priestess certainly wouldn’t say that aloud. It involves too many secrets. Violet didn’t explain everything in detail to the group. She simply gave a brief explanation and conveyed her intentions to Yazi through the contract. Yazi nodded and took the initiative to lead the way ahead.

They walked through what seemed like an empty, desolate courtyard, and with the addition of the large golden retriever, the group officially entered the main hall of the spirit temple.

Although it was the lair of the so-called “Mole Gang,” the interior of the building was still filled with signs of decay. The old beams were visibly worn, and cobwebs were gathered in the corners. Straw was scattered across the floor, and several dirty cushions were placed in front of them. Further ahead was a copper statue, standing on a pedestal.

Only the copper statue was relatively well-maintained. Despite bearing the marks of time, it remained smooth and clean, clearly well-cared for, regularly wiped down and protected from corrosion.

The group’s gaze shifted upwards, and the black-haired girl smiled.

“It seems this is the revered statue of the [Nine-Pattern Earth Spirit Great Saint].”

The statue depicted a well-dressed, dignified Rat Demon. It wore a luxurious robe that covered most of its body, with a rat’s head that remained unchanged for some reason. Its hands and feet resembled a human’s standard form, with its arms posed in a strange manner. It seemed like it should have been holding a long, thin object, but for some reason, that object had disappeared, leaving no trace.

After staring at the statue for a few moments, Violet didn’t linger there for long. She quickly turned her head, looking back out towards the courtyard, and then patted Little Mole’s frail shoulder.

“Remember, don’t leave my side, and don’t act on your own. Leave everything to us, understand?”

“Y-yes.”

“Whoosh!!”

As soon as the words were spoken, dozens of yokai suddenly emerged from the dark corners of the courtyard, as well as from below ground, surrounding the group standing in the center of the hall. They were armed with weapons, creating a tight blockade.

It was clear they had already discovered Violet and her group intruding into their lair, but had deliberately stayed hidden, waiting until they reached the deeper part of the temple before launching their attack. This was the advantage of the terrain-based beast.

“Who are you? How dare you trespass on the Mole Gang’s territory!”

The leader was a yokai with a few inches of whiskers, resembling a human but much taller and sturdier than Third Brother Tian. It looked strikingly similar to the latter, holding two spiked short weapons, standing with an imposing aura.

However, Violet didn’t respond to him.

“Who is this guy?”

“He’s… the second-in-command of the gang, the vice leader, Second Brother Tian.”

One of the little yokai, who had been obediently providing information, was immediately glared at by Second Brother Tian, who shouted angrily.

“You stupid Spirit Mole! You traitor! How dare you bring outsiders into our Mole Gang’s lair?! I knew something was off with you lately, always acting strangely… Tell me! Where’s Third Brother Tian? Hand him over!”

“I-I didn’t betray you!”

Violet gently pressed the girl’s shoulder, signaling her not to waste her breath on useless arguments. She glanced at the Rat Spirit, who tried to look fierce but kept glancing nervously at the large golden retriever beside her. Violet remained calm and said,

“Let’s skip the pointless talk and tests. Yes, we have Third Brother Tian. As for why we acted against him and why we’re here… I’m sure you already understand.”

“To be honest, I’m not sure how many of you yokai are under the control of the [Yokai Controlling Sect], or how many are innocent ones, like this Little Mole, who got dragged into this. That’s why I haven’t made a move yet. But that doesn’t mean I can’t or won’t act, so you better watch your mouth. This is for your own good.”

Her sharp words caused an immediate stir among the yokai, but it wasn’t because of her arrogant and dismissive attitude toward them. It was because of a specific keyword she had mentioned.

“Wait! Did you just say the [Yokai Controlling Sect]!? Do we have members of the [Yokai Controlling Sect] infiltrating our gang!?”

“Damn it, who’s the idiot that joined the [Yokai Controlling Sect]!? Step forward and show yourself!”

“Brothers, brothers! Don’t panic! This is a trick to sow discord between us. Maybe they’re the real traitors from the [Yokai Controlling Sect]!”

As the Mole Gang’s members debated among themselves, with a few trying to calm the situation, Violet narrowed her eyes, observing them for a moment. She didn’t offer any further explanation. Instead, she only stoked the fire.

“It looks like many of you are unaware of what’s going on… Here’s the deal, I’ll give you some time. If you’re uninvolved or were coerced, drop your weapons and move to the side of the hall. I’ll guarantee your safety. As for the rest… I’ll consider you accomplices of the [Yokai Controlling Sect]. Life or death doesn’t matter.”

“Oh, and don’t think about running away. Anyone who tries to escape will be treated the same as the rest.”

As she spoke, the black-haired girl casually pulled out a matchbox from her hand, and slowly drew one match, holding it in front of her.

“Whoosh.”

The flickering orange flame wavered in the breeze, trembling as though it could extinguish at any moment.

“Well then, the timer starts now~”
