Chapter 563: Might of a Golden Core Old Ancestor!

With two experts minimally at the Intermediate Qi Refining Stage wanting to visit their tribe, how could Commander Li dare refuse? Though inwardly, he bemoaned his plight, his heart quaking with apprehension.

Our tribe is weak and small. If we offend these two experts, a mere wave of their hands could spell utter annihilation of our tribe.

Any insect race capable of forming a tribe numbered at least in the millions. Although a tribe could be destroyed, exterminating every last member was a nigh-impossible task. It was precisely their overwhelming advantage in numbers and frightening reproductive capacity that allowed the insects to survive from ancient times to the present day. Countless ancient races had fallen into extinction, yet the insects remained, spreading throughout the Demon Region, a testament to their tenacity of survival.

“I have sampled delicacies across the demon race, but I still can’t stomach insects. Never touched them,” the Everlasting Immortal Fairy declared with a look of distaste, consciously edging away from the insects. Even an almighty immortal chef like myself has ingredients I don’t touch. “Besides, I didn’t have a reason to eat insects. They never provoked me, after all.”

“Immortal Fairy, were all the demons you ate the ones that had offended you?”

“Of course. You have no idea how vicious demons can be. They particularly relish devouring cultivators, whose flesh and blood are a great tonic for them. Before I became an immortal, I was hunted by demons all day long. Those times were truly tough. If you didn’t kill them, they would kill you. I had no choice but to fight back fiercely and slay many demons.

“I wasn’t like the Heaven Mandate Immortal or the Qilin Immortal. Blessed by the heavens, they had outrageous luck, stumbling upon fortuitous opportunities one after another. The Nine-Layers Immortal had the Lianshan Clan backing him, so he didn’t need to fret about cultivation. There’s even less to be said about the Epoch Immortal. He was already at the Transcendent Tribulation Stage when I was just at the Qi Training Stage.

“I had to start from scratch and was so poor I couldn’t find cultivation resources. Without resources to grow stronger, your only option was to be killed. Thus, I ate the demons I killed.” The Everlasting Immortal Fairy sighed.

Those days were genuinely tough. The life-threatening perils and dead ends I encountered were too numerous to count. Fortunately, I could fight and grow strong quickly enough to overcome challenges time and again.

Under Commander Li’s lead, Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou arrived at the insect tribe. According to Commander Li, their tribe was named after the character “qiang” and thus called the Qiang Insect Tribe. The party seeking marriage with Song Xiaomi was from the Jiang Insect Tribe.

‘We’ve arrived. It’s right there!” Commander Li pointed ahead.

Following Commander Li’s finger, Lu Yang saw specks of starlight in the mountain forest’s depths. It was an enchanting sight. It was only upon drawing closer that they realized that the lights were the glowing buttocks of fireflies.

The tribe chieftain was pacing anxiously at the tribe’s entrance, awaiting news from Commander Li. Before he saw Commander Li, he spotted two colossal figures moving in the darkness. They resembled monstrous, man-eating beasts, their eyes gleaming with light and fixed intently on the tribe. Despite being a powerful insect at the Level Three Qi Training Stage, the tribe chieftain felt a lethal pressure emanating from these two behemoths.

These two monsters are at least at the Level Six Qi Training Stage!

A calamity that could wipe out our entire tribe!

“All hands, defensive positions!” At the tribe chieftain’s command, the tribe’s warriors sprang into action, aiming their tiny toothpicks and small stones at the two giant monsters.

“Chieftain, don’t attack, don’t attack!” Frightened by the scene, Commander Li rushed over to explain. If we anger these two experts, no trouble could turn into trouble. “These two are Meng Yang and Lu Jingzhou from the Prison Suppression Sect. It’s their first time in the Demon Region, and they wish to visit our tribe.”

The tribe chieftain heaved a sigh of relief. If a battle really broke out and we managed to win, it would be a pyrrhic victory.

“I’ve captured the Young Miss and Chi Shui.”

Bound tightly, Song Xiaomi and Chi Shui staggered toward the tribe chieftain.

“Dad, I don’t want to marry him!”

“Chieftain, please believe me. Give me time, and I will surely reach the Level Seven Qi Training Stage!” 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

The tribe chieftain glared furiously at Song Xiaomi and Chi Shui, the oppressive aura from his Level Three Qi Training Stage aura terrifyingly intense. “Nonsense! This isn’t about what you want! I must attend to our esteemed guests first. I will deal with you later!

“Take them away and lock them up!”

The tribe chieftain turned back with an obsequious smile. “Esteemed guests, this way please.”

“Wait. Don’t take them away just yet,” Meng Jingzhou interjected.

“Your Excellency, what instructions do you have?” the tribe chieftain inquired with utmost deference.

Meng Jingzhou stood with his hands clasped behind his back, his tone calm. “I wouldn’t call that ‘instructions.’ Although I’m not a fan of happily ever afters for lovers, what I despise even more is abusing authority to compel a marriage alliance!

“If you two are truly in love with each other, this tribe of yours... I will protect it!”

It’s a rare chance to show off. How could I let this pass without displaying my might?

Lu Yang shot a disdainful glance at Meng Jingzhou, easily guessing what he was thinking. How pathetic, showing off in front of a bunch of insects that are at most at the Level Three Qi Training Stage. Where’s the skill in that? Shouldn’t we at least have a Foundation Establishment cultivator here to lend credence to your performance?

Song Xiaomi and Chi Shui were overjoyed. They never imagined an expert of this caliber would offer to protect them.

The tribe chieftain was equally delighted. He no longer had to marry his daughter off, and their tribe would also gain the protection of formidable experts. This is a heaven-sent fortune!

Upon learning that the tribe would be under the protection of two mighty experts, the entire tribe erupted in cheers and enthusiastically hosted the two guests.

The duo noticed that human-form insects were rare within the tribe. The majority had yet to achieve human form. These insects possessed intelligence but lacked the ability to speak. The insects capable of assuming human form held important positions in the tribe—guarding the village, managing the village, going out to hunt, and so forth. Those who had chased after Song Xiaomi and Chi Shui were responsible for protecting the village.

The Qiang Insect Tribe hosted the duo to the best of their ability. It seemed this wasn’t their first time receiving humans, as they appeared quite experienced.

The two sat cross-legged as ants worked in teams to carry enormous bowls, utensils, fruits, and decorative flowers for their enjoyment.

Lu Yang took a bite of a fruit whose name he didn’t know. It was crisp and refreshing. Sipping the juice from the bowl, a chilling sensation slid down his throat. These were local specialties of the Demon Region, delicacies unavailable in the Central Continent.

Fireflies acted as bonfires, gathering together like a river of stars and presenting a picturesque sight. From above, it looked like the two sat amidst the Milky Way.

The sole imperfection was the dance segment, where swarms of mosquitoes danced before their eyes. Fortunately, Meng Jingzhou’s willpower was astonishing, and he resisted the impulse to swat the mosquitoes away.

It was a lively night.

Early the next morning, uninvited guests barged into the Qiang Insect Tribe.

A large contingent from the Jiang Insect Tribe arrived. Among them, one human-form insect sat arrogantly upon a leaf, regarding the Qiang Insect Tribe’s chieftain with contempt, not even bothering to step down from the leaf.

He was Qing Dong, son of the Jiang Insect Tribe’s chieftain.

He noticed two hills not far from the Qiang Insect Tribe and was somewhat puzzled. I don’t remember them being there during my last visit.

Forget it, no point overthinking it.

“I heard my fiancée nearly escaped yesterday. Is this true?”

“Nephew Qing Dong, you jest! Absolutely not!” the Qiang Insect Tribe Chieftain flatly denied.

Qing Dong’s eyes narrowed. “Are you suggesting that... I’m wrong?” Aura waves of the Level Four Qi Training Stage emanated from him.

The Qiang Insect Tribe Chieftain was astounded. He’s so young, yet already an expert at the Level Four Qi Training Stage! No such genius had ever appeared in the entire history of the Qiang Insect Tribe!

As the standoff continued, a deep voice boomed like thunder, shaking the earth. The insects were so frightened that they fell to the ground. Qing Dong himself fell from the leaf.

Within Qing Dong’s horrified gaze, one of the hills awakened. It slowly rose, like a great mountain springing up from the earth. The massive mountain blotted out the sun, casting them all into its shadow.

That’s not a mountain—it’s a person!

The person’s eyes shone brilliantly like two miniature suns. The oppressive pressure radiating from him made Qing Dong shudder in fear.

“How dare a mere Qi Training ant prattle on so insolently before this esteemed one?”
