Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?-Chapter 1285 - 815: Following the Trail of the Light Hawk (Part 2)
However, many people still have their own work to do and haven't joined the celebration banquet, such as Hevi.
The mostly intact city walls protect Hepa Town, with the only breach temporarily blocked by tough vines that suddenly grew, clearly the handiwork of the last member of the Hasavi Team.
"How's the inspection going; can the defense magic on the city walls still be used?"
Inside the city walls, Hevi uses the Suffocating Dragon Tooth to drag various delicacies he snuck out from the celebration banquet, distributing them to the Civil Engineering Magicians who are inspecting the walls.
In addition to the rebel army's Civil Engineering Magicians working diligently here, there are even technicians from the Holy Light Church blending in among the magicians to help, seemingly without any sense of incongruity.
Upon seeing Hevi, the magicians started excitedly sharing the food, chatting animatedly:
"The completeness of the defense magic is quite good; with a bit of touch-up, it can be used directly."
"Luckily, it's just temporarily shut off; if it had been destroyed, it would have been a hassle."
"Thanks for the roast meat~"
The defense magic being mostly intact is indeed very good news.
In typical siege warfare, these magic arrays need to be mostly destroyed to ensure the ground forces can safely approach, so after a battle, the defense magic is usually in tatters. However, the rebel army managed to keep it this intact thanks entirely to the help of the Dark Moon Swords.
The magic sky curtain and defense magic are all the contribution of the Dark Moon Swords, who are specialists in dealing with the magic facilities of the Three Great Religions!
As for how they accomplished it, how they managed to destroy the magic sky curtain that was as solid as a rock....
"Lord Hevi, may I ask when we can meet Lady Matilda again?"
Technicians from the Holy Light Church approached; they weren't interested in the food but were more concerned about meeting the members of the Hasavi Team.
"You are deserving heroes and should be rewarded," Hevi said warmly: "Once the aftermath is settled, I'll arrange for you to meet."
These people left expressing immense gratitude, their departing steps filled with joy.
Watching their backs, Hevi couldn't help but exclaim.
"Truly, no matter how sturdy the fortress is, it cannot withstand internal corrosion."
How did the Dark Moon Swords dismantle the defenses of the Three Great Religions?
One apparent method was simply to bribe the opponent's technicians to act as moles.
And this relied on the miraculous weapon, "Hell's March."
The bribed technicians experienced effects from Hell's March that allowed them to see people who would cause them "pain," which clearly includes deceased family members.
Matilda bribed them by promising they could see these people through Hell's March, prompting them to switch sides directly.
However, this trick wasn't foolproof usually; there are always people who value their faith more and would never betray the Holy Light.
But for some reason, this technique suddenly became extremely effective on the Holy Light believers in Hepa Town. This bunch seemed entirely unconcerned with their faith in the Holy Light when it came to rebellion, betraying without hesitation.
Even Matilda had never seen people so persuaded so easily.
The issues on the city wall side no longer needed worrying; Hevi took a turn and flew directly to the most prominent Holy Light Church in the center of Hepa Town.
The Civil Magic Magicians from the Starfire Church speedily constructed a statue of Gwyn to replace the original Holy Light God's statue. However, other churches were dissatisfied upon seeing this and started constructing their own gods' statues, leading to a dispute over which god should be placed at the main seat in the prayer ground.
Hevi ignored these people and instead followed the familiar aura upstairs, pushing open the door labeled "Meeting."
Fingerley stood close by, flipping through pages covered in writing, while his uniquely shaped teammates rifled through mountains of documents within the meeting room.
The person who appeared like a straw man from a horror movie but was actually a little girl was the gold-level adventurer "Vitality Vine," Aleya.
The other, a giant steel man over two and a half meters tall, was the infamously notorious gold-level adventurer "Hell's March," Matilda. Her true form was actually a girl-next-door type with long black hair.
Every time Hevi saw Matilda, he felt a stomachache because she too had fallen victim to Hell's March's effects.
"How's the search for information? Did you find anything you wanted?"
Hevi approached Fingerley, casually handing him a roasted chicken leg.
Fingerley took a bite of the chicken leg held by the Suffocating Dragon Tooth, chewing while shaking his head, murmuring indistinctly:
"This is only a branch of the frontline units; it's clearly aimed at the Sain Dungeon, but doesn't have the information I want."
"That's really unfortunate; would you like to have a drink to blow off some steam?" Hevi had even brought up a barrel of wine.
Back when the rebel army was shattered by the Holy Light Church and fled towards the main units, they encountered ambushes set up in advance on the way. Luckily, Fingerley arrived with the Dark Moon Swords in time to rescue them, avoiding greater casualties.
Upon hearing of the Sain Dungeon's emergence in Hepa Town, the Dark Moon Swords moved in conjunction with the rebel army and successfully seized the place as of today.
After the fight, Fingerley headed straight to the intelligence gathering point in Hepa Town and had been digging through information without a break since then.
Hevi and Fingerley became familiar with each other during this time; he recalled Fingerley mentioning his goal.
"The mercenary group you've been tracking seems to have had contacts here, right?"
"Not seems, but they've had numerous contacts," Fingerley flipped through the pages in his hand. "I'm just searching for more evidence."
Fingerley's appearance in Scameroon was to track traces of a former mercenary group.
Hevi had heard of that group's renowned name.
After all, the name of the invincible "Light Eagle Group" was known far and wide.
Especially in a war-torn region like Scameroon, everyone wants to recruit more powerful combatants. If not for the Light Eagle Group later becoming a permanent fixture in the Yanor Kingdom, various forces in Scameroon would have long attempted to woo them.
But subsequently, the Light Eagle Group pulled off something even more infamous, triggering a continent-wide search for hidden demon clan members in the "Black Hawk's Chaos."
That chaos was halted by the Sain Dungeon and Hero Elsa, enabling the Yanor Kingdom to regain vitality, bringing fresh attention to the threat of the demon clan. The happy outcome was almost universally celebrated.
Everyone was all smiles, except the Light Eagle Group.
From that point on, the Light Eagle Group was erased from existence; Captain Eliphas was slain beyond revival for colluding with demon clan and evil gods, the corrupted members were executed entirely, and the non-corrupted members were imprisoned with uncertain futures. Only a very few truly innocent ones were released, now occupied with unknown pursuits.
A comprehensive investigation into the Light Eagle Group was launched, and the victim count from Eliphas's years of wrongdoing was countless.
Among those victims was Fingerley, whose hometown was incinerated by the Light Eagle Group.
Following the end of Black Hawk's Chaos, Fingerley continued his adventures while aiding victims of the Light Eagle Group. The group had traveled widely in its early days, leaving victims everywhere, so there's no telling when he'd encounter another.
And during his adventures, he stumbled upon a new conundrum.
The Light Eagle Group seemed to have connections with an unknown force in Scameroon, both in its early days and after becoming famous, and even just before the Black Hawk's Chaos erupted, there was evidence showing they remained in contact.
This precisely suggested that this unknown force still existed today!
Fingerley certainly couldn't let it go; after notifying Princess Serine, he and his companions came to Scameroon in search of new clues.
As for why he's now the leader of the Dark Moon Swords... that's another story altogether.
"Indeed, to find more clues, we need to access more confidential places; the information here is still too limited."
Fingerley shook his head, setting down the thick documents when Matilda handed over a new stack.
"Even though we couldn't find new leads on the Light Eagle Group, since we're here, how about an overdue adventure in the Sain Dungeon? The information compiled by these Holy Light Church explorers actually seems quite authentic."
"Sain, huh..."
Fingerley accepted the documents, which clearly depicted the image of the Chaos Witch.
"That truly would be overdue."
