Who Cares About Him When I'm Married to the Richest Man?-Chapter 184: He Minds Our Past
Mrs. Quincy would never have imagined that Mason Jacobs could be so cold-blooded and heartless.
She struggled to call out, "Mason, I’m your mother-in-law! Even though you and Cece got divorced, you used to call me mom! How can you treat me like this?"
Not only was she not treated as an honored guest, but she was directly kicked out without a word!
Caleb Quincy also shouted, "Brother-in-law, you have to help us! You promised my sister that you’d take care of me like your own brother! I’ve suffered so much, you can’t just ignore me!"
The security guard hesitated upon hearing their words. If they were related to President Jacobs, and he just threw them out, what if they came back to settle the score with him...
Mason Jacobs saw the security guard standing still, a look of impatience flashed in his eyes, "If you continue standing there, don’t bother coming in tomorrow!"
The security guard shuddered upon hearing this. He had worked hard to get this job in a wealthy villa district, where the workload was light, the pay was high, and the environment was great. If he ended up getting complaints, it would be a disaster!
Without further hesitation, he escorted Mrs. Quincy and Caleb Quincy out.
As a woman, Mrs. Quincy was no match for the specially trained security guards, and the mother and son were quickly thrown outside the villa district.
Mrs. Quincy was unwilling and tried to rush back in. The security guard advised, "Ma’am, the people inside are powerful and influential. If they acknowledge you as a relative, you’re an honored guest; if they don’t, you’re a drowning dog. I suggest you find another way. Wealthy people aren’t easy to mess with."
Thinking of Mason Jacobs’ cold gaze just now, Mrs. Quincy couldn’t help but shiver.
She was always indifferent to advice. Although the security guard was trying to do her a favor, she didn’t appreciate it at all and cursed, "Lackey!"
She pulled Caleb Quincy and walked a few steps away, feeling somewhat at a loss, "Ken, what do you think we should do now?"
With her husband locked up, Caleb Quincy was the only man in the Quincy Family, so she naturally viewed him as her pillar.
Caleb Quincy thought for a moment and said, "Mom, we can’t give up. Even if not for Dad and my sister, for me alone, we have to get Brother-in-law to help. Otherwise, am I really supposed to be a eunuch in the future?"
Saying this, a touch of gloom flashed in his eyes.
When he woke up that day, he learned that his manhood had been severed and couldn’t be reattached. He nearly went mad - he was only seventeen! He was a man!
If he was incomplete for the rest of his life, how could he hold his head high? How could he keep living?
Originally, Cecilia Quincy had been helping him contact overseas research labs, planning to have a bio-realistic organ made for him to attach there as better than nothing. If the technology advanced enough, it might restore some function.
This matter had been arranged well, but then suddenly Cecilia Quincy was arrested. Her arrest was one thing, but the issue of the bio-realistic organ concerned his future life – how could it just halt?
But previously, it was all arranged by Cecilia Quincy, and he and his mother were clueless on how to continue contacting the parties involved, hence turning their attention to Mason Jacobs.
They thought that if Mason Jacobs couldn’t rescue Cecilia Quincy and Dad, he could at least take care of the bio-realistic organ issue. Who would’ve thought they’d be thrown out before even finishing their sentence!
Caleb Quincy was a reckless character to begin with; he couldn’t stand such humiliation. He gritted his teeth and told Mrs. Quincy, "If it comes to it, I’ll sneak in at night. I refuse to believe that if I put a knife to his neck, he still wouldn’t agree!"
The more he thought about it, the better he felt this plan was, and maybe he could extort more money too.
Mrs. Quincy disagreed, "No, what if you get caught, what will I do? We need to think of another way."
Caleb Quincy said irritably, "Think of a way? You’re always saying that! You come up with something, then! I’m in such a state, you don’t care a bit about my life or death!"
Mrs. Quincy’s heart ached, "My dear son, don’t be so impulsive. I won’t let you go for your own good. Think about it; what’s Mason Jacobs’ status? Is his villa so easy to sneak into? What if he calls the police? What if there are bodyguards by his side?"
Caleb Quincy said impatiently, "Then what do you suggest?"
Mrs. Quincy thought for a moment, a glint of cunning in her eye, "Your sister has been saying that Mason Jacobs wants to remarry Elara Hale. Let’s go find Elara Hale."
"Elara Hale..." Mentioning this name, Caleb Quincy immediately thought of another person.
Aidan Sommers.
Everything he’s going through now is all Aidan Sommers’ doing.
If he hadn’t led those guys seeking revenge on him to himself, how would they have found him, how would they have vented their anger?
Though the initial problem was that he messed with a mafia boss’s woman, he didn’t think he was wrong; managing to sleep with that woman, was his skill.
Aidan Sommers did it on purpose, just because they had a grudge. Aidan Sommers harmed him like this.
He had originally intended to heal and then deal with Aidan Sommers. Now it’s perfect; he could settle both old and new scores with Elara Hale together.
Caleb Quincy asked, "Should we go now?"
Mrs. Quincy shook her head, "Let’s wait here. If Mason Jacobs doesn’t go find Elara Hale, then we’ll go."
The two hid behind the bushes in the walkway, watching the movements towards the villa district.
Soon, a stretched Lincoln drove out from the villa district.
Inside the car, Kylie Dalton recalled the scene at the door just now, her face looking unpleasant, "I told you long ago, that Cece’s family isn’t worth mentioning, yet you’re tangled up with those eccentric relatives of hers?"
Mason Jacobs sat in the back seat, resting with his eyes closed. When he heard this, he opened his eyes and replied, "You didn’t stop me when I married her."
"Wasn’t it because she was pregnant?" Kylie Dalton retorted irritably, "Elara Hale, that egg-less hen, occupied Mrs. Jacobs’ role for two years but couldn’t give us a child. Cece may not have a great background, but at least she was pregnant. Also, before marrying, she was submissive to me in everything; who would’ve known she’d become so disobedient after marriage!"
She refused to do housework, wouldn’t trim the garden, didn’t cook or do laundry, and would just drop her tasks altogether!
Thinking of those things, Kylie Dalton felt regret, "If I had known she was such trouble, I would never have let her in!"
Mason Jacobs curled his lips, not bothered to speak further.
His mom was always like that; Elara Hale wasn’t good enough, neither was Cecilia Quincy.
Perhaps even if he married a princess, his mom wouldn’t be satisfied.
Anyway, this time he was determined to remarry Elara Hale, irrespective of Kylie Dalton’s attitude. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
If his mother still couldn’t accept Elara Hale post-marriage, then he would move out with Elara Hale, which wasn’t a big deal.
Thinking this, he couldn’t help but feel a bit annoyed. Indeed, why hadn’t he thought of this before? If he’d moved out with Elara Hale earlier, without his mother’s trouble, she might not have been willing to divorce.
And now, she’s married to a wealthier family than his, and he has to go to her to speak on his behalf to the Fitzwilliam Family, which made him feel irritable, darkening his mood.
Kylie Dalton saw his shifting demeanor and dared not say anything more.
The car quickly stopped downstairs at Elara Hale’s company building.
Mason Jacobs knew that if he called Elara Hale directly, she wouldn’t come down.
So he used the driver’s phone to call her, having the driver tell her they needed to procure some medical equipment and hoped for a face-to-face meeting.
Sure enough, Elara Hale readily agreed, and after agreeing on a meeting place, she came down shortly after.
The extended Lincoln slowly followed her until she walked into the agreed coffee shop.
Elara Hale sat in the coffee shop waiting for the client, but to her utter surprise, it was Mason Jacobs and Kylie Dalton who showed up.
She initially thought it was a coincidence but didn’t expect them to walk straight up to her. Mason Jacobs waved his phone at her, "Sorry for using this method to call you out."
Elara Hale’s expression changed, and she immediately stood up, "Was it you who called me?"
Mason Jacobs gave her a bitter smile, "If I didn’t do this, you wouldn’t have met me, would you?"
Elara Hale turned to leave.
Mason Jacobs grabbed her wrist, "Wait, Elara, I really need to talk to you today, and I’m not trying to fool you. If you help me out, I’ll buy all that medical equipment I mentioned on the phone."
Elara Hale frowned and shook off his hand, then glanced at Kylie Dalton, "How can I help you?"
Mason Jacobs pulled out a chair, "Don’t get all confrontational when you see me; everyone’s watching you, you know. Let’s sit down and talk, alright?"
Seeing Elara Hale unmoving, he let out a helpless laugh, "It’s broad daylight, in a public place, are you still worried I’d do something to you?"
Elara Hale finally sat down with a stern face.
"Go on, you went through all this trouble to trick me, what do you really want?"
Mason Jacobs looked at her, "Do you know Zion Fitzwilliam’s true identity?"
Elara Hale’s expression became somewhat nuanced.
Mason Jacobs, seeing her expression, understood. She knew.
He couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed; he originally wanted to use this to create discord between her and Zion Fitzwilliam, but it seemed impossible now.
"In the past six months, Jacobs Corporation has faced numerous unexplained targeted attacks." Mason Jacobs got straight to the point, "Especially this time, someone tampered with Jacobs Corporation’s accounts, cutting thirty percent of its business. Elara, I’m facing an imminent disaster now."
Elara Hale looked at him suspiciously, "You can’t possibly suspect Ken of doing this? No way, he’s not that idle."
Mason Jacobs’ face turned unpleasant hearing her refer to Zion Fitzwilliam so affectionately. After a pause, he said, "There’s no one else but him. He surely takes issue with our past, which is why he targeted me. Elara, I want you to help me, please get him to stop attacking Jacobs Corporation."
Elara Hale raised her eyebrows, unable to believe what she heard, "Are you okay?"
To actually ask her for help? Given their relationship, it would be benevolent enough not to kick them while they’re down.
Mason Jacobs sighed, "In truth, I’m doing this for your sake too. If he took action against me, it shows he is still bothered by your previous marriage. I understand, men are possessive. You and I had such an intimate past, his jealousy is understandable. But I fear if this continues, it will affect your relationship."
Elara Hale initially dismissed his earlier words as nonsense, but these words actually struck a chord with her.
Although she and Zion Fitzwilliam had been intimate, it was just that once, and she had always worried whether he’d mind her not being his first... She knew it was absurd, but couldn’t stop herself from worrying.
He said he loved her, yet despite his profound love... they’d only been intimate once.
She used to be tangled up with these issues, but now, these questions don’t hold much significance for her.
Because she had already decided to separate.
Her silence made Kylie Dalton very dissatisfied; she had been resisting the urge to speak from the start. Now, seeing Elara Hale in such an unsatisfactory light—so different from her previously obedient demeanor—facing her son’s request, she should be fawning and agreeable, but she spoke without any courtesy.
If not for Mason, Kylie Dalton really wanted to throw her coffee at Elara Hale’s face, to teach her how to be a proper woman.
Mason Jacobs noticed his mother’s emotions, gave her a warning glance, and then said to Elara Hale, "I know you’ve suffered a lot in the past, and today I brought my mom here to specifically apologize to you, Mom."
He looked at Kylie Dalton.
Kylie Dalton was nearly furious, looking at Elara Hale with immense dissatisfaction.
To apologize to this wretch was more unbearable than death.
But given the company’s current situation and Mason Jacobs’ previous warning, she could only reluctantly say, "Elara, I was too harsh on you before, don’t take it to heart, just help Mason, he truly loves you."
Elara Hale said nothing.
She felt a strange sense of disconnect; Kylie Dalton had always been high-handed and arrogant in her eyes, and she had been stepped on by Kylie Dalton for two whole years. Now, however, Kylie Dalton was bowing her noble head in front of her.
Just because she remarried a man with a better background.
Power really is a great thing.
She tugged at the corner of her mouth and stood up, "There’s no use finding me, Zion and I are preparing for a divorce agreement. If you have conflicts between you, I advise you to go directly to him."
After speaking, she turned and headed outside under the visibly shocked gazes of Mason Jacobs and Kylie Dalton.
Apex International.
A dull and tedious meeting finally ended, Zion Fitzwilliam put away his notebook and handed it to the secretary before getting up and leaving the meeting room.
He had just returned to his office when he received a call from Miles Morgan.
"President Fitzwilliam, we found out that the car this morning was a scrapped vehicle from out of state. The driver had an overseas account, and ten minutes before the incident, the account received a deposit of one-hundred thousand US dollars sent from within the country. It was encrypted, but our tech team traced the signal’s origin, and surveillance footage revealed the wire transfer was made by Mason Jacobs’ assistant, surname Wu."
Zion Fitzwilliam, holding the phone, let out a cold smile, "I knew it."
How could there be an accident out of nowhere?
As expected, it was Mason Jacobs pulling the strings.
Miles Morgan said, "At yesterday’s Warner Family wedding, the old lady accidentally exposed your information. Mason Jacobs seems to have gotten the exact news and wanted to preemptively strike. Fortunately, we modified the car in advance, otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable..."
He paused for a moment, then exclaimed in surprise, "President Fitzwilliam, just received news, Mason Jacobs had a young drinking companion kidnapped from The Everwill Club, the location is coming through immediately!"
