While I Was Giving Love Advice to My Best Friend, the School's Most Beautiful Girl Somehow Became the Closest Person to Me-Chapter 7Volume 1 .1 - The Revival of Love Consultations
Chapter 7: The Revival of Love Consultations
“…Could you say that again?”
“I’m sorry. I lied to you, Asahina-san. I don’t have feelings for Otsuki-san that go beyond friendship… no, beyond an acquaintance.”
With a bang, Asahina-san slammed her hand on the table and leaned forward.
I thought she might hit me for a moment, but instead, Asahina-san trembled with emotion and eventually settled back into her seat, her head bowed as if she had burned out.
“Um, you know…”
“I would be yelling at you right now if it weren’t for what happened before.”
“Of course I’m telling you now because of what happened before.”
Asahina-san glared at me with piercing eyes. Just like how reconciliations become harder with time, lies get more complicated as time passes.
The reason I revealed the truth here is that I no longer needed to lie about liking Otsuki-san.
“So, Kogure-kun, you don’t like Shizuku. Somehow… that’s dissapointing.”
Asahina-san twirled her platinum blonde hair around her finger in a swirling gesture.
“I’m sorry I lied to you.”
“So you really don’t like her… Does that mean you’re not in love with anyone right now?”
“That’s right. There’s no particular girl I’m interested in right now.”
“Is that so.”

“You seem awfully happy about it, but is it so strange that I’m not pining for someone?”
“No, no, it’s not that. I’m just… glad, that’s all.”
I have no idea what she’s glad about.
Love, huh… Maybe I am strange for not having romantic feelings for the girl in front of me, who is said to be the object of affection for more than half the boys at school.
“But there are actually boys who like Otsuki-san. I was acting on behalf of one of them.”
“Is that so? You went to the amusement park with me and got involved in the fight with Shizuku just for that? Kogure-kun, you’re being too kind.”
None of this would have happened if you hadn’t set your sights on me… I wanted to say, but I held back because it seemed like it would make her angry.
“Then call this boy over.”
“Are you sure? I thought you might refuse, saying that a boy you don’t know isn’t worthy of Shizuku.”
“It depends on who it is. But if that boy and Shizuku get together… it means there won’t be any other girls around you, Kogure-kun…”
“Um, I couldn’t quite hear what you said after ‘if that boy and Shizuku get together,’ could you say it louder?”
“Just call him!”
“Okay!”
When Asahina-san feels weak, she has a certain adorable charm, but when she’s full of energy, she has the strength of an empress.
She’s the most charismatic beauty in school, after all. She was like this when we first met, too. But now, her face is a bit flushed.
She won’t meet my eyes, and the way she looks at me seems to have changed.
Well, it doesn’t matter. I’ll do as she asked and call him over.
When I contacted him, he said he could come right away.
I waited for my childhood friend to arrive.
“Sorry, I’m late.”
Upon seeing the face of my best friend, Hirasawa Reo, Asahina-san’s expression twisted dramatically.
“What, him!? You can’t be serious that he likes Shizuku.”
“Ryouma! Why is Asahina here? You didn’t say a word about it…”
“Reo, just sit down for now.”
“But!”
“Reo.”
I looked into Reo’s eyes as I always do and spoke to him firmly.
“…Alright.”
Then Reo seems to understand and calms down.
Finally, all the concerned parties are gathered.
It feels like it took a long time to get to this point, and I feel like we took some unnecessary detours. But there’s no other way to make Reo’s love come true.
“As his best friend, I want to set the stage for Reo to confess his feelings to his unrequited love, Otsuki-san. He’ll definitely be rejected by Otsuki-san if he confesses now.”
“That’s true. Shizuku seems to have a hard time with Hirasawa-kun and to be honest, I don’t have a good impression of you either. If Shizuku came to me for advice about being confessed to by Hirasawa-kun, I’d tell her to stay away.”
“Tsk.”
“Do you really like Shizuku? I can’t trust you.”
“The attractive points about Otsuki-san that I first told Asahina-san about.. they’re all things I heard from Reo. Right, Reo?”
“Yeah. I like Otsuki. What I liked the most was the smile Otsuki showed when talking to you, Asahina.”
Asahina-san’s eyes widened in surprise. Honestly, I was also taken aback by those words.
“I wanted to know the reason behind that smile… so I tried to get to know Otsuki. And the more I got to know her, the more I fell for her.”
Perhaps embarrassed to speak so directly to a girl, Reo began to avert his eyes. On the contrary, it could be said that this showed just how serious he was.
Asahina-san would surely understand that.
“I like everything about her—her voice, her face, her gestures, even the way she names plants, and the caring side of her that always makes two bento boxes for Asahina’s sake.”
“Hmm…”
“Once I fall for someone, I really fall for everything about them. It was my first time in love, so I was also surprised about it.”
“I think I understand what you mean.”
Asahina-san’s calm words seemed to carry real feelings. Asahina-san had said she never had a boyfriend, but maybe she had someone she liked.
Then, was it a mistake for me to have been brought to her house… Oh, maybe it’s a story from the past.
Even without dating experience, one can still experience love.
But why do I feel a bit uneasy?
If she still likes that person now… No, it doesn’t matter what I think.
“I want to know more about Otsuki. So please help me!”
Reo bowed deeply to Asahina-san.
It might have seemed like an unexpected move to Asahina-san, but when Reo really wants to accomplish something, he’s willing to bow his head and ask for cooperation.
That’s why he’s been successful in various things until now.
