While I Was Giving Love Advice to My Best Friend, the School's Most Beautiful Girl Somehow Became the Closest Person to Me-Chapter 3Volume 2 .6 - The Beautiful Girls Are Making Their Move
The Beautiful Girls Are Making Their Move
“Then shall we play together? It’s partly my responsibility for neglecting Alisa’s schedule management.”
“I think you spoil Alisa too much. But is that okay? Won’t Reo be disappointed?”
“At times like this, Kogure-kun knows best what Reo-kun is thinking.”
For ten seconds, I was saddened that I couldn’t play alone with Otsuki-san, but then I wholeheartedly rejoiced at the thought of the four of us playing together. Reo would surely accept it.
“Thank you. I can avoid making Hiyori sad.”
“Then, shall we go to Reo-kun’s place?”
Hiyori had already gone to Reo’s place. We decided to follow. And Otsuki-san smiled brightly.
“But I will definitely give you a two-hour lecture. Don’t forget that.”
“So you’re going to do it. Eek…”
My relationship with Otsuki-san remained the same as ever. We had fun playing together, and needless to say, the next day, Tsumugi and Alisa were envious.
And the following week, it was time for club activities. All the basketball club members called by the captain were unable to hide their surprise at the scene before them.
“My name is Hiiragi Tsumugi. I’m a beginner at basketball, but I’ll do my best to support the team, so please take care of me!”
“Ooooooh!”
The basketball club members were ecstatic. The rumors about the black-haired beauty transfer student, Tsumugi, had spread not only among the first-year students.
Sophomores and juniors had heard about her too, and some even came to my class just to catch a glimpse of her. Now Tsumugi was becoming the basketball club’s manager. There was no way they wouldn’t be excited.
“Kei. Tsumugi’s coming, huh? Don’t make her drink muddy tea like you used to.”
Reo was, of course, furious. His usual spiteful banter. They say that the more you fight, the closer you are, so let’s not worry about that.
And then.
“Asahina Alisa. Nice to meet you.”
“Uooooooooh!”
Why is Alisa here? She crossed her arms and turned away with her usual aloof attitude. The mere presence of the school’s most beautiful girl set the simple-minded male students abuzz.
“Captain! There’s a bunch of guys who want to join the basketball club on a provisional basis!”
“Denied. I won’t allow anyone to join until next year!”
I was somewhat relieved by the captain’s stern words. Boys had gathered after hearing the rumors. Of course, they would. Alisa and Tsumugi were joining the boys’ basketball club.
“Um, who should I learn the manager’s duties from?”
Tsumugi asked the captain. At her gesture, the stern captain’s face turned red. Tsumugi naturally had a way of stirring men. She’s always been good at playing the sweet girl.
“Oh, yeah. Someone teach her! First-years!”
“I’ll teach you!”
“Leave it to me!”
“You two, I’ll take responsibility…”
“Just leave it to Ryouma. You guys always dump the menial tasks on him anyway.”The male members fell silent at Reo’s words. Reo looked at me.
“Can I leave it to you?”
“Sure. I can teach everything.”
Reo glared as if to say ‘that’s good,’ and the classmates flinched. Since the basketball team didn’t have a manager, the freshmen took turns doing the menial tasks. Everyone was supposed to organize the equipment, but many were reluctant to do things like making tea or doing laundry, so I took the initiative. Reo would help out before you knew it, but as the ace of the basketball team, I wanted him to focus on improving his skills, so I often sent him off to the upperclassmen.
“Tsumugi and Asahina can rest easy with Ryouma around.”
“For Reo, that’s a good judgment. You can be useful sometimes, can’t you?”
“Well… if Ryouma is teaching.”
“Just remember to learn properly. Don’t trouble Ryouma!”
“Huh? Hey Tsumugi, who does this guy think he is?”
“Alisa-chan, shall we annihilate this guy?”

Listening to their conversation, it seemed like the three of them were really going at it.
“The facial deviation score of those three is insane…”
“Reo’s got a girlfriend, and yet he’s also close to the two major beauties?”
“Handsome guys attract beautiful girls, huh?”
Without knowing the situation, that’s how it seems. It looks like the two beauties are competing for Reo.
In reality, Reo is totally smitten with Otsuki-san, and those two are… well, let’s not go there.
“Tsumugi, Alisa. Come here, I’ll teach you the job.”
And so, I began teaching the two of them about the managerial duties of the basketball team. It’s probably best if I stick with them at first. Alisa approached me.
“Hey, Ryouma. Should I take this over there?”
“Whoa!? Ah, um… yeah.”
“What’s wrong? Your face is red.”
“It’s nothing! Really, it’s nothing.”
Because of Otsuki-san, I’m more conscious of Alisa than necessary. When I think that Alisa might like me… ugh. Calm down, me. I decided to act normal, didn’t I?
Alisa in photos is cute, but Alisa in motion is on a whole different level of charm. And when she calls my name with that beautiful voice… Alisa carried the items away. If I’m going to talk, now’s the only chance. I called out to Tsumugi, who was working nearby.
“Why did Alisa become a manager? Honestly, I can’t picture her as one at all.”
“This afternoon, when I said I’d become the manager for the basketball team, Alisa-chan and Shizuku-chan froze… Of course, I told Shizuku-chan. I told her not to worry because I would only give Reo a ragged cloth.”
The reason the two of them froze was probably not that. But I definitely can’t say it out loud. Otsuki-san is quite wary of Tsumugi. Even though I tell her Tsumugi and I are just childhood friends.
“And so Alisa-chan decided to become a manager with me. It’s scary to do it alone, but with two of us, it’s reassuring!”
“Is that so?”
Whether it’s her natural disposition or her pace, Tsumugi’s innocence seems dazzling. But the reason for Alisa joining the club at this timing… since Otsuki-san didn’t tell me, I must have been oblivious too. I feel like cheering that Alisa has come to like basketball would just make her angry. No, maybe she really has come to like basketball.
