When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 957: That Familiar Scent of Medicine
This long-lost and familiar feeling made Adrian Lancaster both excited and thrilled, causing even his heartbeat to become somewhat erratic.
Since Faye left, it was the first time his heart, once as still as lifeless water, had experienced an emotional fluctuation, capable of joy and pain.
He gently pushed the door open while holding a plate of exquisite desserts and stepped inside.
"Young Master." Mrs. Rhodes snapped back to reality and quickly bowed to him.
The girl, happily playing with the child, looked up at the door upon hearing the noise, only to see a man of high status approaching.
Meeting his gaze, Gia instinctively managed her expression and stood up in front of the cradle.
The form-fitting dress, in a French retro style with tassel design, made her look fashionable and beautiful. Coupled with her fair skin and pretty face, it was hard for anyone to look away.
"President Lancaster." She nodded slightly, greeting him while also noticing the little baby sitting in the cradle.
Afraid she might suddenly stand up or fall, he stayed close to protect the child.
"Taking care of the child is tiring. I just made this, would you like to try?" With these words, Adrian Lancaster handed her the plate.
Then, he turned to Mrs. Rhodes and said, "Mrs. Rhodes, please leave us for a moment. I’d like to speak with this young lady alone."
Upon hearing this, the girl felt inexplicably anxious, knowing his status and aura were intimidating.
As she watched Mrs. Rhodes leave, softly closing the door, Gia’s slightly wary gaze lingered on the man’s handsome face.
Holding the plate, Adrian Lancaster gazed intently at her, those eyes... so familiar!
"Would you like to try it?" He glanced at the plate again.
The girl came to her senses, "Thank you." She reached out gently to take it.
"Do you have any sisters?" This was Adrian Lancaster’s first question.
Gia froze for a moment, wondering why he would ask such a question.
Not knowing his intention, she dared not speak carelessly, fearing implicating Nathan Xavier.
The business world is like a battlefield, friends cannot be considered in such simple terms, a fact she understood well.
So, Gia did not immediately answer him, instead, she looked into his deep eyes, trying to discern his intentions.
But Adrian Lancaster was eager to confirm whether she was Faye’s sister, hoping it would lead him to discover Faye’s birth parents.
This familiar feeling made him lose a bit of his composure as he took a step closer to her.
She instinctively took a step back, her heart clenched, thoughts completely tense, suddenly feeling scared, and even experiencing a slight headache.
"Have we... met before?" Adrian Lancaster forced himself not to frighten her, capturing her slight panic within his gaze, he stopped a half meter away from her.
The window was open when a breeze flowed in from outside, brushing past Gia and reaching the man’s nose!
It was a familiar medicinal scent!
"Faye Turner!" In a flash, Adrian Lancaster grabbed her hand, "You’ve changed your appearance?! What happened? Where did you go?"
Gia was startled by his manner and stammered, "Mr. Lancaster, please... let go of me first."
"Do you know how hard it was for me to find you?!" His voice carried excitement, delight, and reproach, his brows knotted tightly, "You’re still alive, why didn’t you contact me?!"
At this moment, the door opened, and Nathan Xavier happened to walk in and saw this scene! Feeling distressed, he rushed over—
"Adrian, what are you doing?!"
Hurriedly reaching Gia’s side, he pried Adrian Lancaster’s hand away and shielded Gia in his arms, "Adrian, you..."
"Who is she?" Adrian Lancaster’s deep eyes were filled with a complex mix of emotions as he turned his gaze towards him, then back to her, asking somewhat frantically, "Who exactly is she?!"
This familiar feeling was simply torturous, unable to advance, unwilling to retreat.
